Story
Loving, loyal to a fault, and springs in his feet - that's how we would describe super pup Scrappy! This sweet boy is around 1 year old and we believe he is a mix of many breeds of dog including Terrier, Whippet, Lab and Carolina Dog. His mom was a Chihuahua, Poodle and Shepherd mix. He has flying nun ears, long thin legs and speed of a Whippet but is slightly thicker with short golden fur and the playful, cuddly personality of a Terrier. Scrappy's favorite things are walks, playing with stuffed toys and cuddling with his people! His snuggles are second to none and he will find a way to tuck his body in a tight little ball next to yours on the couch. He is a champion snuggler and couch cuddles are a must have for this boy in his forever home. He is a lovebug that bonds closely to his family and loves to shadow you around the house. He does not live with any kids but his foster mom says he takes treats very gently and he is on his best behavior around kids of all ages, especially teenagers. Sometimes, though, little kids can be a little too busy and unpredictable for him and since he is not used to that, Scrappy would probably do best in a home with kids aged 8 years old and older. Scrappy has a lot of young dog energy and is looking for an active family that can help Scrappy channel that energy in positive ways. He is very athletic and enjoys doing zoomies in his foster family's backyard so would prefer a home with his own yard to run and play in or the ability to go to a local dog park to run around and stretch his legs. He loves to go for walks and goes on a few short walks a day in his foster home but he would also be a good running and hiking buddy. He rides well in the car and enjoys going for adventures. His foster mom gives him snuffle mats and puzzle toys to work his brain and he is an expert at dissecting squeakers out of stuffed toys. He is very fast and loves to jump and play so we think he'd excel in dog sports such as agility, dock diving or frisbee. He has already mastered agility jumps and is a quick learner eager to please. He is very good with other dogs once he gets to meet them and is a social, playful boy that does great at dog parks and the dog beach. He would really love a dog buddy in his forever home that matches his playstyle but would be ok on his own with a strong pack leader human and as long as he had social playdates with dog friends or visits to the dog beach, park and/or dog daycare. Scrappy has learned his basic commands and is always ready to learn more; he thrives with a routine, really wants to please and is very food motivated, which makes training fun with this boy. He has mastered Sit, Down, Up, and Over and also knows his name, Come, and Go Potty. He is housetrained in his current foster home with regular visits outside and will often sit by the backdoor when he needs to go out. Scrappy has come a long way with crate training in his foster home. He sleeps quietly at night in his crate and has learned it's ok to be in his crate when his foster family has to leave him. He would love a family where someone works from home or can take him to work with you but he settles down after a few minutes in his crate and can be crated for a few hours home alone especially when home alone with another dog close by to keep him company. He is looking for a family that can continue his training and set him up for success. Scrappy is a sweet, quirky boy and if you are lucky enough to adopt him then you will be rewarded with all the snuggles in the world!
