Story
Kito reminds us of those popular dog toys, the Squishmallow's. No one told him he was an Akita and is supposed to be stoic, protective and scary. He is ALL wiggles, smiles and LOVES his volunteers and rescue teams. The world outside is still kind of scary but with each event hes getting better and better. Before he would frantically spin the entire walk, but now he will patiantly sit on the grass at our Point Loma event or on a Pack Walk. True to any large dog, he doesn't know hes massive and anyone sitting on the grass is bound to have a Kito as a lap warmer. He loves hugs, brushes and being told how darn good looking he is. He is quite large, so he will need someone strong and well grounded to walk him in the event something spooks him unexpectedly. Although he's never met a person he didn't like, due to size, we are saying no kids under the age of 15, he's just WAY too goofy and tall. Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  No off leash activites for life in unfenced areas.  I need to stay safe.To adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/37765/genericTo foster: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/37764/genericEmail: awayhomefordogs@gmail.com ##1305366##

Story
Simba has spent too long waiting for his forever family. 💔 This strong and spirited Akita-Husky mix is full of energy, loves his toys, and is happiest on long walks or playing with his human. He’s sweet, loyal, and ready for the right home. If you’re looking for a dog with personality and heart, Simba is waiting to meet you! 🐕 Adopt Simba: https://form.jotform.com/221926016430144 Full profile: Simba is a 6-8-year-old Akita-Husky mix with the personality of an Akita and the heart of a lion. He’s playful, sweet, and full of energy but needs a confident and strong adopter who understands his needs. 💪 Strength & Training: Simba is powerful and can pull when excited, so he needs someone physically capable of managing his strength. He’s learning commands like sit, down, paw, and “potty” and thrives with structure. A harness might help with his pulling. 🐾 Energy & Personality: Simba is not always a couch potato! He loves long walks (2+ miles is no problem), playing with his toys, and getting plenty of attention. He’s affectionate and cuddly but always ready for adventure. 🏡 Home Needs: Simba would do best in a home without small children due to his strength and energy. He’s good with other dogs, especially more timid ones, but does best with boundaries around toys and space. He’s also quite the counter-surfer, so keeping things out of reach is key! 🐕 Health: Simba has a thyroid condition that is managed with treatment, giving him renewed energy and playfulness. Simba has had a lot of love and care from his foster, but he’s ready to find his forever home. If you’re looking for a strong, loyal, and playful companion, Simba could be your perfect match. 💙 Ready to meet Simba? Apply to adopt him and give this big-hearted boy the home he deserves. 📌 Share to help Simba find his forever home Currently being cared in Southern California, but can be transported up to northern states, such as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and anywhere within the US continental, if a great suitable family is willing to adopt him.

Nala is a purebred akita. She has been rehomed now 4 times now so i’m trying to find her a forever home. She’s very sweet and has tons of energy. Would prefer her to move into a home with a backyard, but has been an apartment dog so if needed. She may do better either being an only dog or in a home with a younger dog than her. She comes with a crate, her bowl, some toys, and her leash.

Story
Dorian is looking for his forever home!! Dorian was pulled from the shelter after spending 680 long days - nearly 2 years in LAs shelter system. Despite spending 2 years in an outdoor concrete kennel, with minimal human interaction, he held on to hope and has been the most resilient boy. Most dogs don’t last that long in high kill shelters, but Dorian was a staff favorite. He did well with volunteers who brought him out for play groups and they advocated for him to keep him alive. But still somehow no one wanted to adopt him. We saw a post about him and immediately knew we had to get this boy of that environment and into a foster home. Since then we have all fallen in love! We now understand why he was a staff favorite. He's the silliest Akita Inu mix, and he's as loyal and loving as they come. He is extremely handsome and the sweetest, most easy going guy. Dorian is crate trained, potty trained, and knows several commands. He can be nervous around strangers, but once he knows you, he loves you for life! Dorian is dog friendly, and he is an absolute goofball when he plays. Dorian loves to go for walks (cue the happy hops) and crash for a nap next to his person. He would be fantastic with a person with Akita experience or someone who understands/has researched the breed. Dorian is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and currently on flea tick and heartworm medication. Overall. he's in good health, and we believe he is around 6-7 years old and weighs 80 lbs. We recently did his DNA test with Embark, and he is an Akita Inu, American Akita, Pittie mix. If you’d like to see videos of Dorian you can visit the instagram page @fenwayfluff and see the story highlight called “Dorian”. He is currently being fostered in San DiegO

Story
Meet CeCe! After both of 14-year-old CeCe's owners passed away, their dear friend & neighbor took care of her in their home before it was sold. Her caregiver grew increasing worried about being able to find a loving new home for CeCe in time. He then heard about our Final Wish Program and entrusted CeCe to our care. Here is what he shared about her: * Very calm when meeting people * Good with children - friendly and accepting of pets * House-trained; accustomed to having access to yard through doggie door * Enjoys walks around the neighborhood - watch videos to see how nicely she walks on leash! * Well-behaved when home alone * Accepts food and treats gently * Likes being brushed Drop by to meet beautiful Cece between 10 AM and 3 PM any day of the week. She looks forward to meeting you!

Story
Her names nova she was covered in pee and matted when you was brought in. She has been to training classes and our family has done our best to try to keep her as long as we could while looking for a home. She has only been to basic training so she will need someone who is a good pack leader and consistent. I have not seen aggressive behavior but she does like to jump towards people (something I believe could easily be changed with the right person) she needs someone who is very active if not she will get bored and shred. She knows what crate means, sit, down (but you have to do the hand motion and she will follow your hand) she has two different colored eyes and is pretty fluffy. She is an amazing dog and it breaks our hearts we can’t fully adopt her just foster but we are in the military lifestyle and the next duty station already denied her. We will not let her go to just anyone the fee can be discussed with the right person and if we feel you are a good fit for her and vise versa
