Story
The ears! The face! We are melting at the sight of this gorgeous, sleek, black young adult pit bull mix who is simply the bees knees of velcro dogs. Cady is a young adult gal who weighs about 45 lbs full grown and full gorgeous! She is everything that is wonderful about this breed from her zero personal space rules (lap dog here!) to her love of children, Cady is the kind of fun play that is all pittie from her hopping, bopping and butt wiggling, she is always as fun as she is snuggly. Cady would love a fun home and promises to bring skills like good potty manners and lots of smooches. She would likely do best with a male doggo companion if there is another dog in the home but would be totally fine, confident gal that she is, being an only dog. Cady is the newest IT girl. Don't miss out on this one. *Weekend Host feedback: "She was quiet most of the weekend, unless alerted. Cady LOVES kids and is very gentle with them, just wanting all of the love. She thinks she is a lap dog and loves to snuggle up with you, so may be best suited for a family with kids 5 and up". * "Cady was a wonderful guest! She did great in her crate - happily and freely laying inside on a soft bed with the door open. She was very patient and gentle while taking treats from my 2 year old daughter. She is fully potty trained and did her business right away outside. A sweet and easygoing companion"!

Story
Angelica loves people and definitely enjoys having a human nearby, even when she is playing by herself outside! She enjoys taking walks. She is very perceptive of her surroundings. She may be hesitant at first, but once she recognizes the path she is on leads back to where she started, she trots all the way home! She will completely stop and sit when she sees other dogs walking past. She will greet new humans nicely, though for men she usually gives a few barks before getting closer to politely meet. She gets along well with the resident dog, though Angelica still has big puppy energy so she is sometimes too energetic for the resident dog. Angelica is very good in the crate, quiet and no messes. She is good about letting you know if she needs to do her business or gets hungry. She sleeps quietly in the crate overnight. Out of the crate she still is quite the puppy, she loves destroying stuffies or gently mouthing your hands and clothes. While she is mostly house trained, she still needs frequent outside breaks to avoid accidents. Her foster family has worked to have her go out immediately after crate time or eating and treat her immediately after she does her pottying- she will run right over and sit at your feet after pottying, waiting for her treat! She loves to do zoomies and pounce on and thrash around her toys, and she loves a kong with peanut butter and treats stuffed in it. She has learned 'sit' and is very treat motivated, so this will come in handy for training and tricks! Angelica is a petite love bug and is waiting for that special person to call her family! *Weekend Host Feedback: "Angelica is truly such a beautiful, sweet, and playful pup who we immediately fell in love with. She was great with our other dog, had such a fun play date with one of my good friends puppy’s who was a similar age to her. She was great on walks and car rides and was such a cuddly friend all weekend! She had no issue adjusting to sleeping at night and has been doing “sit” very well, we have been trying to have her sit before meals and she’s doing great with that so far! Thanks again for sharing her with us for the weekend!!" Vol Dog Walker feedback: "The best word to describe Angelica is fancy. From her gorgeous eye markings to her elegant walk, she is a stunner. Angelica was a strong and steady walker. She dodged the puddles to keep her paws dry. She sat beautifully for treats. Angelica’s calm demeanor made it easy to get in sync".  Recent Weekend Host Feedback: "Angelica was an absolute angel during our doggy sleepover! She didn't take any adjusting and was super comfortable with me right away. We took multiple walks around the lake near my house and she wanted to stop and say hi to every person and dog we walked past! As an 11 month old, Angelica she appreciates frequent potty breaks but she would stand close to the door most of the time when she really had to go. She slept quietly in her crate with no accidents. She definitely had some zoomies in the morning and loved to chew and play tug of war with her toys. Angelica is so cuddly and truly such a sweetheart, any family would be lucky to have her!"

