No out of state adoptions , Northern california will Not BE accepted. NOthing in the LA or La county will not be accepted. -- Needs to be in orange county - parts of South county is fine, or Yorba LINda -- prefer Orange County if possible Poor thing been Bounced around quite a bit.. Unforanately -- someone older lady couldn't take care of him any longer so this younger lady finally got him. Due her work schedule she couldn't keep him. Now he going to our rescue organization as of 7/8/24 he will be with Girls of Dog Rescue. Puppy criteria--- Puppies in our rescue MUST have another dog in the home between 1-4 years old under 15 pounds roughly -- Will not be able to go into a home by himself without any other dog present. He’s dog friendly Cat friendly Kid friendly He’s still potty training I noticed he only uses the restroom in the restroom -- NOT POTTY TRAINED He weighs about 16 pounds I’m guessing because he’s kind of heavy 8 months He’s not neutered or spayed-- Be scheduling soon as possible get him neutered. Not vaccinated --- tomorrow-- 7-7-24 Current location is Santa Ana California He doesn’t bite He gets A little anxiety --but I think it’s because he’s still adjusting to new things The owner has had him for 8 months-- the owner is getting older and she can take care of him and she just lost her husband. Hi, my name is Dexter. I'm a happy-go-lucky guy who got dealt a bad hand in life, but I am not letting that get me down. I live life to my fullest despite my mobility issues! I'm a seven year-old bundle of energy and joy. I'm a Maltese-poodle mix (who looks an awful lot like a Bichon, in my auntie's opinion!) I was born with a neurological disorder that affects my equilibrium and my ability to walk--but I don't let that get me down! I'm too smart for that...nothing stops me. BROC has equipped me with the latest and greatest doggie wheels, of course, and I'm a champion driver--but even without wheels I can scramble around the yard to chase my foster brother - as well as any other dog. My technique might not win awards, but I don't care! I get to where I want to go, with or without wheels. Speaking of "go"...I am fully housebroken. All I need is someone to take me to the "potty place" a few times a day (same as any other dog), and that is one of the reasons I need a special person. You see, I can't get to the yard on my own, and it isn't safe for me to be alone out there anyway. My special person also would need to ensure my safety in the home. Being that I'm not so graceful, my person needs to make sure the home is safe - without things that could harm me if I were to, let's say, meet them head-on at cruising speed. My current foster mom created a large, enclosed "Dexter Den" for me, complete with a big bed, my favorite toys, water of course, and plenty of space to move around. I stay in my den when my foster mom needs to leave the house. When she's home, I just hang out in my den or roam around. The bottom line is this: Apart from my neurological condition, I am a very normal, healthy dog who is full of joy and very loving. Everyone I meet falls in love with me, because I know how to put on the charm! I don't require a lot of work, but I do need special help and attention...thus it takes a special person. Take me to the park, the trails, the beach...I'm ready. But when it's time to settle down, I can give you all the cuddles you need. I'm a good listener, always ready to lend an ear when you've had a tough day. I am just 2 years old, but that makes me a teenager in human years--and we teenagers love food! I will do anything for it, which makes me easy to train. Just take one out and you have my attention! I already know some basics, like staying on path and not pulling on leash, but being young I still have more to learn. I'm smart as a whip, though (whatever that means) and I learn quickly. Plus, I love hearing those two words: "Good boy!" My Foster Mom says I give sweet cuddles and (gasp!) snores. She says I love my security dog bed (I'm very attached to it, I agree). She gives me great belly rubs, which I love, so I lay back for her to make it easy! I'm housebroken, I don't chew on furniture, I have my very own microchip, and I get along with my foster fur siblings. (Not cats, though. My idea of fun is to chase them around, and they don't like that much.) I am all up to date on my shots and medical exam. You might say I'm "move-in ready!
