Story
Meet Mishka! A bundle of joy and energy, ready to bring endless fun to her forever home! This happy-go-lucky pup is incredibly friendly and loves to explore the world around her. She's great on a leash and enjoys outings to the park-she'll be your perfect walking or running companion. Mishka has a big appetite for life and a soft spot for chicken nuggets, fries, and cheeseburgers. She also loves staying hydrated, so make sure you have plenty of water on hand! Mishka has a playful side too, and she loves to engage in zoomies. While she's a dream dog in many ways, it's worth noting that she does shed-something to keep in mind for those who prefer a low-shedding pup. But that's a small price to pay for a dog as sweet and affectionate as Mishka. If you're looking for a fun, energetic, and loving dog to brighten your days, Mishka is the one for you. She's got a heart full of love and is just waiting for the right family to call her own. Ready to make Mishka a part of your family? Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Mishka at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her. Videos: Mishka in slow mo: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7ic485KC3b0?feature=share Diamond and Mishka 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q1nmT9dRos Diamond and Mishka 2 drop leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hEzdnQyB1Y Diamond and Mishka 3 drop leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1nSguQi8jE Behavior: Per Volunteer 8/17/24: Mishka is so playful and friendly. She gets very excited and a little jumpy when seeing other dogs. This beautiful girl would do well in a home that has an active lifestyle that she can join in on. She's very smart and will be trainable based on how well she listens. She isn't super treat motivated but definitely wants to play and run and bounce. She even shows signs of wanting cuddles which isn't always the case with huskies! She was a little excitable with play so might do better with older children and adults. She does shed like any husky. Very sweet girl who wants some love! 8/11/24 notes from day trip: Mishka was a very fun, energetic and happy dog. She is very friendly and was good on the leash. I had her at two different parks which she was fine. She loves chicken nuggets fries and cheeseburgers and absolutely loves drinking a lot of water. No complaints at all, the only thing I can say that some people aren't a fan of is she sheds, but other then that she was a dream dog. BEHAVIOR EVALUATION (8/9): KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Mishka came right up to the door when she saw me. She had soft eyes and a wagging tail, and was patient for leashing, She came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING: When we got to the room Mishka did a nice shake off and sniffed around, getting her bearings. She came when I called her and sniffed me curiously. She allowed some head and body pets before continuing on her sniffing. I offered her some treats and she started off snatchy, but got gentler as I gave her more. She allowed all handling after some treats, but was a little sensitive around her paws. She would pull them back and try to run away whenever I tried to handle her paws. She never escalated, just tried to get away. She got a burst of playful energy and zoomed around the room, spinning in circles and running from one end to the other. She got a little mouthy, but didn't actually close down on me at all, just mouthed me with an open mouth. PLAY: Engages in paly, did silly zoomies all over the room. Got a little mouthy but was very gentle. TOYS: Interest but no possession. She seemed most interested in a tennis ball, but didn't chase it. - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Story
Hi, I'm Zeus! I'm a six month old Siberian Husky. Already in my short life, I've been rehomed once to a new family, and then surrendered to a shelter when that family no longer wanted me. Since I'm a husky puppy I have boundless energy and want to play all the time, so I'm looking for an active household that can keep up with me! In my last home I lived with children ages 5 to 12. However, my high energy level and tendency to jump on people when I get excited means I'm probably best suited for a home with big kids. Please consider coming to meet me at ACCT Philly today! Story
Spirit was found running loose in Pennsylvania and taken to a shelter. Obviously a new mother, the puppies were finally located, and the entire little family was surrendered to a shelter. Spirit is an energetic girl who is about two years old. She loves attention and to get pet. She is a quick-learner, especially when treats are involved! Spirit is crate trained, house trained and rides well in the car. She needs to be crated when home alone. Spirit can pull on leash, but does better on an Easy-Walk Harness. Her forever home will need to continue her leash training. Spirit does well with other male dogs, but not females. No cats or small animals for Spirit. She will be getting spayed soon. Spirit is looking forward to finding her forever home with lots of love and attention. If you’re an active family with lots of time to devote to this good girl, you and Spirit may be a match for each other! Apply to adopt Spirit today! Story
Goose is a friendly 1 and a half year old who will happily hop in your lap as soon as you sit down. He likes to meet new people and treats everyone like they’re his best buddy! Goose is a climber and a jumper. He will need at least a 5 ft. fence. He also loves to sit on chairs and play with boxes. Playing in water is also a major attraction for Goose, he loves the kiddy pool! Goose is crate trained and good in the car. Goose is house trained and will let you know he has to go out by pacing and crying. Currently, Goose needs to go out to potty every five to 6 hours. Due to his exuberant nature, Gooses would do best in a home with children thirteen or older. Goose is in a foster home with adult dogs and responds well to correction from his senior mentors. He also enjoys playing with dogs his age. Goose is an extremely high energy guy and will need a canine playmate in his new home. Goose plays rough and will need a companion who can match his energy. A combination of walks and play in a fenced yard will help Goose use up his bounty of energy. Goose will not do well on a tie out. Goose is very food motivate and can learn new tricks and routines when treats are involved. Goose weighs 53 lbs. Goose enjoys playing with toys, Kongs, Bene Bones, Nylabones and tennis balls. Unlike most Huskies, Goose is happy to play fetch. Goose cannot be placed with cats or other small animals. Goose is a sweet boy with a bounty of love to give! If you’re an active family with lots of time and energy to devote to a young dog, you and Goose may be a match for each other! Per Staff 8/7/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Tofu was good in kennel and easy to leash. She came to the front with soft eyes and wags, but was also lip licking a lot for leashing! She remained loose bodied and wiggly while the handler placed the leash over her head.
