Story
Meet Shoji, the cutest little Shih Tzu guy! Shoji is 7 years old and 8 pounds of happiness and joy. His tail never stops wagging! He's good with other dogs and so sweet when meeting new humans! He is working on potty training in his foster home, and he has made it clear he's not into that crate, thank you very much! His foster mom is helping him get used to it while also figuring out if he can be left safely to free roam. He will do best with a patient and understanding family, especially since he is a shy little guy at first! Shoji is happiest when he is with his people and follows his foster family everywhere. He enjoys yard time and then settles in for a good nap! Shoji is such a delight, we know he will make a great addition to his forever home! Please let us know if Shoji is the pup for you! Shoji's adoption fee is $600.

Story
Fisk is a 10-year-old male Shih Tzu mix with a heart as sweet as they come. This gentle, loving dog thrives on being close to his humans and will quickly become your loyal companion. Fisk's favorite activities include sitting in his foster's lap while they work, lounging next to them on the couch, and snuggling up at night-so he'll need a home where dogs are welcome on the furniture! Fisk is super affectionate and will bring endless warmth to someone who enjoys a cuddly companion. While he's generally ambivalent about other small dogs, he may occasionally join in a chase or play session but prefers his space when it comes to meals and treats. Fisk isn't a fan of larger dogs and will let them know to keep their distance, though he can coexist peacefully if they respect his space. Ideally, Fisk would love to be the only dog in the home, as he truly cherishes the company of people. This mellow little guy isn't much of a barker-he'll only join in if the other dogs start up. Fisk is still working on his house training and does mark, so he currently wears a belly band without issue. He would benefit from a fenced yard or a space where he can be let out frequently, and his adopter will need to be patient with him as he continues to improve in this area. Fisk is very food-motivated, and with time and patience, he could overcome these challenges. Due to having only one tooth, Fisk will need a soft diet. Though Fisk hasn't been around very young children, he's been loving and friendly with everyone he meets, especially those who show him affection. He's a mellow, easygoing dog who would fit well in almost any home but would be happiest as the center of someone's attention or in a family where there's plenty of love to go around. If you're looking for a sweet, snuggly, and devoted companion, Fisk is ready to fill your home with love and warmth! For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
