Story
Tank came to us 8 years ago and he is 11 years old. He had been tied up outside for four years. When the owner decided he didn't want Tank any longer, he stopped feeding him so that he would starve to death.  When Tank came to us, he was 30 pounds underweight, malnourished, and severely heartworm positive. He was such a sweet, loving boy. It didn't seem possible that he could have been treated so poorly and still have faith in humans. But he does! We treated him for heartworms and then found out that he had mast cell cancer. After two surgeries, Tank remains cancer free.  Tank needs a foster or furever home! He is a 6 year old, American Bulldog mix. He is a 75 lap dog! He loves people. Tank is very happy just to spend time with his person(s). He loves to ride in the car. His issue is that he is dog aggressive. He can't be around other animals.  Tank is looking for a home that has a fenced yard. He would need to be the only animal. Tank is very strong, so it would be necessary for his new parents to be available to work with him on a leash. We are very willing to provide training for him.  Tank has stolen all of our hearts. He needs us now. Please, let's not let him down. If you know someone who maybe a good human for Tank, please pass this information along.    ##133156##

Story
When you meet Mimosa, you will understand immediately where the expression, “melts in your arms” comes from. Mims loves to love. She is truly an example of how resilient a dog can be, in spite of their past. Mimosa was seized from a neglect case with other dogs who all looked more like skeletons, and she was being the best mom to two little babies at the same time. Mimosa is now learning all about the good life thanks to her amazing foster family. Even the couch, which was once a spooky object, is now the place she jumps to happily. Mimosa is even taking group training classes thanks to our friend Savannah at @savvydt , which is building her confidence in new spaces, around new dogs, and she is learning all sorts of good behaviors and commands! Mimosa loves every person she meets, is good with kids, is cat safe but is still learning not to chase if the cat is a runner, and is dog selective. Her foster family says she is an angel who loves to help with yard work - especially if dirt is involved, likes to explores new breweries and lunch spots, has the best sploots and full body wags, and just truly aims to make you feel like the most special person in the world. Mimosa’s ideal dog friend would be one who respects boundaries. She prefers slower intros, as we have found she gets uncomfortable and defensive if a dog she does not know invades her space too quickly, though once she trusts her dog friend she trusts fully, and she actively plays with her foster sister currently. She is not reactive, and goes on outtings around other dogs and trains with other dogs without issues. We have seen Mimosa grow so much since we got her, and every day she learns a little more how safe and loved she is, and we can’t imagine how much MORE amazing this lady is going to be even a couple months from now. Mimosa starts heartworm treatment next week, and we are so grateful she is getting to do her healing in a safe space with us. She is still looking for her forever home, so If you think Mimosa may be the girl for you, message us or reach out at 904-392-3416 and check out our story for more cuteness! March 28, 2025, 2:05 pm

Story
French Toast landed himself one heck of a foster home, and we have been learning so much about our sweet Brunch King. The first night in his foster home Toast was petrified, and he took comfort in the small space of the bathroom, and it’s where he curled up for the first 24 hours. Toastie is a totally foodie though, and a calm touch and lots of treats is an easy way to get to his heart. These days Toast now curls up in his favorite futon rather than the cold bathroom floor, or he falls asleep head on the legs of the humans. Toastie has even become quite the work from home help (some would say distraction) and he won’t hestitate to remind you if you haven’t stopped for a snack break in awhile! Toastie loves his cat friends and tries hard to be buds, though he is also so receptive with them that even the wise senior cat in the house doesn’t mind him - and he usually minds the Foster dogs mom brings home. Toast is dog friendly as well and in fact lights up when he sees dogs - we think his confidence would skyrocket with a dog friend. Toast’s foster parents also say he is a smart cookie who picks up on training quickly. Toast is so wonderful in fact he smoozed foster dad into going from “temp foster” to “full time foster.” While Toast has come so far in the time we have had him, he still has a ways to go. Many of our dogs past we can only speculate on, and it’s not often you’ll hear me outrightly say it, but I know a person caused Toast to have all the fears he has and I’m furious about it. Toast still flinches and panics if you come in too quickly to say hi. He has good days and bad days as to what might spook him and send him off to find a safe space for hours, and the spooky electrician that came to the house ruined almost an entire weekend for him. Toast is truly one of the NICEST dogs, he just aims to please, and you can tell he wants so badly to be the happy, cuddley, carefree dog that we see glimmers of each day. We know he will get there, and we will take all the Swampie time he needs. If you think you might be just what the Brunch King needs message us here or reach out at 904-392-3416 and check out our story to see more. March 19, 2025, 5:37 pm
