Story
Intake Reason: Surrendered due to not being good with the youngest childWeight: 62#Known with:· Cats: Lived with 6 yr old NM; Will chase and does not respect correction· Dogs: Lived with Malinois mix, lab mix, and chihuahua mix; does well in WCHS calm playgroups· Kids: Lived with kids ages 5, 11, 12, 13, 16 & 17 yr olds. Too mouthy with youngestHi, I'm Blue! I came to WCHS because I was too much for the youngest child in my home who happened to have Autism. I'm really a great boy, but I had a rough start to life. When my most recent owner got me, I had a limp. It turns out that I previously had a broken leg that healed on its own. I may walk a little funky from time to time and I should stay on joint supplements. I also wasn't exposed to a lot of things during the first 6 months of my life, so new things can be initially scary. I love to play, but I'm basically a big puppy still so sometimes I can get a little rough and mouthy. I do listen when told to stop by an adult, but little kids who are my size remind me of dog friends, so I don't quite get the difference. In my last home, there was a cat that I really enjoyed chasing when I got the chance. I don't understand why he didn't enjoy it as much as me which is why I ignored any of his corrections. I've lived with multiple other dogs and I think they're all great. It would be beneficial to have another dog in my home to help show me the ropes, but if I'm your one and only I'm sure to bond with you very quickly.#2

Story
Intake Reason: strayWeight: 83#Known with: ·Cats: unknown ·Dogs: did well with finder's small dogs ·Kids: unknown Salutations, my name is Darwin and I am a dude that enjoys exploring. Apparently, I wandered off for an adventure and misplaced my people. Luckily a very nice person found me and took me off the streets so I would be safe. They actually took care of me for several days while they looked for my humans but to no avail. While they had me, they noted that I did well with their small dogs, walked well on a leash and understand house-training. I am a mature and polite lad, so being gracious comes naturally to me. Eventually they brought me to WCHS where I could look for a new home. I am an affectionate boy but am probably a bit pudgy for your lap; I weigh about 83 pounds. Truth be told, it might be wise for me to lose a couple pounds by getting low impact exercise each day and eating a healthy diet. I am a sociable, tolerant and quiet guy who is calm and gentle. I am also friendly and loving; some of my best buds are humans. One of my favorite past times is snuggle time filled with cuddles and tender scratches. I know the cue for ‘sit' and do enjoy a tasty tidbit or words of praise for a job well done. I like to keep my brain busy so I hope we can play some games like hide ‘n seek or use a foraging mat to put my schnoz to work at mealtime. If you are looking for a well-mannered, mellow and debonair pup who is past all the craziness of a young whippersnapper, I may be the pooch you are searching for. I have a heart of gold and promise to be loyal to you forever; I am sure we can have a delightful life together.#1

Story
Franklin is available to be seen at his foster home. Please call the shelter at 262-677-4388 for that information.·Intake Reason: Transferred from MADACC·Weight: 65 lbs Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Plays rough but does well with dogs in foster home ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: Outgoing / Likes to run in courtyard / gets overstimulated / affectionateYahoo, my name is Franklin and I am a high-octane lad who could use some guidance. I am hoping for an experienced person who is prepared to provide structure, exercise and training to help me be the best pooch ever. I was a stray at MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) before I was transferred to WCHS. The kind folks at the shelter realized that I would do much better in a foster home where I would get a good routine and opportunities to play with lots of different pups to burn some energy every day. I am a tolerant dude and I need my mates to be somewhat tolerant of me because I am a rough player. I hope we can take some classes together so I can learn some manners and polite leash walking. I enjoy taking long walks but do pull a bit on the leash because I want to go, go, go; I also get excited and mischievous and play tug with the leash. I need to practice not jumping on people and settling down when I get hyper; my person will need to help me stay more tranquil before I get over-stimulated. I already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘down' and ‘shake/paw' and I hope to expand my repertoire of human words; I would do well with patient and positive training techniques. I will need plenty of physical and mental exercise every day; brain teaser toys and using a foraging mat at mealtime can help burn some of my abundant energy. I like to chase tennis balls and think fetch might be fun. I am playful and think it would be grand to play games and canine sports with you; I would be interested in any activity that we could share. I am an affectionate lad and adore people; I will happily snuggle up with you on the couch at the end of a day filled with exercise and playtime. Make arrangements to meet me at my foster home and I think you will be impressed with my dynamic brilliance.#2

Story
Hey, Rainy here! I am a pretty, 2-year-old girl that came from a shelter in Upper Peninsula with my brother Scooby in search of a fresh start! We sadly came from a neglectful family and found ourselves homeless. We had been at that shelter for a little while, but unfortunately did not get a whole lot of interest, so it was decided that maybe we should be transferred here to hopefully find a forever home! But we again have found misfortune and neither of us have lucked out on finding a home to call our own yet. We are really trying to not let that get us down, but it is tough. We really do not like shelter life. The dogs overwhelm us, and we find ourselves getting increasingly frustrated the longer we are here, which is really unfortunate because we really are such great dogs! I am smart, treat-motivated, love a good roll in the grass, and would do great in a home with older kids that don't mind a big, strong dog! I have my fair share if energy, but I also would not mind a good cuddle session here and there either! I get along well with my brother, but I have a hard time getting along with any of the dogs here. It definitely could be the environment though, so I may be able to share a home with another dog in the future if it is the right fit. Scooby and I are not a bonded pair, but if you're willing to have twice the fun, we would love to find a forever home in the same place! Think I could be the perfect match for you? I would love to break free from this place for good! Ask to meet me at the shelter! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 61 Age: 2yrs 5mths 1wks
