Story
Rosie is simply irresistible! Rosie is estimated to be 2 years old and is the sweetest girl around! She is the epitome of a house hippo and her perfect day would be spent cozy at home with her favorite people. She loves everyone she meets and is quick to make herself comfy in your lap (even though she is a little too big to be a lap dog). She is a total lovebug who does the cutest wiggles when she gets excited. She weighs about 50lbs, but is underweight and needs to gain a little weight. Rosie came to us after she was found as a stray and brought to the UC Davis Vet Med ER. She was found with a wound in her neck from an embedded collar. Despite her pain, she was the sweetest girl with all the staff and they knew she deserved a second chance. We were so happy to be able to find a foster home to take her in and she has been blossoming while in foster care. Her neck is all nice and healed and she is ready for her fresh start! Rosie is an affectionate girl who loves to cuddle and give kisses. She knows no strangers and becomes instant BFFs with everyone she meets. She is a moderate-energy girl who spends most of her day chilling, but she enjoys her long walks around the neighborhood and gentle play. She enjoys wearing cozy pajamas and will never turn down an opportunity to join you for cuddles in bed. She already knows her basic manners and is a well-mannered girl around the house. She would thrive with a family who wants to make her a true member of the family. Rosie has done well meeting and playing with other dogs but can be protective of her toys and food towards other dogs. With management and training, she might be okay living with one other dog, but we think she would probably do best as an only dog. We haven't seen her around cats. Due to her gentle nature, Rosie could make a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years and older. Rosie is doing well with her housetraining but still has occasional accidents. Her new family will need to be constant with her training and be patient with her while she is learning. Rosie is crate trained and is used to hanging out in her crate overnight and when her foster parents aren't home.  Rosie is such a special girl and she has so much love to give. If she sounds like the girl for you, submit an adoption application today!   Rosie's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
Gloria – A212878Female, Gray American Bulldog Pit MixLocation: Yolo County Animal ServicesAge: UnknownWeight: 50.00 pounds About Gloria:Gloria is a stunning and gentle girl with beautiful gray fur and a friendly personality. She has been at Yolo County Animal Services since December 16, 2024. Though adopted briefly, Gloria is “too interested” in the cats.  So unfortunately she had to be returned.  She’s great with new people and did well with kids. Gloria loves to play and walks well on a harness, making her a joy to take on outings. Her first adoptive family included a bed and several goodies, showing just how loved she was. Gloria can be a bit pushy when meeting other dogs because of her playful nature – some dogs find her enthusiasm overwhelming. However, her friendly and approachable demeanor makes her likely compatible with the right furry friends. Gloria also appears to be potty trained, with no accidents in her kennel – she went potty quickly outside and even pooped shortly after. Although she looks small, Gloria weighs a solid 50 pounds, giving her the perfect medium-sized build. Gorgeous Gloria is eager to find her forever home, where she can share her love and affection with a family ready to welcome her with open arms. Story
We fostered Flower out of the Stockton Animal Shleter where she was on the euthanasia list. Her backstory is that she was backyard breeder where she spent her whole life making puppies from a cage. We ended up adopting her to prevent her from going back to that life. Now, she is so happy and fun! She has been fully enjoying her new lease on life. She really does have a wonderful personality and we love her very much, but unfortunately she doesn't along with other resident female dog. . While she would love a home where she is the main gal, she has been very comfortable with male dogs and kids (female dogs, small dogs and cats need to be avoided). She gives the best cuddles, butt wiggles and does fantastic in the car!

Story
Schatzie loves to be held and is very affectionate. She will walk up to you and rest her head on your hand or lap. She is slowly learning how to play catch after watching our resident dog and loves holding a toy in her mouth at all times. Squeaker toys are her jam and there are never too many tennis balls in her opinion. Often times you will find her rolling in the grass and springing back up to all four and ready for the next adventure. She rides well in cars, walks well on a leash and is potty trained. Everyone who meets her says she is an absolute sweetheart. The instant we met, our hearts melted, and could not agree any more.

Story
Zeus is very smart and playful, he loves toys and learns routines quickly. Zeus loves to play chase and tug anytime. He is learning his manners well, but he still barks and gets excited easily so he may do best somewhere he has a little space to play on his own. He is very friendly with other people, he wants to play and will go get his toys and attempt to engage you in tug of war. He likes to chase balls but is still learning “drop”. If you have a couple toys to alternate with, he will fetch. He loves belly rubs. Zeus loves his treats but is pretty mellow about mealtimes. He will take food from your hand gently. We give him food 3 times a day and he often eats it slowly throughout the day, he doesn’t gobble food or overeat. When we need to give him pills he will eat a spoon of peanut butter with meds with no problem. Zeus crates well; he will go in there easily if you point inside and often takes naps in there on his own. His foster parents are home a lot so he is a little spoiled with attention, but he is used to being in his crate alone for a few hours at a time. He is both affectionate and sometimes self-sufficient. He likes to be with you or cuddle, and he also seems comfortable napping in the ‘other’ room. We have not tested Zeus with cats but he has a strong chase/hunt instinct and always goes after birds or squirrels. Zeus is sweet but he does get excited and can jump or be a rough player. He is learning not to jump up so much, but he does seem to like standing up on his hind legs. He is also pretty vocal when he is playing

Story
Alka is a very sweet girl who needs a family that will help her feel safe in the world. Alka will do best in a home that is calm & on the quiet side so older, quieter kids in the home would be ok. Once you have earned her trust she is a typical Boxer goofball who does zoomies, loves cuddles, lap time, hand & face licks, hugs and will be by your side as you go about your day. She gets along well with her foster brother now after a bit of an extended introduction. She is curious about cats and will likely learn that chasing them when they move quickly isn’t going to be accepted. Alka needs a calm, patient home that can slowly help her feel more secure about meeting new people and learning about things she has apparently not experienced before. She walks nicely on a leash but is fearful of people in general so we are taking new experiences slowly and making sure they are positive. Alka is a smart, intuitive girl, has not had a single accident in the house and learned to use the dog door in about ten minutes. Alka is quiet and calm in her crate when needed during the day and all night.