He's a hottie...simply put...why else would his name be Smoke?? Talk about a sweet and easy going gentleman...Smoke is the total package. An adult blue pit bull, Smoke likely a member of someone's family and while he has indulged far too much in the noshes of the world, he has the manners of a boy who knows how to act. Smoke weighs 85 lbs now and VERY much needs some regular exercise which he is getting at the farm and a ride on the green bean diet of sorts and before long...he will be a svelte and active young man again. Smoke has been nothing but respectful of other dogs and has been a quiet guy in his crate. This is a perfect snuggly, sweet and people focused pittie who is looking for a soft and cushy place to land to continue on living as a great ambassador for his breed. Smoke spent some time in a foster home recovering from the sniffles. Here’s what they had to say about him: Smoke is the sweetest boy. He was so easy to care for and fit right in with our dogs. He appears to be housebroken and didn’t have any accidents when with us. He went to the door to let us know he wanted to go outside. He will follow you around all day like your shadow and simply loves to be with his people. He slept quietly all night in a dog bed in our bedroom. He walks well on a leash but can’t go too far yet! Any home will be lucky to add this big guy to their family.

Everyone commented on his gorgeous grey coat and soft squishy head! He is strong but well behaved on the leash. He did great interacting with other dogs. He was food motivated and liked to pick up large sticks. He avoided playing in puddles but enjoyed stopping for smells along the way. He is a smart boy with lots of energy.

Story
Bua is a sweet, snuggly young adult seeking an active family that can offer her lots of toys and playtime.  A playful doggie sibling (or two) would be very appreciated as this girl loves all other dogs and loves to run, romp and play with her foster doggie siblings.  She has excellent house manners, mostly quiet even when someone comes to the door, very polite in the kitchen and around food,  and gently takes treats from your hand.  She does love to eat and loves treats, so that should help with training. Bua has spent time in a foster home with 3 other dogs and really loves being part of the “pack”.  She will do best in a home with older children or no children as she has a lot of energy and sometimes doesn’t realize her size and strength. As much as Bua loves other dogs, she will not be a good match for a family with a cat. Bua has excellent crate manners and is accustomed to eating her meals in her crate and sleeping in her crate at night.  She of course prefers a soft dog bed or snuggling on the couch next to her people but is always quiet while in her crate. Bua will need some training with leash walking and her manners while out on walks. She does love to ride in the car and is a good traveler, quietly watching out the window and then curling up for a nap. Bua is a smart girl and eager to please her people. She quickly learned “sit” while in her foster home and has been working on “stay”.  Whoever adopts this girl will be a lucky family!  **Volunteer Dog Walker feedback: "Today I hiked with Bua. She is full of energy and wanted to be at the front of the pack. She enjoyed rolling in the puddles and went up to her knees in the lake. Enjoyed treats and took them very nicely".

Story
(DOB 10/25/2023) KIDDO friendly! DOGGIE friendly! KITTIE friendly! Check, check, check - Molly checks ALL the boxes! She loves doggie day camp and can be found doing one of two things 1) being the hit of the party 2) working the front desk. Regardless if she is playing with a bunch of friends in the yard or greeting new customers, Molly is everyone's favorite! Young Molly is also well behaved on a leash and would love a family that will continue to take her for daily outings! She loves being out and about and meeting new people or other dogs; she just loves everyone. So if you are social butterfly, yourself, then Molly would be a perfect sidekick! She is all about saying "HELLO" to everyone on the street! Molly would thrive in a home with another playful dog, a full toy box, and a fenced in yard to run in. Happy - YES! Loveable - YES. Cute - YES! She loves playing with her toys and any dogs or people. She is young and has a lot of fun-loving, party all time, kind of energy, so she is definitely looking for a person/family that has a spunk and lively lifestyle. When it is time to chill out and relax, Molly is a big teddy bear! She believes "personal space" is HIGHLY overrated and wants to be right next to you whether laying on the couch, driving in the car (she does love car rides, too), or chilling with a furry friend. She is all about the "art of touch" and letting you know she is super content being next to those she loves. When sleeping, you can often find a sweet smile on