Story
Esme is a simple girl that came to our attention at Critter Cavalry Rescue as she struggled to find a place to raise her 7 puppies that she birthed.  The odds were stacked but she managed to bring 3 of the 7 puppies through to the place that they could be adopted during the coming weeks.  This girl is 2 years old, weighs 35 pounds and has a sleek, beautiful demeanor that speaks to everyone she meets with a kindness and courage.  Esme is learning how to enjoy the niceties of being an inside dog as she has raised her puppies.  She is housebroken, crate trained and is good with all the other dogs and cats at the foster home.  She is around young active children (boys) and she keeps her calm demeanor through all the activities of the children. She loves people so much and just to be with someone.  She is food motivated and very bright and can learn so much if you use the treat method to win her attention and desire to learn a trick or commands. She is a great medium energy girl that is ready to chase a toy or ball but has not gotten the memo on how to bring it back to the person who threw it. She is wonderful on a leash and has a slight playful side to her. This pretty girl is really not big at all and on the smaller side of a Lab and she demands little from life or her people.  We are wanting the sun, moon and stars for her future with a new family. Could you give that to her?  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Liam the lover is a handsome 2 year old,  37 lb mix who wants to greet people with lots of dog kisses and will quickly make you his friend.  WIth his striking golden eyes and silky brown coat his kisses are hard to resist!  He loves goving for long walks with his foster and does not pull on the leash too much.  He is interested in everything--smells, people (including little ones), dogs and other animals, and bicycles and scooters that pass.  He loves to be with other dogs and would be happy to be in a home with a dog sibling or would be fine as an only dog. His foster says he rides well in a car and is accustomed to being crated at night.  He enjoys getting his energy out and then he will relax in the house and snuggle with his people.  He is housetrained but will probably need a little refresher when he moves homes.   Don't you want some kisses from Liam?  Come meet him at one of our adoption shows! PAW places animals in the Washington DC/Baltimore metropolitan area only. ##2088005##

Story
Meet beautiful Remi! He is about 8 months old and 27 lbs. Remi is the perfect speed - he's calm and peaceful in the house, but loves the zoomies and to run and play outside! He's up for any adventure, which helps that he's great in the car. Remi is so incredible with dogs, and will definitely need another canine companion in his new home. He can be a little shy with people initially, but give him a few moments to settle in, and he'll be your shadow! He is doing amazing in his home with 4 other dogs, of all ages and sizes. He's taken to following around the 9 year old girl, and happily receives snuggles from the 3 and 6 year old boys. Remi has also be respectful of the cat. He's doing great in his crate and with house training. Remy would love a family who will take the time to train him, and to continue to socialize him by bringing him to new places and meeting new people. He's still growing, so we expect him to be around 35-40 lbs when full grown. Remi is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Meet gorgeous Red! He is about 8 months old and 27 lbs. This boy is just as beautiful inside as he is outside. He and his brother, Remy, were found in West Virginia and just made their way to foster homes in Virginia, where they are thriving! Red can be a bit timid initially, but give him a few moments to settle in, and he'll be your best friend! He is super snuggly and loves to give kisses to his human foster brothers. Red loves playing with the two large Golden doodles in his home, but he's also happy to hang in the house and rest while his family works. He's still growing, so we expect him to be around 35-40 lbs when full grown. Red is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. Story
If you`re looking for a dog to go on adventures with and keep you entertained, then you HAVE to meet Reds! He is striking in person with his rich red coat and hazel eyes. He`s known to have a very derpy face every once in a while and not fully understand how toys/balls work, but it`s sure to keep you laughing. He`s a young active dog so daily walks, mental stimulation with puzzles or sniffaris, and training will be important in his new home. Reds is very people oriented and often checks in with his handler which will make training and bonding with him fun and enjoyable. He pulls some initially on leash, but once he has had a few minutes to handle his business, he settles into a nice pace. He absolutely loves running around and exploring the big run. Come meet Reds today! As previously reported Reds is a young, energetic, handsome fellow. He leashes up easily, does his business outside, and loves to smell everything! He showed some interest in playing with a ball, and from his energy level I suspect he would be a tireless companion to an owner who likes to run, hike, or go for long walks. He seems friendly with both humans and other dogs. With a short smooth coat, his grooming needs should be easy to handle.

