Story
Tank came to us 8 years ago and he is 11 years old. He had been tied up outside for four years. When the owner decided he didn't want Tank any longer, he stopped feeding him so that he would starve to death.  When Tank came to us, he was 30 pounds underweight, malnourished, and severely heartworm positive. He was such a sweet, loving boy. It didn't seem possible that he could have been treated so poorly and still have faith in humans. But he does! We treated him for heartworms and then found out that he had mast cell cancer. After two surgeries, Tank remains cancer free.  Tank needs a foster or furever home! He is a 6 year old, American Bulldog mix. He is a 75 lap dog! He loves people. Tank is very happy just to spend time with his person(s). He loves to ride in the car. His issue is that he is dog aggressive. He can't be around other animals.  Tank is looking for a home that has a fenced yard. He would need to be the only animal. Tank is very strong, so it would be necessary for his new parents to be available to work with him on a leash. We are very willing to provide training for him.  Tank has stolen all of our hearts. He needs us now. Please, let's not let him down. If you know someone who maybe a good human for Tank, please pass this information along.    ##133156##

Story
This Blueberry Muffin is baked to perfection and ready to find a home all her own! Blue is roughly 13 weeks old and a whopping 14 pounds - she likes to refer to herself as tiny but mighty - and is ready to rough house with the best of ‘em! She is equal parts sassy and sweet (not to be confused with a sour patch kid ). What she lacks in size, she more than makes up for in extra skin and back rolls, and almost always looks like she has a smile on her little face Blue impresses her foster family on the daily with how smart she is, the little muffin has already mastered sit , and makes them laugh 24/7. We can’t wait to watch her grow and master all the puppy things, and we just know that she will make the perfect addition to anyones forever brunch menu! Her sister Cheese Danish is also available, she’s the dark brindle beauty in the last photo, and promises that she’s made with vegan cheese so she won’t bother all the lactose intolerant peeps out there! Adopt some happiness, friends. Adopt a brunch baby! Sass included. February 25, 2025, 12:58 pm

Story
Recently we made a plea for foster help, as many of our partner shelters are at critical capacity. One particular set of dogs stole our hearts, and between the cold weather coming in and the dire medical needs these dogs had we scrambled to get them to us. Please welcome Momma Mimosa and her brunch babies, Blueberry Muffin and Cheese Danish. Five dogs were at the shelter, the adults walking skeletons and the babies so bloated with worms they waddled more than walked. They are just five of many more dogs living in those same horrible conditions waiting to come into the shelter when more space opens up for them. Luckily another rescue was able to pull one adult, we took Momma and babies and a few days later we went back for the last emaciated adult there (more on that soon) because… No Swampie left behind! And in our hearts we knew they were all already Swampies the moment we saw a picture pleading for help for them. Mimosa is a little timid, but truly as sweet as can be, and each day filled with cuddles and baby talk leaves her more and more wiggley and happy. She eats like she doesn’t know when her next meal is coming, and we have promised her she won’t ever have to worry about that life again. Bluey and Dani are learning all things puppy! The worm bellies are slowly shrinking, Bluey is getting treated for a UTI and the poor girl also has an eye injury that we are monitoring. There is a chance she may never have full vision in her one eye again, but we are hopeful at its progress as she grows. The sassy puppy romps are coming out more and more as the girls feel better too. Stay tuned for updates as we get to know the Brunch Babes and be a part of their healing journey. Swipe to see the shelter pictures that broke our hearts. Only better days ahead for the brunch babes! If you are interested in becoming a foster please head to our website to apply! Message us for questions and we are happy to tell you all about what fostering a Swampie means. While these babies are safe there are many more that still need our help! Apply today! Story
What better day to introduce our last brunch babe, or last brunch dude rather, than Sunday?! Everyone, meet French Toast Toast came from the same property as Momma Mimosa and her babies, all seized as a part of an ongoing cruelty case. Adult dogs were leaving this property absolutely emaciated, Toast only weighed 30 pounds and was utterly skin and bone. We didn’t have the space to take him when we took the girls, but we knew there was no way in hell we were leaving him behind at the shelter with his 30 days so close to coming to an end. Over the past few weeks we’ve been working to put the Swampie 15 on him (the side by side photos were taken exactly two weeks apart ), while simultaneously trying to earn his trust. Toast doesn’t have a mean bone in his body but will actively flinch if you try to pet or touch him in any way Whether he’s flinching because he’s never known affection, or because he’s only ever known the hard side of a hand, it breaks our hearts all the same. We hope that someday soon he’ll lean into our hands instead of away from them Toast has a long road ahead - he is high heartworm positive, has an equally high intestinal worm load, needs to be neutered, and obviously needs to maintain a healthy weight once we get him there. He is currently in boarding where he’s coming out of his shell more and more, but he really needs a foster home to have a safe space to trust, grow, and heal. Toast is a shell of the dog he is meant to be, and we desperately want him to know the love and comfort he’s been missing out on! We don’t know much about what Toast and the other dogs from this “home” endured, but we do know that they will never, EVER know neglect again. Welcome to the Swamp, Toastie. The happiest days of your life are on the way! February 10, 2025, 3:34 pm

Story
Meet Zeus! I adopted him from the North Florida Humane Society in Gainesville 2.5 years ago. He turns 3 years old in March! Zeus is a very loyal and affectionate dog to those he trusts, he is also very protective. He has been through obedience training and began training around other dogs but I was unable to complete that training with him since I moved. He is medicated for anxiety (trazadone and gabapentin) which I give him with his breakfast every day. It breaks my heart but I am unable to keep Zeus due to my living situation. He does not do well in apartments, he needs a loving home with a fenced in backyard! He currently lives with a dog now that he gets along with but he has attacked a dog before so he would be better as the only dog in the house. He doesn’t seem to like cats and I have not yet seen him around children. Zeus needs someone who is patient and willing to work with him as well as experienced with dealing with this type of behavior.

Story
Clarabelle can be “Goofy” when it’s playtime but really she’s a young sweet gentle soul. Clarabelle is ALWAYS smiling! When she sees another dog or human her wiggle butt starts going so her entire body wiggles. Her friendly nature is welcoming to dogs and humans, and if they let her she will kiss you hello but usually on her back for other dogs, to show she’s very submissive. There's only one time you won’t see her smiling and that’s because she’s buried her face under the covers to sleep and possibly to cover up her snoring(what a lady). Clarabelle simply is the happiest, most loving, gentle pup that just loves being with her humans; whether it’s active time playing with toys, going for walks or taking a dip in the pool or time to chill aka snuggling on the couch watching tv(Bluey is her favorite). She’s a great balance of active but chill. If you are looking for the easiest dog to take care of and to love, Clarabelle might be your match❤️ If you are interested in learning more about this dog, please complete an application by visiting http://www.floridaurgentrescue.com/adopt. Story
Eve was found in a rough neighborhood in Jacksonville, FL in a field. She was in a broken crate without a tray, covered with a tarp and cinder blocks. She had zero protection from the elements and was only bring fed sometimes with zero regular access to water. At that time temps were going down to 32°, so she was really suffering. We didn't hesitate to talk to the neighborhood guys "caring" for her and offered her safety in our Rescues care. They agreed and she's been with us since. She's very sweet, crate trained, leash trained and has done well with older kids and other dogs at adoption events in her own crate. She loves car rides and sticking her head out the window. She does amazingly at our adoption events with all kinds of people. Sizes and ages. She's so sweet and gentle! She really deserves to be spoiled for the of her life.
