Story
You don't need to be vegetarian to love our gal Tofu!! Tofu is a female adult Akita who was found as a stray and described by her finders as friendly. She is true to her breed where she enjoys exploring and patrolling the outside and seeing other doggos. She's not as much of a cuddler but is a very gentle companion! Tofu is available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org. Behavior: Per volunteer 8/7/24: Tofu is a super sweet girl! She was super good going in and out of her kennel and walked so good on leash. In the run she saw another dog walking by and that was the first time I really saw her personality come out! She got super excited to see the other dog walk by! In the run she mostly just sniffed around. She did come to me a few times for some pets but seemed to be enjoying just walking around and sniffing. Per Staff 8/7/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Tofu was good in kennel and easy to leash. She came to the front with soft eyes and wags, but was also lip licking a lot for leashing! She remained loose bodied and wiggly while the handler placed the leash over her head. No issues exiting or returning LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: In the yard Tofu was wiggly and very easy to handle. She was mild mannered and explored the yard. She would then come over to us with mid level wags and soft eyes. She allowed all handling and was very tolerant, but didnt lean in much. She took treats gently when offered and showed knowledge of sit. PLAY: Engaged in play TOYS: Interest but no possession. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Story
Jinx is the absolute best dog in the world. I am so distraught to be rehoming her because she is so special, but I love her so much that I want to do what’s best for her. My job currently has me working crazy hours and she is home alone all day. I am in a long distance relationship and travel on weekends so I leave her with a friend. She is very easy and extremely tolerant of the lifestyle I have, but I can tell she would be so happy with someone who has time to take her more places and spend more time at home with her. She absolutely LOVES people. She’s outgoing and EXTREMELY OBEDIENT. She’s great with children and has never hurt a human. However, she does not like other animals. She is an American Akita, so her hunting instincts kick in. She needs a home with no other animals. She is 6 years young. She loves attention and cuddling, and she also is bark-less. She never barks at people or animals. I want to find her a home with someone who is attentive, loving, and will keep her active.

Story
Jinx was rescued in Texas and has lived with me for 6 years but unfortunately, due to life events, I’ve been displaced by my job and home and can no longer keep her under a roof. Jinx is an incredibly friendly and loving to dog to all people never once has she hurt a person. She’s playful when you want her to be and a couch potato otherwise. One of her best features is her beautiful wolf like appearance that she has and her large size of 100lbs! Everywhere she goes she catches the eyes of so many people. She has many talents and rare character traits not seen commonly in dogs like that she is a barkless dog meaning she won’t make a sound in your home and she’s intelligent so she knows many commands and tricks! She has to find a home before Friday Aug 2nd otherwise she will have to be surrender to a shelter. Please consider Jinx as your new friend and loving pet

Story
Meet Sassy. She has come back to us for a second time because of changes in homes. Her first owner was unable to keep her because they became homeless and the second home had a new baby and unfortunately this caused too much stress for Sassy to handle. Sassy is around 70 pounds and is a mix. No one was able to ever tell us what breeds she really is. Sassy is looking for a low key home where there is not much going on. She needs a family who is willing to put the work in to make sure she feels confident and comfortable around meeting new people. Sassy is looking for a home without small children or other dogs. We know that this is a tough home to find, but we feel that there is a home out there waiting for her. Sassy has been with us since May of 2024.

Hello there, I'm Max, a seasoned Akita with a heart full of love. My days are filled with friendly tail wags and curious sniffs around my humble abode. I've got a mellow demeanor, but don't let that fool you, I'm quite the smarty. I've learned a lot in my years and I'm eager to share my wisdom. I'm the kind of dog who appreciates the simple joys of life. A warm bed, a good meal, and a kind hand to pat my head are all I need to be happy. My golden years are just as golden as my spirit. I'm looking for a forever home where I can share my love and wisdom. Adopt me and let's make beautiful memories together.

Hello, I'm Bruno, a senior Akita with a heart full of love. I'm a friendly chap, always ready to share a goofy joke or a funny antic. My loyalty knows no bounds, and I promise to be your most faithful companion. I'm a bit of an old soul, but that just means I've got plenty of wisdom to share. I love lazy afternoons, belly rubs, and the joy of companionship. I might be a senior, but my spirit is young. I'm full of life, love, and laughter. Adopting me means gaining a friend who will stick by your side through thick and thin, always ready to brighten your day with a wagging tail and a warm nuzzle. So, how about it? Will you give this old dog a new leash on life?

