Story
Dominique is an extremely handsome, very social, black, with a touch of white on his chest, male standard poodle born on 3/4/23. He currently weighs about 60 pounds and is a burning, burning hunk of love for sure, so it goes without waying that Dominique loves attention and is ready to bond with his special human. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, received a Proheart 6 shot and is also being kept on flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. His adoption donation is $700.00 plus $165 transport fee If you would like to adopt Dominique the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
This handsome poodle mix is approx 3 years and 40 lbs. He was found laying in a ditch unable to move and taken to the local city shelter in Houston TX. His x rays showed that his sacrum had separated from his Lumbar Spine, he also had a bullet in him, but they did not feel that it was affecting his ability to walk, Our orthopedic surgeon said it was an injury that was unable to be repaired. We started him on some physical therapy and after a few days he was able to stand up and while his back legs remained crossed he was able to hop around the yard We started him on a rehab program with the Gulf Coast Physical Therapy and after a few weekly sessions, he is able to run around the yard like the other dogs!! The legs are now uncrossed and he hops with his back legs, he has started to walk at times like a normal dog and we are hoping with some more underwater treadmill sessions that he will continue to improve. He will go out to the yard with the other dogs to urinate etc but at night only he cannot control himself and he sleeps in a crate with a puppy pad or a belly band. He is a sweet boy, he loves to be with people, he gets along with the other rescues but does not like big active dogs and will bark and chase them. We had a special cart made for him so that he can go on long trips around the neighborhood or to the dog park etc.. he still prefers to hop on his own, but it works great for when he gets tired. we do have videos avail for anyone interested in adopting him, he does have some urine staining on his back legs and body and most of it will come out when he gets a bath, but he is not perfect and an owner will need to give him weekly baths. OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with no children under the age of 8, and experienced dog owners only. WE REQUIRE VET RECORDS ON YOUR CURRENT OR PAST DOG FOR OUR REVIEW. RECORDS MUST SHOW THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER AS THE OWNER The total adoption fee of $500 ( and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, distemper and canine influenza, and microchip. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. Our application is online at https://www.houstonshaggydogrescue.org/apply/

Story
Fred ( front ) and Ethel .. were surrendered to SI ACC. Fred is about 2 and Ethel is maybe a year ...she acts like a puppy. They pretty much eat, sleep, and, play together. Fred will sometimes grumble when he wants space from my dogs or sometimes from Ethel.. nothing more than noise, though. They are very sweet and loving pups. Ethel will lay on my head or chest and Fred tries to get as close as possible. They are both desperate for love. This pair would make a great addition to any family, but with older children...Fred can be growly at times!  they are young, happy, playful and ready to be part of a forever home.  Two is always better than one!!!They are app 20 lbs each. AND Yes, poodle type hair. Please go to the link to fill our our adoption application.  https://www.remembermerescueny.net/adoption-application  Remember Me Rescue does not adopt out of the local area, no transport is available.  We adopt to Long Island, Westchester, NYC area and parts of Connecticut only. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you! ##2278919##

Story
Meet Demeter~ Demeter and sibling are as cute as can be! These little balls of fluff are super happy, alert, and social! They love everyone and know no strangers! Picked up off the streets of Texas, these babies are all vetted and in foster homes just waiting to be adopted! Puppies are 11 weeks old. *The adoption fee is $450.00 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, leash and collar, ProHeart 12 (adults), and the mandatory CT HB 5368 exam. BREED IDENTIFICATION: Please understand that many rescue dogs are mixes of multiple breeds. Petfinder allows us to choose up to two breeds per dog. While the shelters and our rescue do our best in accurately identifying breeds, breed identification is not guaranteed. If there is a certain breed that you do not want, it is very important that you share this with our rescue when applying. When adopting a puppy, breed uncertainty plays a big part in the size/look of the dog as an adult. Please know that any puppy can be a wonderful dog, regardless of preconceived notions of certain breeds, but it is very important that the adopter has the dedication and patience to raise the puppy with boundaries, consistency, structure, & love. The more effort you give towards training & time you allow for exercise, your puppy will grow to be a HUGE source of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, TOTAL LOYALTY, HAPPINESS, COMFORT & COMPANIONSHIP! ABOUT OUR RESCUE: We are a small rescue run by volunteers & focused on finding the right match for both our dogs & for you. If you are interested in adopting through our rescue, you first will need to complete an adoption application & be approved as a potential adopter before meeting any of our pups. No need to be intimidated by our application as it allows us to get to know you & your lifestyle. Of course, the more you can share the better! Please also note, while a fenced yard is fantastic, it is not required by our rescue, however, it may be required for a certain dog occasionally. Once adoption applicants are approved to become potential adopters, we offer private appointments where you can meet one or several dogs at the discretion of the rescue. We offer a unique & pleasant experience focused on finding the perfect match. It is extremely important to us that everyone is treated with respect & that NO ONE IS LEFT HANGING. WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU WITHIN 2 TO 3 DAYS of application submission. If there is a dog you are eager to meet, please TEXT US DIRECTLY at 203-241-2351 so that we can check the status of your application and move it forward immediately. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find your new best friend. *All adult dogs can be cat tested by request. HOME/RENTER INSURANCE: SOME PROVIDERS HAVE VERY STRICT POLICIES REGARDING WHICH TYPE OF DOG BREEDS ARE ALLOWED UNDER THEIR COVERAGE. STATE FARM WAS SUGGESTED TO US AS THEY DO NOT PUNISH, DROP, NOR REFUSE YOU DUE TO DOG BREED SHOULD YOU RUN INTO ISSUES WITH YOUR CURRENT PROVIDER.
