Otis has embarked on a board & train program following minor bite incidents so that we could learn more about how we can help Otis succeed and become a well-balanced and confident dog. From Otis' trainer:After working with Otis in our board and train program we have discovered he is not an aggressive dog. Otis is nervous, sensitive and fearful. Mainly to new people and loud noises. He needs an owner who will continue his training. He has learnt place, leash walking, crate training, sit, recall, release command, waiting at thresholds and waiting for food. She is reserved in the kennel, walks well on the leash, readily allows pets all over and has been friendly with everyone shes met. She is a bit shy at first and will take new situations slowly and cautiously until she sees that youre her friend. Once she gets comfortable Golden really comes alive and wants nothing more than to be in your lap.Golden is crate-trained, house-broken, and has done wonderfully with children - she instinctively knows how to be gentle when needed. She is curious and observant, always analyzing her surroundings. Initially she is shy, but with reassurance she quickly warms up and is ready to explore and play. Golden has interacted well off leash in the yard with other dogs, and just like with new people, goes slow at first until she gets comfortable. Once she is comfortable she loves playing chase in the yard. Golden was adopted a few months ago but brought back to the shelter for not co-existing well with the cats in the home. She has shown no signs of separation anxiety, and would happily sleep or chew on her bone when her owner had to go to work. She perks up with excitement when her people return home, and will happily follow you around. Golden can be easily startled by loud noises or a lot of commotion, so a home without too much hustle and bustle would be best for her.