Story
Meet the fabulous Sklyar, an affectionate, cuddly pup whose primary passion in life is her person. Skylar has been through formal training, has excellent house manners, and knows multiple commands. She has learned to go to her “place” when it’s food time or her foster mom has company, and does well meeting new people and visitors. Skylar is insecure around other dogs and would love to be an only-dog getting all the love and attention. Skylar was rescued by a Good Samaritan running as a stray in rural SC. She was just a young pup and was fortunate to have someone looking out for her. The Good Samaritan took Sklyar into her home which included two kids, three dogs, and a cat. She did a gradual introduction of Sklyar to her pack, taking more than a week to fully integrate her, and that slow introduction worked well. Skylar was respectful to the other dogs in her home and settled in well to home life. She quickly proved to have excellent house manners - crate trained, housetrained, and does great being left home alone. We brought Skylar to the DC Metro to start her new life over a year ago, and she’s been living as an only dog in Baltimore. We discovered she was more anxious in an urban environment and needed work on her leash skills and meeting other dogs. Skylar went through formal training, and our trainer worked closely with her foster mom, Terri, to show her how to read Skylar’s body language and manage her on leash.  Since graduating from training, we’ve seen significant breakthroughs. Skylar has learned to focus on Terri when they go for walks, and she’s become desensitized to the neighborhood dogs. If she does get excited, she recovers quickly, and her recall is much improved. Sklyar has pretty exemplary house manners and knows multiple commands. She has learned to go to her “place” when it’s food time or her foster mom has company, and does well meeting new people and visitors. Overall, she is a fun, loving pup who comes with a few quirks, but don’t we all? You will not find a more loyal and committed pup.  She is the ultimate companion. The best home for Skylar would be one in a quiet, low-traffic neighborhood with a fenced yard to romp and play in. Her favorite things in life are running, playing fetch, and snuggling on the couch. Because Skylar lacks confidence in new situations, she needs an adopter with leadership skills — someone who will set the rules, give her some boundaries, and help build her confidence. She will gladly comply with lots of love and kisses because she aims to please. It’s hard to understand why some dogs get all the attention while others get overlooked time and time again. This sweet girl is LONG overdue for her happy ending.  Apply today to learn more about Skylar and give her a chance. ******** Worthy Dog is committed to Skylar and her success and will donate a training session to help Skylar’s new family transition her into their home. We are also open to FOSTER-TO-ADOPT for serious adopters. ******* BREED ESTIMATE: Vizsla/Hound/Bully Mix GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 51 lbs APPROXIMATE AGE: ~2.5 years old COAT TYPE:  Short ADOPTION FEE: $400 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION: Baltimore, MD   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Story
Our pretty little girl is called Cora and what a loving and sweet little Pointer mix girl she truly is.  She loves playing with other dogs and sleeping in the bed with her foster mom.  This little girl was one of 8 puppies left in an outdoor pen and basically abandoned by the former owner when they loved.  Neighbors stopped by for 3 months to feed and water the puppies and sadly that was all.  They grew and grew and eventually started fighting over the little food they had and the small pen was just so confining. One of the great Critter Cavalry Rescue foster moms heard of their plight and went to get them out of their hot, and confining pen that offered no exercise and not enough food daily…and NO HUMAN LOVE.  Now Cora and her siblings are seeking homes where they can spread their wings and bask in the love and care of their new families.  Cora is remarkably loving and fun and seems to not have been emotionally stunted by their early months of growing up abandoned.  We know that she loves other dogs!  She plays with a 45 pound black lab male that is a year old and “Her and Bo are like two peas in a pod”.  They absolutely love playing together, tug of war, chasing each other in the yard, or just sleeping in the dog bed together.  Cora is good with cats and loves the young children that are in the home, even with all their noise and high energy play.  She is almost there with her potty training and she is good with being in the crate at times needed.  Cora relates to people and loves them.  She always needs to be right by someone and loves to lay on your feet. She has learned not to be possessive of her good or toys as she first started out being.  We totally understood the possessiveness and now she is relaxed and eager to share.  This pretty girl and her siblings have come such a long way.  We are so happy for them to be in out foster care and receiving the love that they so readily deserve.  If you really want to adopt a “rescued dog” then Cora is the total definition of a rescued puppy! If you are interested in making her your own please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com!!! Story
