Story
My name is Alfred Wrinkleface McWoofins. I was an owner surrender who joined the Hospice program due to a grade 3 heart murmur and other concerns. I had a much needed heart surgery and am "graduating" the Hospice program to become adoptable. Please read my fospice mom's info about my needs. From his foster: Alfred Wrinkleface McWoofkins (or “Alfie” to his friends) is an 11 month old bully breed who is looking for his happily ever after! Alfie loves everything in life- people, dogs, toys, and snacks! While he has spurts of energy, he much prefers spending time inside somewhere comfy, especially if that means getting to spend time with his favorite people. His favorite toys include nylabones, a flirt pole, and anything he can chew on. He has grown up around dogs of all sizes and loves to play with everyone. Alfie was born with a few medical conditions that have been assessed. His most serious birth defect impacted his heart, causing pulmonic stenosis and aortic stenosis, where the valves leaving his heart are too narrow. He had heart surgery in November 2024 to address this, and while his heart isn’t “normal,” it is stable! This may mildly impact his lifespan, but he’s still expected to live a long and happy life. His heart may continue to experience changes over time, so routine heart exams with a cardiologist will be necessary. Alfie will need daily heart medication for the rest of his life (roughly $25/month), as well as a yearly exam and echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) with a cardiologist (roughly $750 per annual visit), in addition to a normal dog’s routine health care. Like many bully breeds, Alfie does have sensitive skin in the warmer months, but this was managed well last year. He is also brachycephalic (short nose), so he snorts and pants like a typical bully breed. Because of this, Alfie would prefer cooler environments to spending time in heat! He was also born with an umbilical hernia which has been surgically repaired. Because of his short stature, he does have some abnormal positioning of his back paw, which can cause irritation to the bottom of his paw. This can be managed with booties and reducing walking on hard surfaces. Despite his medical challenges, he doesn’t know he’s any different from other dogs. Alfie is the happiest, most loving dog you’ll ever meet!

Story
Hello my name is Princess, I’m from Minnesota! From her foster: Princess is the sweetest old lady you’ll ever meet. Affectionately described as a low-riding, snorty, house hippo, this lovable senior girl is as charming as they come! Princess is a tail-wagging pro—her joy and affection are contagious. She’s a champion cuddler and will happily snuggle up for movie nights or lazy afternoons. At night, she’s a perfect angel, sleeping soundly in her crate. Princess is house-trained, though her “old lady bladder” means she appreciates a few extra potty breaks throughout the day. She’s a low-maintenance companion who simply wants to love and be loved. From the Vet: Princess came into rescue and needed to be evaluated for several medical concerns, but since then a plan has been determined for her long term care. Princess has had 1 surgery performed with TBB to address a few of her issues. As a short nosed bully breed she had a very difficult time breathing normally, so a soft palette resection was performed to improve her ability to breathe. She was also spayed and had a mass removed from her chest. The mass was found to be benign so no follow up is indicated for this. Routine monitoring of any other masses that may appear with a primary care vet would be recommended for her future adopters. Princess's eyes were also a concern for her, however she was stared on a eye ointment medication that has helped improve her dry eye symptoms and surgical intervention for her eyes is no longer recommended. An eye recheck in August 2025 would be recommended to her future adopters as part of her routine care post adoption. TBB will agree to cover her needed dental procedure (scheduling pending) along with 1 round of medications and 1 recheck as deemed necessary by TBB's medical team.

Story
Hi! My name is Hank and I am from Alabama. Hank is a perfect gentleman once he feels safe and comfortable. He knows his commands — sit, stay, lie down, and come. He is fully house and potty trained. Hank is great with all dogs and LOVES kids and all humans he meets. Physical touch is his love language! He does have some anxiety in new places, but comes out of his shell quickly with love and lots of snuggles. From the Vet: When Hank came to TBB his medical records indicated he had previously tested positive for Ehrlichia and was subsequently treated. His adopters will receive medical records upon adoption indicating his treatment. Future testing at a primary care vet may still show a positive, but as long as Hank is not showing any symptoms, no follow up should be needed for this condition. We always recommend adopters keep their adopted pups on year round flea and tick prevention to provide the most protection against these tick borne diseases.

Story
Hello, my name is Frodo or Fitzgerald! I’m a one year old happy energetic pup that’s listed as a Great Dane Mix. I’m overall pretty friendly with all. I am kennel trained and a great eater, which means I’m also fun to teach new tricks to! I would be best suited to go to a new home that has a schedule and lifestyle that I can be a huge part of. Since I’m young and full of energy I would do best in a fenced in yard or have the ability to have new activities I can be a part of like hiking or day trips to explore new places. I need solid leadership as sometimes I need to be a little recentered or refocused when I get over stimulated. Because of this, I would be best in a place without young children as I’m still a little uncoordinated from time to time and little kid energy is a bit confusing for me. Kids who are a little older and are interested in helping train me are definitely an exception. Basically from the get go I’m going to just need consistency throughout everyone in the household to help me learn the rules so I can settle in successfully. My current foster mom does in-home boarding at our house so I spend my days meeting new dogs and some new people, so I am pretty well socialized and very much thrive with all the constant stimulation. I do best meeting others outside my kennel in an open space, I tend to be submissive and take appropriate correction from dogs older than me, very well as I’m constantly learning ways to play with all different sizes and breeds. I can't wait to find my forever family!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 23, 2024, 2:21 pm

Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Welcome Buddy to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 2-year old American Bulldog and Australian Cattle dog is our best guess on the mix. He has a lower coat and does shed. He is a bit of a puller on leash when he first gets out of his kennel. He is intelligent, affectionate and ready to learn. It doesn’t appear he would be hard to train but may have not had a lot of training in his first home. He would be great for a runner, jogger or hiker. He is sturdy and could keep pace and would love to join his human. He is in my opinion a perfect man dog. He loves men naturally and leans in to show his affection. He hasn’t been reactive on leash when walking around other dogs. He is social and not afraid of new people. He is exuberant so we think he would be best around children that are 8 or older. He would do great with an active family that wants an active companion. He does slow down and likes to chill out as well. He is not perpetual motion. He is getting neutered soon and is already getting his vaccinations and will be chipped. He is hw negative and ready for his forever home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. . Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions.
