You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Murphy! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Murphy is a cute shih-tzu/terrier mix boy who is full of energy and love!  When Murphy and a few of his friends came to AAMR, he was curious and wide open from the beginning!  He is sweet and energetic and grew up around a lot of dogs close to his size.  He is not a fan of larger dogs. He loves treats and tries really hard to listen, but with all that energy, sometimes it’s hard!  Murphy, like most pups, would benefit from going to obedience classes, so he would meet new friends and learn how to behave properly.  It seems like most of what he knows, he has learned from other dogs.  Although the pups had human contact, they do not seem to have had a lot of human ‘interaction’ such as learning their names, listening skills, or basic manners. Now he just needs some human instruction so he can learn how to be the best boy! Anyone who knows shih-tzus and little terriers knows they are super smart, a little wild and willful, and make the most loving little fur-buddies. A fenced yard is high on Murphy’s wish list at a new home!  He loves to run around and explore, especially if he has another small pup to run with.  He learns his routine quickly but still does not have good enough recall to be allowed off-leash outside.  He had never seen a leash or harness prior to coming to foster care, so this has been a learning experience and we’re still working on it.  That sweet little face tells you all you need to know … he just needs a great, patient family to love him forever! Approximate age/birthdate:  ~June 10, 2023 Weight/size:  ~18 lbs Housebroken:  Working on it and doing well. Crate trained:  YES Personality: happy, curious, on the move, a bit high strung and vocal (probably not the best fit for apartment/condo living) Energy level:  medium with bursts of high … he does need plenty of daily exercise Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred … it will make life easier for everyone if he has a safe, fenced area to run off some energy!  He must never be outside a fenced area off-leash. Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  Working on it … a leash was something he had never seen before coming to AAMR Obedience training:  None Riding in vehicles:  He is learning but still gets stressed and may drool a little      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES – dogs closer to his size.  He is not comfortable with larger dogs but so far has just tried to avoid them. Social with cats:  Has not been around cats in foster care, but we’re all betting he would like to playfully chase them Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  His energy level might be overwhelming for younger children. Adoption donation:  $200 All-American Mutt Rescue is an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by answering all the questions on the application completely.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Murphy picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Story
Teddy is an adorable 3 yr old, 13 lb Shih Tzu.    He is an active and athletic Shih Tzu. Teddy will make a great companion for a devoted walker, as weather doesn’t affect his love of a daily brisk walk.   He needs a home where someone is frequently around, as Teddy prefers to be with his person and will happily keep you company wherever you go.   With just a little patience as he adjusts to his new home, this little guy will warm right up. He’s a young, small dog who is quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage him around outside doorways. Teddy needs to be only dog, since he likes all the attention and all the treats! The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, with gaps no greater than 2 inches, and attached to the home - meaning you have an inside door that opens into the fenced yard. An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500November 4, 2024, 1:54 am

Story
Evie is a 4 yr old, 12lb Shih Tzu. She is new to our rescue, so we are still learning about her personality. Evie is crate trained and learning housetraining & leash walking. Before she was rescued, Evie lived with other dogs in a very small area, so this girl likes to race around the yard. She doesn't appreciate sharing the lap of her human but will lie with other dogs and play in the yard with them. We aren't requiring her to be an only dog, but she can be a little jealous when another one gets the attention she craves. Evie follows her foster mom around and stays close; she prefers to be with her person, so she would not do well being left alone for extended periods. She hasn't shown interest in toys, but we feel she didn't have that opportunity before we rescued her. She really enjoys running around her foster mom's yard, so we are requiring the adoptive home have a securely fenced yard attached to their home. Although she is only 12 pounds, she is very quick, strong, active, and a trip hazard. Evie is not a "couch-potato" Shih Tzu. Evie is affectionate and will bond tightly and fiercely with her forever family. The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, gaps no larger than 1 1/2 inches, and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. Story
Buddy belonged to my late uncle who recently passed, and we want to find a kind and caring family who will give him the attention and love he deserves in his golden years. Buddy is up to date on all vaccinations and is overall in great health for his age. He's currently on daily medications for anxiety and dry eyes (eye drops), but he's doing well. His anti-anxiety meds help keep him calm and happy, and with the right owner, possible the medication could be adjusted to only be used for stressful events (like thunderstorms). Buddy is gentle, loving, and enjoys quiet companionship and would do best in a home without young children or other pets. He will thrive in a peaceful environment, ideally with someone who's home more often and can provide a lot of affection. He loves going on walks and basking in the warm sunshine. Buddy is currently located in the Chestnut Mountain neighborhood and looking for a family who can give him a calm and loving home where he can enjoy his senior years.
