Story
Piper is a 3 year old “XXL” Pitbull from what I was told by her breeder, she is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She does amazing with other dogs and cats. She does wellish with kids but likes her space and can act weird towards children if they start to mess with her. She has trouble with resource guarding at times, she does not resource guard her dog food, only human food when it is around. She is easy to redirect but needs to be supervised around kids or other dogs if human food is present. I am looking to rehome Piper because I am a single mom raising my daughter by myself and I am uncomfortable with the thought that she could possibly hurt my daughter. For her possible new home I am hoping it is someone who does not have kids and is able to give her all the cuddles and calmness that she thrives in. She really is the most perfect pitbull so if someone decides they want her, you will be extremely lucky.

Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! From the foster: Paul is a happy and goofy guy who’s bound to brighten up your life. He’s very smart and treat motivated so he is thriving with training. He knows sit, can go up and down stairs, and likes being in his crate (sleeps overnight in it and throughout part of the day). He’s learning down, stay, and come really quickly and enjoys squeaky and puzzle toys. Paul LOVES other dogs, all people and does well with our older cat, considering his puppy curiosity. While he can be active, he also loves to nap and cuddle in your lap. Since he’s so smart, he’s very close to potty trained. He isn’t really interested in wires or other things he shouldn’t be chewing (except his food bowl which we take away after he’s done) so if we can keep an eye on him, he generally gets run of the house. He’s easy to redirect with toys, obedience training, or attention so there are lots of learning opportunities! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
1223379 - Asha is a sweet and friendly 1-ish yr old, 42lbs Pit mix. Very smart, curious and eager to snuggle. She plays well with her foster sisters but has a relatively high prey drive and might not do well with cats. She is crate trained for when you are away, as she still has a curious puppy mouth. She is potty trained, goes pee/poop on command when she has access to the outside, but she is still learning leash etiquette. Asha would do well in a home with another dog similar to her size and age, or with an owner that can provide her with lots of exercise and activity, 2-3+ hours daily.Things to know! --Asha is very smart and curious and would benefit greatly from invested training!-Based on her behavior of pulling away, shrinking, trying to hide any time there is a loud noise, she bumps into something, I lift my hands up etc; its very clear that she received some abuse and neglect prior to her arriving at the Roswell Shelter. Initially she had some shelter shock but once she got over that and her personality started to come out I witnessed little regressions that made it clear it was more than just being at the shelter. In addition to this she had a little bit of food possessiveness that probably came from being under fed/neglected. She has since put on weight and is learning that everyone gets fed what they need. I can now put my hands in her bowl, touch and kiss her while eating, take it away with absolutely no incident. I have yet to feed her tandem with my dogs though, mealtime separation is probably best till a routine is figured out and she feels safe in her new home. She does well sharing treats and toys.-Due to her prior abuse it is best if her training doesn’t consist of any harsh negative reinforcement or loud commands. This tends to cause her to recoil and ignore you. She responds REALLY WELL to calm, focused and intuitive directions. She also loves treats and is easily motivated by them :)-I would not recommend her as a “first dog” for someone and she’d probably do better without small children she could run over.-She has a very sweet demeanor but she is still a young bully mix and will use her weight and strength when she isn’t interested in doing what you say. Still testing/learning boundaries.-She will probably fill out to 47-50lbs when full grown If Asha seems like the right fit for you please complete an application at www.sloppykisses.org/adoptions! ##1916430##

Story
Sheba loves a lot of things, not least of all people and kids.  She is very athletic and is always up for walkies, games, and any sort of play.  Sheba is also usually ready for food & snacks, there are unverified reports of counter surfing, but she lawyered up and the mystery has been left unsolved.  When she takes a break from being active, Sheba loves snuggles, belly rubs, and easy toys like a food puzzle.   Sheba will require slow introductions with other animals. She loves attending her training classes and the rescue will provide 3 free training sessions to ensure a successful transition into her new family. She will thrive in an environment that will give her strong boundaries and expectations.  She enjoys pleasing her humans and can do well when she has goals.  Sheba could probably do well as an agility dog and/or a therapy dog. Sheba has had two instances of heartworm and was successfully treated.  She will need to be on meds the rest of her life and we can talk with interested adopters more about this.   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website - https://demisanimalrescue.com/demis-adoption-application/  All dogs are spayed/neutered, mircochipped, heartworm tested (if over 6 months old) and up to date on vaccinations (combo shot, bordetella, rabies(if age appropriate)  ##2211597##
