ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Baron (called Bo-Bo by his foster family) is a handsome 8-year-old Schnauzer Mix that weighs 16lbs. He is a sweet, easy-going, and soulful guy with balanced playful/calm energy and an irresistible underbite! He is extremely smart, attentive, and eager to please – always checking in with his person to see if he is on the right track with things. He enjoys walks around the neighborhood, chasing squeaky stuffies (he doesn’t destroy them), and snuggling on the couch. Most of all, he is a “people-person” and prefers to stick close with his human. Bo-Bo has a dental scheduled (we are currently fundraising for this) so he will have healthy chompers. He can be a little apprehensive in new settings – new people, sudden movements and sounds can spook him so best to use a reassuring, gentle approach with him. For potty-time, Bo-Bo knows how to use the doggy door, but with another male dog in the house, can occasionally mark – this is usually temporary when adjusting to a new setting. He is good on a leash, calm and relaxed for car rides and behaves nicely during bath time. When it’s time to chill, Bo-Bo would love to cuddle up in bed next to you – UNDER the covers – and sleep all through the night. He is not a fan of being crated. He is a total sweetheart who would benefit from a daily routine, structure and LOVE. He can be somewhat picky with food (but he loves his Just Food for Dogs meals) and he takes treats gently. The best fit for Bo-Bo would be with a loving family/person who is home often and can spend time with him. He would do well with older children who are respectful and gentle – he currently lives with two 8-year-olds and is happy to snuggle with them on the couch or play a game of fetch. He would be good with a doggy pal but might actually prefer to be the only furry object of your affection. As a Schnauzer, he will require regular grooming. He's quite the little furry gentleman and will be a great addition to the family. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  February 9, 2025, 12:30 pm

Story
Hola, I am so excited that whoever is reading this might be my new family. I have been living in the streets of Baja my whole life and all I've wanted is a cozy place to rest and lots of cuddles. My love language is definitely snuggles as I am not that food motivated. I am SUPER easy going! I seem to always make people smile with my goofy personality and big smile. Although I love to chill I am so excited any time we go for an adventure. I love running around on the beach and have started showing interest in playing with other dogs. I get along with other dogs big or small, all humans and every other animal we have encountered (cats, cows, birds). I have many different looks, have you seen my hair transformation on Instagram @expedition.ola. When they found me I looked like a cute fluffy Bearded Collie. But after my first ever haircut I now look like a well groomed designer dog haha. I am adorable both ways so you can have fun with my hairstyles. I will be the best addition to any family and I am grateful you want to adopt a dog like me!

Story
Koda was a gift during a time of transition and just weeks before we found out we were expecting. Since he was a puppy, he’s always preferred cuddling and has very high energy. For the most part, Koda has been good with the older kids in his life (5-7 yo); however, he doesn’t seem to understand that our newest family member is just not there yet. We’ve tried many techniques to introduce them and he still doesn’t seem to understand. Koda is loved; but, unfortunately, since he doesn’t do well on walks with baby, it has gotten hard to do group family outings and we realize he deserves a companion/family with whom he can be his loving, energetic, and cuddly self. We aren’t charging an adoption fee because we genuinely just want a happy life for him and we are hoping we can find that here. We have gone back and forth between this decision and are saddened to be here, but also very hopeful.