her face. Molly is also a fan of television. Do you like to bing watch your favorite shows, well Molly is down for that, too! She has the silliest way of watching TV that will be sure to make you laugh! Even though Molly would love a furry friend in her home and fenced yard, neither of those things are required. She loves everyone she meets so as long as she has plenty of play time, walks/jogs, attends doggie daycare, etc., she will be a happy girl!! Molly is being fostered in a home with kids. While she currently lives with kids, she'd do best if the kids in her home were ~ 8 years old or older due to her enthusiastic personality, and she may accidently knock a little one over. Molly also lives with other dogs, cat and even pigs. So a family with dog-savvy cats should be fine. Molly seems to just ignore the resident cat. The "piglets" she watches through their pig pen and would likely play and befriend them, too if she could.!!! Molly will be the sunshine in your day and will greet you each and every time you come home with big smiles, wiggle butt, and lots of love to share! All we can say is MOLLY IS THE BEST!!!! As part of Molly’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Molly, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2100273##

Story
(DOB 08/28/2022) Never has a dog been more perfectly named than Sweetie! This adorable wigglebutt adores people of all shapes, sizes, and ages, and she’s eager to find a loving family to share her sweetness with. While she may be a bit shy at first, she warms up quickly and will just radiate the biggest, happiest smile Sweetie prefers a home without other dogs but she does get along with cats (watch her video w/her kitty sibling playing gently). Sweetie has been a plenty of events with other dogs; she just doesn't want to necissarily want to share her home with one. She’s a low-maintenance companion who thrives on your company and would happily accompany you on trips to Lowe's or the local brewery! She is also learning good leash manners. When you are back home, don’t hesitate to give her some snuggles; she absolutely loves them! At home, Sweetie enjoys lounging with a chew toy or bone. She’s still learning that tennis balls and sticks aren’t food (not very nutritious, after all!), but if she gets a bit stubborn, you can gently take them from her—she’ll give them up without a fuss. She does love a variety of toys and can be a bit of a toy hog; it's kinda cute to see her enjoying all of the toys available to her. She is also food and treat motivated so makes for training and learning that much easier. Sweetie would be fine in a home, apartment, condo or townhome without a fenced yard. She definitely a bit of a coach potato and prefers to be hanging out with you rather than running around in the yard. Sweetie enjoys visiting stores and other places that welcome dogs. She is fantastic companion in the car and happy to tag along wherever you go! Sweetie's foster family has 2 other dogs and 2 cats. With proper introductions and play monitoring, Sweetie is continually growing more comfortable and better behaved with a "big" family; even so, we beleive she would be happiest as an only dog in the home soaking up all the love, patience and attention one wants to share with her. Sweetie tends to be a follower, so if someone gets super excited or too animated during play time, she matches the energy level. In other words, she can misinterpret body and verbal cues from her 4-legged foster siblings - just something she isn't as familar with so she is learning along this new journey. Sweetie has been good with all children she has meet. Sweetie sleeps in her crate and likes her big soft bed in there. She is house trained as well and would love to be with someone who is home a good chunk of time each day. So if you work from home, etc. she'd make a great "co-worker." You'd have the best of both worlds...the privacy of working remotely while having Sweetie, the sweetest, as your work bestie! As part of Sweetie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sweetie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2182687##

Story
(DOB 06/17/2023) Hank is a hunk and happy boy. This guy will give you endless love and affection, complete with hugs and kisses galore. He will keep up with your every step and keep you safe in every situation...including the bathroom. Hank would love a home with some routine and structure and with a family member that is home a good chunck of the time. His day starts like many with a quick bathroom trip, a little breakfast and some snuggle time. He is pretty chill during the day while his foster mom works from home and will hang out in his crate. He is a great companion for an afterrnoon break and a nice little walk. He's demonstrated he can be an excellent co-worker and is very helpful writing emails. After the work day is over he is happy to help you take