She enjoys relaxing indoors and chewing on her favorite nylabones but has bursts of playful energy, especially with other dogs. She’s great on a leash and mostly ignores other dogs and cats during walks, though she benefits from slow introductions in certain situations. While she hasn’t been around children, her gentle and affectionate nature suggests she’d do well with kids of any age. Jilly is crate and house trained, settles quickly, and has no issues with barking or accidents. She’s a big fan of lounging on the couch when inside. With her shy but sweet temperament, Jilly would thrive in a home that appreciates her calm nature while enjoying her occasional playful side. She’s ready to bring love and warmth to her forever family- is she the one for you? Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org. Story
MEET LEO!!Leo is a poodle mix who was surrendered due to his owner`s health. We can tell he was very loved, and now he is looking for a new loving home!! He is a sweet boy who has a few `quirks` as we like to call them. Don`t we all? Leo is an anxious boy, and so he`s looking for someone to be with him most of the time. We are also recommending he go home to a dog sibling to help him through the times his person isn`t home with him. He truly is a gem, and just wants someone to love! Being a poodle mix, Leo will need consistent grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Leo is not a huge fan of having his face and paws touched/shaved, so talking to your vet + groomer about a plan ahead of time will be important! Please come meet this sweet boy in Brewster!!!Leo has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and been examined by our vet. He was shaved when he came to us so his coat is a clean slate for his new family. For more information on Leo or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
Here is Pancake, my lovely grandson. His mother is to the right in the first picture, named Pickles. Pancake was born on 12/6/23 as a singleton. It was one of the funniest days of my life because he came out as a singleton (one puppy), which is not so common. I did an extensive amount of research on how to prevent only-child syndrome, and he was raised in a house with four young children and two other dogs. We have a dog walker who has helped me learn to walk two medium dogs and a stroller simultaneously. Pancake does so well that she has asked if he can be a part of her pack of unleashed dogs that she takes in the woods. He is well-tempered, not a barker, only when necessary unknown guests and late at-night noises. He is still, in fact, a puppy, so there are the occasional shoes or toys that the children leave lying around, but not often. He has been with us since birth, so I know and closely worked on his training. I do expect him to be neutered.
