Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: YesGood with kids: YesCrate trained: MostlyHouse Trained: YesHere’s Benji!! The calmest and cutest muppet-looking doodle you ever did see. He has the most captivatingly soulful eyes and an endearing, tender temperament that makes him truly lovable from the moment you meet him. This boy is sure to leave an indelible mark on the lives of one very fortunate family. Psst…he also has a sister, Sadie!Benji and his sister were completely neglected by their owner and found roaming the streets, their survival solely hinging on the kindness of neighbors who fed them. Despite Benji’s past, he is a very well-behaved and trusting pup—nearly perfect in every way. His only flaw is that he can get a little jumpy when excited, but he is otherwise a very chill canine. He is great with the kids he has met (ages 6-14), but due to his size and bounciness, a home with younger children is not advised. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and loves to play with them. He’s naturally intuitive to their body language, knowing when to back off and give space as needed. He tolerates cats and is a passionate people-pleaser. He definitely has the poodle smarts and is super eager to learn.Benji absolutely LOVES water; when his foster would bring out the hose, he would go wild playing in it! He will sit calmly to be loved on and will lay on the floor at your feet for as long as you’ll allow. He had the luxury of a doggy door and a fenced-in backyard while fostered but is wonderful on a leash. With a regular routine, he will be just fine in a home without these conveniences. We’d be remiss not to mention that he is a potential flight risk. However, when he did run out the door, he stayed in the yard and would return if left alone—unless you try to chase him, then it’s game on as he thinks you’re engaging in a round of catch-me-if-you-can.If you are looking for a foot warmer for those long winter months and a swimming buddy for those sweltering summer days, Benji’s your boy! He is a truly extraordinary companion who deserves a loving home where he is cherished and cared for. Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. Story
Meet River! She is about 11 months old, 52 lbs, and she likely has some boxer and doodle in her mix! River is one of a large unwanted litter. She is housetrained, working on being more comfortable left home alone and does OK on leash walks. We would recommend that she goes to a home with a fenced-in yard as she feels the safest there. She will need a patient person to continue to teach her how to be a great adult dog. She could go to a home with kids 5+ and possibly cats. No apartments, please! She isn't the biggest fan of other dogs and would do likely do best as an only pup, although she has warmed up to her canine foster sister after living with her for a few weeks. She hasn't live with cats since she came into our care however, she would likely do OK with a dog-savvy cat and slow introductions.River has some separation anxiety and will need someone who's home more often than not. We have a group of volunteer certified positive reinforcement trainers that we partner with and they will be able to work with River's new family to help her feel more comfortable when being left home alone. Her foster says, "River is very smart and eager to learn. She's a great listener and settles down when she needs to! She will make a great family dog/adventure friend...the most loyal best friend her lucky adopter(s) will ever have."She is available for adoption in Worcester, MA by appointment with an approved adopter. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com

Story
Meet Bones! Bones is about 1 year old, 40 lbs, and he may have some Poodle in his mix! He was found as a stray by an elderly couple and is too much for them. In his foster home, he is working hard on his house-training, crate-training and leash-walking. He could live with other dogs and kids 10+. Cats are unknown. His foster says, "Bones is super smart! Eager to learn and eager to please...especially whenthere are treats involved! He's already mastered sit, paw, and fetch. He loves to play with other dogs and can be a bit vocal when he gets super excited. He does best with pets over 20 lbs and kids 10 and older. He loves going for walks, runs, playing in the yard and raiding the toy basket. He loves all the attention he can get! At the end of the day, he loves nothing more than cuddling on the couch with his humans and four legged friends. He'd make a great family dog/adventure buddy...the most loyal bff his lucky adopter(s) will ever have!"He is available for adoption in Hopkinton by appointment.