KENNEL ID #01658&#226&#128&#139 Introducing ‘Ghost’ a 3 year old American Akita. We received him from a domestic violence case and his wounds have now healed from the previous abusive owner. Ghost is a super sweet fellow and needs a calm and confident and active owner who is attentive to his needs and instincts. His confidence once shattered is building back up with patient handling. He walks great on a leash and loves being close to you. He enjoys car rides to go for a hike and enjoys walks where he can take in all the sights and smells along the way. Akitas don’t accept the settings of doggie daycares, canine play dates, or dog parks. Ghost fits most of the typical description of the Akita breed. He strongly prefers to be the only dog in the household, will chase small animals &#239&#184&#143, cats ‍&#226&#172&#155, and livestock , and has protection tendencies over what he perceives to be his owners and property . Akitas are fast and inquisitive, and even with advanced training this is not a breed that can be off leash. Ghost is extremely affectionate and loyal and is seeking an owner to give all his loyalty and trust.  SafeHART) (jotform.com) Thank you for your interest in rescue. They came to us incredibly underweight from being starved. They were covered in scars and wounds, they did not get along with each other and would fight, their injuries have been addressed. After everything they have been through, they are beyond sweet to their care takers and are loving all of the extra attention. Story
Charlie is a sweet 7 year old male chihuahua/pit mix who weighs 27 pounds. He came in as a stray but we were able to get in touch with a previous owner who had was no longer able to keep him. They told us "Charlie had been fine around their older kid (tween) but they did not think he would do well with a baby. As they were planning to have more kids, they decided to rehome him." He is doing his best to stay housetrained at the shelter and would love to be in a home soon. On 3/11, a volunteer noted: He was sweet and easy to handle from beginning to end. He loved to be pet, walked nicely on the leash and pottied when taken outside. He was easy to return to her kennel and seems like a lovely pup!

Story
Meet Mishka! A bundle of joy and energy, ready to bring endless fun to her forever home! This happy-go-lucky pup is incredibly friendly and loves to explore the world around her. She's great on a leash and enjoys outings to the park-she'll be your perfect walking or running companion. Mishka has a big appetite for life and a soft spot for chicken nuggets, fries, and cheeseburgers. She also loves staying hydrated, so make sure you have plenty of water on hand! Mishka has a playful side too, and she loves to engage in zoomies. While she's a dream dog in many ways, it's worth noting that she does shed-something to keep in mind for those who prefer a low-shedding pup. But that's a small price to pay for a dog as sweet and affectionate as Mishka. If you're looking for a fun, energetic, and loving dog to brighten your days, Mishka is the one for you. She's got a heart full of love and is just waiting for the right family to call her own. Ready to make Mishka a part of your family? Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Mishka at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her. She gets very excited and a little jumpy when seeing other dogs. This beautiful girl would do well in a home that has an active lifestyle that she can join in on. She's very smart and will be trainable based on how well she listens. She isn't super treat motivated but definitely wants to play and run and bounce. She even shows signs of wanting cuddles which isn't always the case with huskies! She was a little excitable with play so might do better with older children and adults. She does shed like any husky. Very sweet girl who wants some love! 8/11/24 notes from day trip: Mishka was a very fun, energetic and happy dog. She is very friendly and was good on the leash. I had her at two different parks which she was fine. She loves chicken nuggets fries and cheeseburgers and absolutely loves drinking a lot of water. No complaints at all, the only thing I can say that some people aren't a fan of is she sheds, but other then that she was a dream dog. BEHAVIOR EVALUATION (8/9): KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Mishka came right up to the door when she saw me. She had soft eyes and a wagging tail, and was patient for leashing, She came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING: When we got to the room Mishka did a nice shake off and sniffed around, getting her bearings. She came when I called her and sniffed me curiously. She allowed some head and body pets before continuing on her sniffing. I offered her some treats and she started off snatchy, but got gentler as I gave her more. She allowed all handling after some treats, but was a little sensitive around her paws. She would pull them back and try to run away whenever I tried to handle her paws. She never escalated, just tried to get away. She got a burst of playful energy and zoomed around the room, spinning in circles and running from one end to the other. She got a little mouthy, but didn't actually close down on me at all, just mouthed me with an open mouth. PLAY: Engages in paly, did silly zoomies all over the room. Got a little mouthy but was very gentle. TOYS: Interest but no possession. She seemed most interested in a tennis ball, but didn't chase it. - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Story
Hi, I'm Zeus! I'm a six month old Siberian Husky. Already in my short life, I've been rehomed once to a new family, and then surrendered to a shelter when that family no longer wanted me. Since I'm a husky puppy I have boundless energy and want to play all the time, so I'm looking for an active household that can keep up with me! In my last home I lived with children ages 5 to 12. However, my high energy level and tendency to jump on people when I get excited means I'm probably best suited for a home with big kids. Please consider coming to meet me at ACCT Philly today!
