You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HARRY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU,BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND.Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when he no longer wanted to hunt. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
After spending OVER A YEAR in a small, rural shelter, Harriet is ready for the good life!! This beautiful senior girl is sweet as pie and has so much to offer the family that gives her a chance. Harriet is a gentle soul who gets along great with other dogs and tends to go with the flow. She is housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Harriet enjoys going for walks, laying in the sun, and snuggling on the couch getting belly rubs and ear scratches. After all she`s been through, Harriet deserves the best in her golden years - and that`s just what we`ve promised her! Please help us find her the amazing forever home she`s been waiting her whole life for. *BUCKY`S ADOPTION FEE IS FULLY SPONSORED*Hello, my name is: BuckyDOB: 3/5/2016Sex/Breed: Neutered male Treeing Walker CoonhoundWeight: 55 lbsRescued From: Found strayWhen we learned our recently rescued senior Harriet had a senior buddy at the shelter, we knew we could not leave him behind. Meet Bucky, a handsome older hound with a story to tell. Bucky was found stray with several shotgun pellets causing painful wounds that needed medical attention. After getting the care he needed, Bucky waited patiently for a family to fall in love with him - but that family never came. We`re so glad we were able to offer him a safe exit and a loving foster home where he can get the love and attention he deserves. Bucky is a total sweetheart that is thankful for any kindness he`s offered. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys romping in the yard with his canine pals. Bucky has done well with everyone he`s met and promises to make a wonderful companion. Please help show this special older guy how great a dog`s life can be by offering him a forever home! All our pets are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.Interested in adopting?