Sometimes in the rescue world our stories about a dog we are presenting for a home just kind of leaves us a little speechless for adequate words. This boy that we call “Good Friend Charlie” is one of those deep and touching stories that we know only God had a hand in making come true as he was rescued. His foster mom Rachel calls him “a dream dog!”  But when she stumbled upon him hanging out on her countryside property where she raises chickens and geese and many other dogs that belong to her…she was not so sure of his friendly intentions.  We believe Charles was dumped in her area where he roamed for approximately 3 months, many attempting to catch him but failing as he was smart and elusive.  He roamed onto foster mom, Rachel’s property and within 2 days came out of survival mode (he would bark and bark at her while she was outside tending to her geese and chickens) and when she offered him a blanket one night as he laid in her flowerbed all curled up in 10 degree weather, he soon came back into domesticated mode the next morning.  Because of being abandoned, Good Friend Charlie has some separation anxiety and will need you to be patient while you earn his trust that he won’t be abandoned again and that you will come back for him when you leave.  This boy loves all other animals; dogs, cats, geese, chickens and he loves people of all ages.  He is only 3 years of age and weighs 50 pounds.  We think the grey on his face might be from early stress in his life.  Maybe from uncertainty that he has felt in whatever former life he lived. Good Friend Charlie is well-trained and knows how to sit, stay, lay down, off and wait. He even waits for permission to exit the door and waits for you to tell him he can eat his food.  He does well on a leash but he prefers to roam on his own and rarely will go more than 4 feet from you. This special dog would be wonderful for someone that does live on some acreage and just wants an indoor and outdoor companion and who is working from home or just retired and kicking back in their life.  He loves to ride in the car shotgun style in the passenger seat and he is a homebody’s best friend.  Charlie knows exactly what he wants and will alert you with a few barks to let you know he wants to go outside, or his water bowl is empty, or even when he is ready for bedtime and he is house trained.  He does have some jealousy if you are giving attention to other animals but he is easily corrected and gets better daily as he learns more about coexisting in this new home environment.  He takes to correction like a champ!  If you really want to adopt a dog that is the definition of “Man’s Best Friend” then Good Friend Charlie is your dog for a lifetime.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to ask about an adoption application. Story
Please contact Rachel Durnin (racheld2@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Handsome young man looking for a home!RANDALL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!       Name:   Randall          Best Guess for Breed:   Pointer and hound mix      Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of February 2024          SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   38 lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! Randall was tested with cats and showed interest in them. We would be cautious about placing him in a home with a cat unless the cat has lived with dogs before.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Randall is Looking For:    His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this handsome boy ended up in the shelter. He is full of fun, young dog energy and is ready to have his own humans to trot alongside on sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! Exploring all the toys sounds great too, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.   Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all his days.   What do you say? Is Randall the companion you've been looking for? What My Foster Says About Me:     'Randall is a good boy with a big heart and huge eyes who LOVES his humans. He’s been loving and gentle with both dogs and people of all ages. People really do light up in a smile as they pass him on the sidewalk because his happiness and enthusiasm are infectious. Whether in the neighborhood or dog park, he makes friends wherever he goes and looks like he’s asking, “are you my forever home?” He is great with his crate, sleeps through the night, is very food motivated, and is adaptive to his environment as long as he gets reassuring pets and kisses from his people. He’s adaptive to activity level, too: he loves to sniff on walks and would have the stamina for long outdoor activities, but he knows how to chill out at home with his humans.' Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