out any work stressors with a good ole' afternoon stroll. He is also just as great at chores because he "helps" around the house. He'd also be oh-so-happy to be your chef assistant and sneak a morsal or two off the counter while cooking, so keep your eyes out. He goes into his crate nicely at night to sleep. Hank will keep you laughing as he discovers the big wide world. He's very curious about what is going on as long as he feels safe. This is a truly excellent addition to your life and will keep you laughing, living, and loving. Hank is happy playing tug of war, playing with other dogs, playing with toys, and hanging out with his people! There is no need for a fenced yard with Hank since he really would prefer to just be with you. His little "shadow you" personality just doesn't require a fence. So if you live in an apartment, condo or townhome or home without a fence, definitely give Hank a chance! He'd be ok as an only dog or with a cool doggie sibling. Hank is a very enthusiastic player, and he might be a bit much for some older, not as active or low energy dogs or dogs that get too overly excited with high energy play. He is still a little mouthy and nippy so probably no young kids where their little fingers or toes could end up in his little mouth. He is also ok with dog-savvy cats. Hank needs some more leash training and with some yummy treats and practice and patience he sure to do great at this as well. As part of Hank’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Hank, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2100318##

(DOB 10/25/2023) Hope is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting. Our rescue will pay for the treatment & will be adoptable within 1 hour of Wake Forest, NC during the treatment period. Hope is a huge fan of kids (the more, the merrier!). One thing’s for sure, Hope is a total "man's dog" . She loves men and kids! She's super loyal, loving, and ready to be the most fun, tail-wagging addition to your family! This spunky girl is full of energy and loves a good adventure! Hope would absolutely thrive in a home with a big yard where she can run, jump, and play to her heart's content, so we are definitely looking for a home with a fenced yard for Hope. She’d also love another dog buddy to hang out with, especially if they’re introduced properly. With that being said, Hope could be an only dog, she would just need a loving, sweet, active family to keep her playful energy satisfied. If Hope is in an only-dog home, we believe it best that Hope gets to attend doggie day care on a regularly basis or have doggie friends she can walk and play with regularly. If you’re looking for a road trip buddy, look no further! Hope absolutely loves car rides – the minute the door opens, she’s ready to hop in and hit the road. Whether it’s a quick trip to the store or an all-day adventure, she’s always excited to be your co-pilot. With her ears flapping in the wind and her tail wagging with every turn, she’s the ultimate travel companion who’ll keep you company and make every ride a little more fun. Buckle up, because with Hope, every car ride is an adventure! During the day, Hope is a bundle of excitement, especially when it's time to play! Hope is still figuring out all the fun to be had with all her new toys and loves bringing toys to her foster mom. It is the sweetest thing to see! She is now also learning about new games like tug-of-war and fetch. She’s getting better every day! Hope is incredibly smart and a quick learner! With gentle redirection, she’s done really well staying focused and on track. With some consistent training, she’s bound to continue improving and becoming an even more well-behaved and attentive companion. This girl’s got so much potential, and with the right guidance, she’ll only continue to amaze!  She gets a quick potty break every 3-4 hours when her family is home, and she is well-behaved and can hang out in her crate overnight and while her family is at work, with no problem at all. When it’s time for bed, she either sleeps in her crate or shares a cozy room with her fur sibling; Hope especially loves curling up and chilling out with her two foster dogs. Hope is a happy, go-lucky pup who loves to be around her family. Hope is sweet, playful, and adaptable – she’s ready to be your best friend!  