Story
Skipjack is a delightful and stunning 2-year-old Akita mix currently in a foster home. Skipjack loves adventure and he would thrive with an active person or family. In his home there aren't children, but they do visit! He does well with an 8 and 13 year old but may be a little too bouncy for small children. Initially shy, Skipjack reveals his goofy and affectionate nature once he warms up. He loves belly rubs and can’t get enough of the water, often splashing around in the dog pool. He does have a bit of a prey drive and might get distracted by rabbits or squirrels on walks, but he generally walks well on a leash. He would also prefer a home without cats. Skipjack is a sweetheart, responding well to direction and training, but he will need a committed owner to continue his training. He hasn’t had any accidents in his designated space and he is crate trained. He is generally well behaved, he is working on his excitement when meeting new people! Skipjack is a lovable, high-energy dog who would be a great companion for an active individual or family willing to continue his training and provide him with the attention he needs. You must be over 21 and a home owner to adopt me. Please visit www.pittiesandpurrs.org to fill out an application. For further information contact adoptpitties@gmail.com

Story
Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! For instance, I am a busy boy, I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.gorgeous husky mix ISO love and central air! GLORIA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Gloria     Best Guess for Breed:  Akita and shepherd mix Best Guess for Age:   6 years as of November 2024     Gender: Female Approximate Weight:   49 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested Currently Living At: DC area foster home. Special Adoption Considerations: Gloria is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Gloria Is Looking For: Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own, and can't wait to once again have her own humans. She's eager for long sniffy walks and all the adventures her new family can dream up. Note her thick, dense coat. She has a preference for adventures in cool places - the mountains over the beach, Vermont or Montana, and oh yeah - Starbucks for pup cups. And quality kibble and and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list too. But you know what she wants most of all? To know where she belongs, to know who her people are, and to be safe and loved. In exchange, she offers her stockpile of adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days.  What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Meet Cali: A Loving, Playful Companion Looking for Her Forever Home It’s with a heavy heart that I’m searching for a new home for Cali, my sweet and friendly dog. Cali was born on March 1st, 2022, making her over 2 years old. She is a joy to be around, with a loving and playful personality that makes her the perfect companion for anyone looking for an affectionate and loyal pet. About Cali Cali is incredibly friendly and thrives on human interaction. She loves to play, whether it’s a game of fetch or just running around in the yard. Her warm and gentle temperament makes her a favorite among everyone she meets, and she gets along beautifully with people of all ages. She has an adaptable nature, which is why I believe she’ll transition well to a new loving home. My top priority is finding Cali a home where she will be loved and cared for as a member of the family. I’m looking for someone who can provide her with the attention and affection she deserves.

Story
NEED FOSTER HOME FOR ONE OF THE MIXED PUPPIES FROM KIKKI'S STAR WARS LITTER!! Meet Hera, a loving, energetic companion looking for a foster or forever home. Hera is a charming dog with a heart full of loyalty and affection. She can be shy upon initially meeting someone, but adapts quickly. Once comfortable, her playful spirit and boundless energy shine through. Hera enjoys walks and is currently building confidence on leash. She has been fostered in a multi-animal home and gets along with other dogs very well. She sometimes needs a reminder to give the cats some space. She is potty trained as well as crate trained although she can be anxious when left alone at times. A calm, male companion would be ideal for her. Her foster home is currently working on basic training, including some tricks. She is very smart but can be stubborn. You will need some creativity to keep her engaged while training. Several short sessions as opposed to a long one. If you are looking for a devoted friend who will bring joy and enthusiasm into your life, Hera might be a match. Her lovable personality would ensure her becoming a cherished part of your family!! She is very smart and needs an owner who will engage her brain: obedience, fast cat, agility.  Prefer owners with some previous experience with dogs.  She will be spayed prior to placement.  See more pix and video at https://www.facebook.com/akitarescue.org/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:00 am
