Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 01/18/25 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray in the Lowcountry of SC, transferred to CPR from a partner shelter in their area Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Rosie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Rosie was found as a stray which means we are unsure of her exact heritage. Her natural tail, broader forehead and broader nose makes us think she is most likely a golden doodle. However, we are not sure of this and only know that her coat was matted and so far, she does not appear to shed.  We cannot confirm that she is hypoallergenic.  Weight: 51 lbs - Rosie is on thin side and needs to gain weight Height: 23 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Rosie requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Whether you're a single person, a couple, or a family, Rosie will fit right in. She’s good with kids of all ages, though we recommend teaching younger children to be gentle and kind with her. Rosie will need another dog in the home, however you will need four hands because she is going to want as much love as your other pup! She follows her furry friends closely on what to do and when, but also wants all of the love your heart can give. Rosie is a big girl, so she’ll need a home with a fenced-in yard to roam and play in.  What is my personality like? Say hello to Rosie, the most loving and affectionate girl you’ll ever meet! Rosie adores people and craves attention. When you pet her, she’ll nudge her head into your hand, and if you stop, she’ll gently place her paw on your arm to remind you she’s not done yet. She’s also a hugger! Rosie loves to wrap her paws around you for a big, heart-melting embrace. With her big brown eyes and sweet nature, it’s impossible not to fall in love with her. Although Rosie may bark at other dogs when they pass by her crate, she settles down once she’s out and about. She gets along great with Ralphie, who came in with her, but she hasn’t had much interaction with other dogs here. At the moment, Rosie is a little on the skinny side and will need some extra love at mealtime to reach her ideal weight. Rosie already knows how to sit and walks well on a leash. With some patience and positive reinforcement, she’ll be eager to learn more basic commands from her new family. This sweet girl has a heart overflowing with love that she shares with everyone she encounters. She’s guaranteed to fill your life with joy, warmth, and endless affection.  Loving and sweet. She is the most gentle and loving girl you will ever meet and everything you could ever want in a canine companion. How do I act when I first meet new people? Rosie is a tad shy at first meeting but she’s never nervous or standoffish. Her shyness melts away quickly and she soon has her head in your lap and will often give you a hug if you are standing up. Rosie’s heart is big and full of love, and she can’t wait to share it with you! Other tips and tidbits: Rosie was a stray, so we are unsure of her actual birthdate.  The shelter vet who examined Rosie felt she was only about three years old.  We are celebrating her birthday on the anniversary of the date she was found of 1/8/22.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. January 24, 2025, 6:09 pm

Shadow is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 1/15/25 Shadow had a dental polishing.  Weight: 45 lbs - Shadow is still gaining weight. He should weigh at least 50 lbs. Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Shadow requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Shadow would do best in a home where he has the time and patience of an adopter willing to put in the work to train him. He walks well on a leash, but some refresher training would be beneficial to help him master proper leash manners. He will also need guidance on basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down. With the right treats, praise, and patience, Shadow will quickly learn these skills and build a strong bond with his new family. Although Shadow is great with people, he’s still working on his socialization with other dogs. At the moment, he hasn’t found a best buddy or a pack here, but we’re continuing to help him become more comfortable around other dogs. He would likely thrive in a home where he’s the only dog or with another dog who can match his energy. Shadow would fit in well with a single person, a couple, or a family, though due to his size and exuberance, we recommend a household with children 12 and older. He’s playful, but he may unintentionally knock over younger children when he gets excited. What is my personality like? Say hello to Shadow a spirited, happy, and playful young dog who’s looking for a forever home where he can thrive and share his boundless affection. Though he may have a big bark at first, it’s only a sign of his protective nature. Beneath the bravado is a sweet soul who just wants to be loved. Shadow came to us as an owner surrender to a local shelter, severely matted and underweight. It was the most significant transformation we've ever been part of - almost 8 pounds of hair removed from his body. He literally could not lift a leg to urinate.  After some much-needed grooming and plenty of good food (he’s now eating three meals a day to help him gain weight), Shadow is on his way to being the healthy, happy dog he deserves to be. Shadow absolutely loves people. Once he’s had a chance to assess that you’re safe, he’ll eagerly approach for pets and affection. His initial reaction to unfamiliar faces is often a deep bark - he’s just making sure everyone is trustworthy! But don’t worry, a few kind words and some time spent sitting calmly will soon win him over. He’s a playful pup, so be prepared for some gentle nipping during playtime as he gets excited! Shadow is a big dog with a playful, puppy-like spirit. Though he’s over four years old, he still loves to romp and play with people. He’s full of energy and joy, and his playful nature will keep you on your toes! Despite everything he’s been through, Shadow is a fun, loving, and joyful dog who is ready to be someone’s lifelong companion. If you have the time, patience, and love to give him, we have no doubt that Shadow will bring endless happiness to your life. How do I act when I first meet new people? At first, Shadow might bark at someone he doesn’t know. This is just his way of saying “hello” and making sure you’re safe. But after a few minutes of calm conversation and sitting down to show him you’re friendly, he’ll soon be coming over for pets and play. Other tips and tidbits: The shelter told us his birthdate was 8/31/2019.  We do not have documentation to support this so assume the owners gave them this information.  House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Story
This handsome boy is called Beamer and he is a 3 year old 42 pound Poodle. while he doesn’t have the Poodle cut for his face, we can see from his tail to his body conformation that he is most likely a Standard Poodle.  What you can see immediately about Beamer is that he is happy and has a fabulous smile for everyone.  He ended up in a shelter in Tennessee and they held him for 2 weeks to see who might come forward and no one stepped up.  While he might have been a stray, it has not dimmed his bright personality nor ended his love for giving everyone his electric smile.  He is great with other dogs, has been fully vetted and is healthy.  This boy loves to run and play with other dogs in the fenced play yard and soak up all the attention he can get from the humans he encounters.   This is a rare offering to consider adopting a young, healthy Poodle like this who has a sweet temperament and so well-rounded.  He is good on a leash and pretty much has demonstrated that he is housebroken.  Beamer only wants to bring joy and love to someone and in return receive a place to belong and a family that will cherish him.  If you are a family with a fenced yard, time to train and polish this boy to be the best possible companion you have ever loved in your lifetime of owning a dog.  Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 21, 2025, 1:52 pm

Story
Teddy is a mild mannered Maltese poodle. He's a senior, around age 8-9. He's house trained and is good with kids. I have to rehome him because I just ended a 5 yr relationship and I have to now relocate. No pets are allowed there. My heart is very heavy because I love Teddy greatly. I can no longer afford to give him the proper care that he needs and deserves without financial support. He is healthy but he is in need of grooming. One of his favorite treats are blueberries. We were told to keep him away from tomatoe based foods or anything red. He's sensitive to a lot of sunlight. He loves to be rubbed on his belly and spoken to softly. He's used to hearing the words "I love you Teddy" and senses when you feel sad.