She is just looking for her #1 family to find her. As part of Hope’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. With a personality that’s equal parts affectionate and energetic, she’s on the hunt for an active, dedicated family ready to match her vibrant spirit! This playful girl is a fetch fanatic and a self-proclaimed toy expert. Whether it's a game of tug, fetch, or simply snuggling with her favorite plaything, Sugar is in her element. Motivated by food, fun, and all the attention she can get, she’s quick to learn and eager to impress. There's no trick too big or small for her to master with the right encouragement! While she may get a bit excited and pull on her leash, Sugar is happiest when she's zooming around in a fenced yard, playing freely and living her best life without the need for daily walks. So make sure there is a 5ft+ fenced yard in her fur-ever home that Sugar can have full access to for fun times galore! She will definitely skip doggie parks and play dates; just not her gig. If you're looking for a furry friend who thrives in a home where playtime is endless and adventures are always on the horizon, Sugar is your girl! Sugar would do best as the only dog in her home but has shown she can get along with some male dogs. She will resource guard her goodies. Whether it's lounging in her crate (she’s crate-trained!) or being left loose at home, she’s trustworthy and content. Plus, she’s a pro at car rides and would love to accompany you on your next adventure! If you are looking for a one and only and want a dog you can play with, snuggle with and dote on, give Sugar a jingle! If you’re ready for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will become a cherished member of your family, apply to meet Sugar today! This adorable girl is ready to be the center of your world. Sugar was around cats in her previous foster home but does not currently live with any. If there are kids in the home, they should be older just due to Sugar's age and energy level. She is still full of fun excitment and wouldn't want to accidently knock over any little kiddos. Story
(DOB 01/10/2024) Meet Chuck (Charles, if you're feeling fancy, or Chuckles, if you want to keep it casual)! This charming, butt-wiggling, lovable boy is ready to become your new best friend. Chuck may have a big head and a fit frame, but don't let that fool you! He's a total goofball who loves snuggles and belly rubs. His heart is as big as his head, and he’s always excited to share his love with his people. Want a pup that LOVES to be with you, then Chuck is your guy. He LOVES his people and can be described as a bit of a velcro pup. He will "invade" your personal space just so you know how happy he is to be in and around you. You will be the joy in his heart, smile on his face, and the reason his tail constantly wags.  This sweet boy has been an absolute star when it comes to training—he’s responsive, eager to please, and loves a good adventure. He’s a natural in the car and has even rocked trips to the vet (bath time and surgery included). For example, he is fully trained to wait nd eat his food; such a sweet gentleman. He’s good with people, including kids and older folks. He is uber tolerant and kind with his foster family's son. He’s a little shy with strangers at first, but with a little patience, he’ll warm right up and offer his big smile! He wants to meet every canine pal, though his first meet-and-greet with our older dog was a bit… enthusiastic (he's learned to dial it down since his neutering). Chuck's dream is to be friends with every dog he meets, and he’s always hoping for a little play date! While he can get a bit vocal on walks when meeting new people or doggies, it’s all in good fun and just a part of his playful personality. Chuck has not had an opportunity to meet those other furries, the felines. Chuck does have one little quirk—he’s not the biggest fan of being alone. This poor guy may whimper or bark a bit when left by himself, but with love and reassurance, he’s made some good progress. He just needs to know that you're coming back—and trust us, he’ll repay your patience with all the tail wags and cuddles you can handle. Chuck loves his daily walks and does not require a fenced yard as long as his family continues this kind of routine. He still has a lot of energy. Have a fence; that would be an added bonus. He does get easily distracted by all the new smells, and he’s got some serious puppy energy when he spots other doggies! A little poitive reinforcement, treats, and patience will go a long way in helping him focus and keep up his good walking manners. He’s house-trained, a champion crate sleeper (complete with adorable snores). Chuck loves his way-too-small dog bed and looks so silly and cute curlded up and sleeping in it. He’s never chewed anything in the house. Plus, he’s a total pro at sharing—whether it’s food, toys, or treats. He is living his best life, he's ready to make your life better, too!! So, what’s the bottom line? Chuck is a sweet, loving, tail-wagging companion who just wants to be your best buddy. He’s ready to learn, grow, and show you just how amazing life can be with a dog like him by your side. If you're looking for a goofy, loyal, and endlessly loving pup to join your family, Chuck is the one for you. Why not give this big-hearted boy a chance? We promise he’ll make your days brighter and your heart fuller. As part of Chuck’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
