Story
You may recognize Dunphy as a television celebrity. Dunphy is a 1-1/2 to 2 year old handsome, friendly, intelligent Akita blend who arrived to us as a stray. Upon rescue back in October 2023, we quickly realized he had double hip dysplasia. He has successfully had both hips repaired and rehabilitated. Dunphy was the beneficiary of our January Yard Sale, and Holly Bock with 3TV attended the event and spent four hours showcasing Dunphy, while he was still recovering from the first surgery. He's a wonderful guy and would love to find a forever home soon! Dunphy is residing with one of our amazing foster homes and will be available to meet from 10am-4pm on Saturdays, at the adoption center. You may also schedule a weekday meeting, by emailing Debbie@AzFriends.orgNo appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Please note this dog is NOT an official Underdog dog, and you will be connected with the person who has the dog. Please Contact Kylie, 847-854-9920, kcfletcher93@gmail.com:   MEET DUKE #16!! Duke is a happy, loving boy who only want love, snuggles and play time. He is wonderful with children, but he has not had many interactions with other animals, so that is an unknown. Duke is a young, high-energy boy. He needs an active person to give him lots of walks, runs and play time. He is house trained, crate trained, uses a doggy door and walks good on a leash.  Duke has been around other dogs, but would do best as only dog or with dog savvy parents with experience to make sure the right match.  Duke is looking for a new home at no fault of his own. His current is unable to meet his needs and energy level. Are you looking for a big, busy lovebug? Meet Duke today! If you are interested in meeting this dog, please visit our website for our online application www.underdogaz.com  PLEASE NOTE: This dog is courtesy posted for another individual or Rescue. Different policies and fees may apply. August 19, 2024, 7:19 pm

Story
I first met Roku in Dallas, Texas. He is a pure breed of Japanese Akita Inu. He was only three-month-old and just a little tiny pup. His birthday is Aug. 22, 2022. He is shy and sensitive but always super sweet and kind to me. Now he is about nine months old, and he never barked at me even once, never ran away once when I recall him. But when he is with me, when he's growing up now, I finally realize that maybe i am not the best owner for him, he deserves a better home and a happy doggy life with someone who can really spend a lot of time with him. There are some changes happening in my life and I will travel more frequently in the near future. It's really hard to make the decision but I hope the best for him and that he can be truly happy. The adoption fee there is setting a bar for selecting people who is financially stable and is serious about giving him a new home. But it's always negotiable, just reach out to me if you are an experienced dog owner. Thanks.

Story
Hello there, I'm Polar! I'm a Husky with a heart full of energy and love. I'm always up for a game of fetch or a good romp around the yard. I'm also a big fan of other dogs! Especially pups close to my size who can match my rowdy play style. I can be a bit too much for the smaller dogs though, so I'd do best in a home without them or any cats. I'm looking for an active household, where my high energy will be a perfect fit. I can't wait to go on long walks, hikes, or even just play in the backyard with you. I promise to be your loyal companion, always ready for the next adventure. Adopt me, and let's make some wonderful memories together! My adoption fee is $375 and includes the following: -Spay/neuter surgery -All current vaccinations -Microchip -FREE wellness exam through VCA Animal Hospitals -$25 gift voucher from our friends at My Pet Market For more information about me or to schedule a meet and greet appointment, please complete an adoption questionnaire.

Story
Adonis is a rescue from Maricopa County, estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs around 65 lbs. his breed is unknown but assumed to be a husky mix from looks and temperament. Not recommended to be in a home with cats. Great with kids! He is crate trained and UTD on all Vaccinations. Adonis makes a great family pup! He enjoys playing with his dog-siblings and loves any toy you give him. He is constantly charming you into giving him all the cuddles and pets. He is high energy (as most huskies are) and a home where he would get the enrichment and exercise he needs would be best! His personality is snuggly, goofy, and excitable. He will come with a crate, bed, treats, collar and leash!

Story
** ARIZONA ONLY ** Maizy was found by a very nice lady through NextDoor. Maizy was a one-year old Chihuahua rescue who someone needed to re-home. Emaciated and unsure but with a spark of hope in her eyes, Maizy stood in the yard ready to meet her new owner who was immediately in love. Though the cute little pup didn’t resemble a Chihuahua, she was small, weighing 11 lbs at just a year old. However, when Maizy’s new mama took her to the vet, he said she was not a Chihuahua and was a very young pup who would likely grow to be 30 pounds. Within one month, Maizy gained 9 pounds. She is now “really” a year old and weighs 36 pounds. She may have just a wee bit of filling out to do but will probably stay near her current and perfect medium size. Maizy has worked with a dog trainer; she did well and knows basic commands. A DNA test was done and it turns out Maizy is primarily Siberian Husky, as well as several other herding breeds! While not at all the dog this upper-middle-young-aged lady wanted to adopt, she loved Maizy and was going to try to make it work in spite of having a small patio-sized yard that would be perfect for a Chihuahua 😊 Recently, Mama took Maizy for a walk, tripped on the leash, and now requires wrist surgery. With this, and the realization that Maizy needs exercise and activity and a yard where she can run and enjoy some outdoor time, her mama is reluctantly seeking a new home for Maizy. This beautiful young and healthy girl is funny, energetic, playful, and very smart. She can be just a little bit shy initially but learns to trust and is happy to be part of the family. She would do well in a home with an active person or family who has time for her, and would also do well with another dog. Maizy is fully vetted – spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. We can set up a meet & greet upon approved application. Please email to request one.
