Story
Meet Yahtzee! A 2yr old sweet and social dog who is always ready to make new friends! This charming guy has an incredibly friendly nature and gets along wonderfully with both people and other dogs. He has been to many public events and always greets everyone with a wagging tail and a smile. Yahtzee is truly a social butterfly who loves spreading joy wherever he goes! Yahtzee has a beautiful white pelt with striking black spots on his nose that make him extra adorable. He also has light pink skin that turns a bright, cheerful pink when he’s excited – a cute feature that’s sure to make you smile every time you see him! When it’s a warm day, you’ll find Yahtzee enjoying a dip in the kiddy pool, cooling off while having the best time. He’s also a playful spirit, especially when it comes to spending time with his best friend, Ace. These two have a blast together, showcasing how Yahtzee thrives in the company of other dogs. Currently in a medical foster home, Yahtzee has been excelling in a home environment. He shares his foster home with another dog and has learned plenty of good manners, including potty training, and he’s currently perfecting commands like “off,” “wait,” and “stay.” Yahtzee has been great for baths and loves to snuggle up to his foster family when they are under the weather in hopes of making them feel better. He’s come a long way, and his foster home has nothing but great things to say about him! A special update from his foster home: “Yahtzee’s pins have been removed, and the surgeon says he’s expected to make a full recovery! His leg is healing nicely.” In addition to being an all-around great companion, Yahtzee has a bit of an environmentalist side – he loves picking up empty water bottles on his walks, promoting recycling along the way! Yahtzee would thrive in a moderately active home, with or without children, where he can enjoy daily walks and explore a yard. He would also make a fantastic addition to a family that already has another dog. If you’re looking for a happy, friendly, and well-behaved pup to add to your family, Yahtzee just might be the one for you! Yahtzee's genetic breakdown: 76.7% American Pit Bull Terrier 23.3% American Bulldog ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Yahtzee, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates on their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

This is jade she is around 10 yrs old I believe. I had her since she was little. She loves to run outside. She loves tearing stuffing out of toys. She thinks she's a lapdog and also loves bones. I've never really had any real issues with her. No health issues . I'd love to keep her but I'm moving and can't have big dogs. I'd love for her to be in loving home. She's never been around cats. Only children a few times never lived with them. Thanks so much

Story
Dobby is a smart, joyful and outgoing young girl. She's about 2 years old and weighs about 75 pounds. She'll make a fantastic companion. She gets along well with other dogs. Video of her can be found on our Facebook page here. Is this dog good with kids? It's crucial that children are taught to respect dogs and understand a dog's body language. Is this dog house trained? Expect to house train a newly adopted dog. Some dogs will pick it up faster than others. Successful house training largely depends on patience and consistent encouragement. Most of the dogs that end up in shelters are mixed breeds that can have 2 to 10 different breeds in their DNA. The breed listed is only the best guess of the shelter volunteers. If interested in meeting any of our cats or dogs, stop in to meet them during our open hours. For location and hours, see our website at https://wacshelter.com To apply to adopt online go to https://wacshelter.com/adopt-a-dog/ ALL ANIMALS LISTED AS ADOPTABLE ARE AVAILABLE TO BE ADOPTED. *ADOPTION FEE: $150 (cash only) includes spay/neuter, distemper vaccine, heartworm test, and rabies vaccine.

Story
Tank was rescued when his previous owner was unable to provide a safe life for him. That was a lucky break for Tank. The shelter had him heartworm tested while he was neutered and discovered he is suffering from heartworm disease due to being denied routine prevention. Tank will now require a several month long treatment once it's determined he is healthy enough to undergo the injections. Thankfully, Pound Pals Downriver has stepped up to help this young dog get his health back. He's an energetic and playful 3 year old pup who seems to do well with other dogs. Be sure to check out our Facebook page at Wyandotte Animal Shelter (https://www.facebook.com/wacshelter/) for day to day updates on our cats and dogs. :) Thank you for your interest in adopting! If you think the animal in this profile might be a good fit for your home and would like to meet them, here's how! !. Go to our website at wacshelter.com. 2. Click on the Apply To Adopt button to submit an online adoption application. NOTE: You will get an email confirmation that we have received your application. If you do not see this email appear upon submission, please check your "spam" folder. 3. Your application will be processed and a volunteer will call or email with any questions. NOTE: If any questions are left unanswered or incomplete, the application cannot be processed. A completely filled out application will take 1-3 days to process! 4. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative unless otherwise indicated. All are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and current on heartworm prevention! Additional questions... Does this dog get along with cats? There is almost always an acclimation period when a new pet joins the household. We are happy to suggest a few ways to ease the transition. If one of our dogs is reported to have lived with cats previously, that will be indicated in the dog's description! Does this dog react well to other dogs? No dog loves every other dog, just as humans do not like every other human they meet. A proper introduction (meet and greet) would be required as part of our application process. Is this dog good with children? The better question is how the children have been taught to handle animals. A dog will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach children to interact with dogs and pay attention to body language. Young children should never be left unsupervised with new dogs. How did this dog end up in a shelter? The top reasons dogs are given up are: Moving without considering the needs of the pets Death of the owner with no plan in place for the pets Previous owner did not provide appropriate training Owner did not consider the lifespan of a dog Owner did not consider the cost of providing for a dog

Story
This is 4 year old Kane. He use to live in a motel with his family when they were evicted. Now, he is not able to do that. Kane is a very sweet boy that gets along with other dogs when properly introduced and is good with kids although he does like to jump. He has not been cat tested ,but just like my dogs and others, he can learn to like cats. Kane knows his basic commands and loves to play. But as you can tell from the pictures, he also loves to chill. He is in a temporary foster right now. Kane would love to find a foster to adopt or just be adopted so he can finally be home. Maybe you'd like to meet him?
