Silky Terrier puppies and dogs in Edina, Minnesota

Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 14 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER!!! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Who wants to have a loveable little dust mop looking 10 pound female maltipoo following them around and leaping into their lap when ever they get a moment to sit? You do of course!! I am a 6 year old female Maltipoo who was surrendered to animal control because I had some stones in my bladder which were easily treated once I got to Gods Dogs Rescue. But I was a very well loved pet who adored my people and was socialized very well. I ride in a car very nicely, taking a nap while I am riding shotgun with you. I am house and crate trained, and also know the doggie door so can let myself in and out to potty if you have a fenced in yard. I get along with dogs and cats of all sizes and ages, and currently live with other pets, ages 2 months to 18 years, and weights from 4 pounds to 92#. I am looking for my forever home and hoping it will be one where I have someone at home with me to keep me company! Is that with you? I’ve had a bit of a rough start and can be very scared of people and very skittish, but with patience, kindness, and time, I know I can learn to trust and blossom in the right home. Here’s what you should know about me: I’m happiest when I’m with other dogs, especially my confident furry friends who help me feel safe and teach me the ropes. I love wrestling with them, basking in the sun, and playing with my soft, stuffed toys. While I’m not big on most treats, I do have a weakness for homemade dehydrated beef liver—yum! I’m working really hard on trusting humans, but don’t really like to be touched right now. My foster parent has been helping me learn with gentle cuddle sessions, and I’m slowly making progress. I’m even starting to approach for play and hold their fingers in my mouth—though I still get scared if things move too fast. I do enjoy quiet, early morning tummy rubs, so there’s hope for more snuggles in the future! Potty training and leash training are still a work in progress for me, so I’ll need a secure, fenced yard in my forever home. I’m also a bit of an escape artist, so doors and gates will need to stay closed tight! At night, I’ve figured out my routine—I sleep best in a crate on the bed with the door open, where I can snuggle up near my favorite doggy friend. It makes me feel safe and calm. I know I’m not your average puppy—I need an experienced adopter who can be patient, gentle, and understanding. Having another confident dog in the house is a must for me.
