Story
This poor guy was abandoned by his family. They moved and just put him out on the street to fend for himself. The homeless people in the area began abusing him. A good Samaritan worried for his safety contacted us. He has been vetted and this sweet guy just can't catch a break. He is under 2 years old and is neutered, but is positive for FIV. (equivalent to HIV in humans). He can go on to live many years and lead a normal life with good nutrition and a low stress environment. Due to the virus it is recommended that he be in a home with no other cats, unless they too are infected. He is such a sweet boy. If you have a soft spot in your heart for needy and forgotten felines, please think about giving this gentle guy a loving home.

Story
Pallas is sweet and loving. I adopted her about 3 years ago, but I’m renting and my landlord won’t allow a pet. She’s great with my mom’s two smaller dogs and cat - we lived in the home with them for two years and she loved hanging out with the dogs! She likes to be held and will cuddle up with you on the sofa. She’s vocal and likes to have chats, which makes her great company for a single person. She’s well behaved, litter trained and not a scratcher.

Story
This is Dolce. She's a beautiful brown and white tabby with big, bright green eyes, and an adorable little face. Her story starts off on a sad note: she was abandoned outside of the shelter, left behind in a carrier. There was no note or explanation. We unfortunately have no idea what type of home she came from. She was very scared being in this new environment, never ever letting anyone touch her or get near her. It's been 5 months since that day, and slowly, ever so slowly, she is becoming more comfortable here. We found out that she is food motivated and will accept tasty treats when they're put in front of her. At times, she will accept the treats right from the hand that's offering it to her. It's been difficult trying to get Dolce to open up to us and befriend her, but there have been improvements and hopes are raising for her to find her perfect forever home and her perfect family. We know that Dolce wants to be loved, and as one of the cat caretakers who is writing this, I have seen it myself! When the adoption room was quiet one day, I sat down next to Dolce and began to gently pet her. Her eyes closed as she even leaned into the head pets and neck scratches. She even rolled over to show a bit of her belly! Something else awesome is when I stopped petting her, I put my finger under her paw that was stretched out. Dolce gently closed her toes around my finger and brought it to her cheek so she could rub against it. THAT IS AMAZING! A huge step in the right direction for Dolce. The best home environment for her would be a quiet, calm one without much hustle and bustle or frequent company. A home without children and other cats and a family who are experienced cat-owners. It would probably take time for Dolce to acclimate and warm up to her new family. If they're patient, understanding, and willing to give Dolce the time she needs to open up to them, it will be all the more rewarding when she finally does accept your love. We're hoping to see more improvements in Dolce while she spends her time here at the shelter and we'll give her as much love as we can while she waits for her perfect person to walk through the shelter doors. Come by the Humane Society to meet Dolce!
