Story
This is Redvine's second rodeo at our shelter, through no fault of his own. He has a tremendous amount of love and companionship to give, so we really want to see this fantastic boy find his forever home soon! Part of what makes Redvine so special is his puppylike energy. His wigglebutt can knock down anyone under five feet tall, which makes him a less-than-ideal nanny. But if you have older kids and the family has been looking for a four-legged pal to run, hike, swim, or just snuggle with on the couch? He's perfect. * 57 lbs * 5 years old * Sweet and outgoing * Playful * Smart * Crate trained and housebroken * Versatile (couch potato or workout buddy) * Great with people and other dogs in public * Chews on toys, not your belongings * Easily adapts to new environments * Kids older than 12 * Possibly too rough for small dogs and other pets Meet Redvine any afternoon but Monday at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California.

Story
We just don't get it. Buster Brown has been with us forever and gets passed over time after time. He's been waiting so very long to go home. If you give him just five minutes to warm up to you, Buster is the sweetest, funniest, and most well-behaved dog you'll ever meet. He loves to lie at your feet and hang out near you all day. Adopt him and you will never be lonely! Buster is super cuddly. He bonds strongly with his people and just wants to chill and relax - ideally, you work from home or have a lifestyle that allows him to be with you. He loves to have his head scratched and will follow you around. He knows a couple of commands like “sit.” He doesn’t like loud noises and doesn’t like to be surprised so he’ll do best with a quiet home with no other animals or kids. Buster is moderately active and curious, up for meandering walks but not marathons. He is equally happy crashing on your couch and making silly faces at you. Have you ever seen a dog make biscuits? When he's especially contented, Buster has the endearing habit of seizing a pillow in his mouth and "massaging" it with his paws. Buster's Quick Facts: Age: 6 years old Personality: Loves people Quiet home: Probably best Other pets in home: He should be the only one Kids: No Making goofy faces: Known as "The Master" Needs help: Getting his bowties straight You: Must want to give and receive lots of snuggles You can meet Buster at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California, any afternoon but Monday. Please fill out an application on our website ahead of time. NOTE: An admirer has already paid Buster's adoption fee, so all we need from you is the paperwork!

Story
Through no fault of his own, 9-year-old Bordeaux is back at FAAS for his second long stay. It breaks our hearts to see him grow ever older in a kennel. He would so love to have a real forever home with his own comfortable bed and food bowl. This sweet boy is well-mannered, never pulling on the leash unless he sees a small dog or other wee critter. (SQUIRREL!) A senior who likes his peace and quiet, Bordeaux's ideal home has no small pets or toddlers. An admirer has paid his adoption fee so you don't have to. Bordeaux's foster dad says he's "a great senior dog who appreciates treats and a soft spot to nap!" He also says Bordeaux: "* is a very sweet gentleman and greets people gently. Once he knows you, he gives you plenty of kisses. * Walks gently on leash--though he often decides where HE wants to walk. * Loves to be near his human. * Loves to nap outside in a sunny spot. * Knows sit, shake, spin, down and rollover. He’s a very smart boy. * Can be left alone uncrated in the house with no issues. He’s 100% house trained. No accidents." Bordeaux would make a great work-at-home companion. He believes in power naps and short walks. His once-red-wine-hued coat is now turning a distinguished gray, but Bordeaux has lots of life left to live and love to give. Come start your sweet adventure with Bordeaux by meeting him any afternoon but Monday at FAAS, 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California.

Story
Barney is a fabulous dog who has an incredible amount of love and joy to offer. He's fun to be around and has good house manners. NOTE: An admirer has already paid his Barney's fee. All that's required to adopt him is to fill out an application! * Highly social and affable * Loves other dogs * Adores people * Snuggler and lap sitter * Excited about life * Serious ball hound! * Pulls at start of walks - needs a confident adult handler * Goofy, fun-loving and loves sliding down playground slides! Here's what Barney's foster mom had to say: "My little daughter Evelyn and I had a great overnight stay with Barney. He is a smiley, friendly, energetic, fun, ball-loving dog. He is great on walks, around food, and around people's stuff. He got a little antsy in our small house, or when we just sat on the couch, but by the end of his stay, he relaxed. But the only time he barked was when he was stuck in a room where we weren't. He settles quickly in his kennel. (He knows the word "kennel" and will go get inside it!) Here's a quick run-down of our fun weekend: He really loves to play ball! We played a lot of fetch, and he learned "drop it." (He also loves keep away.) He knows his name and will gladly come to it. He nosed around the house and was very curious about each room. He was looking high and low for balls! He even found a couple of tennis balls we did not know were under the couch! He did not chew anything else in the house. When we walked him, he pulled pretty strongly, especially when he saw a ground squirrel! But once we got about a mile down the beach, he got some loose leash walking. We also got our first tail wag at us: Evelyn came back from the playground and he was glad to see her. He did not bark the entire walk - not at squirrels, birds, people or other dogs. He is a very confident, social dog. The next morning he did three zoomies in the back yard. Even at full speed, he avoids people. He did not knock us down. Thanks again for letting us foster him. We had a GREAT time!" Come visit wonderful Barney at our main shelter at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California, from 12-4 any day but Monday, and make him yours!

Story
FOSTER CARE! Awhoooo! I'm Emilio! I'm a 2 year old, neutered male, 60 pound Chocolate American Staffordshire Terrier / Husky mix and I'm excited to meet you! I'm a very affectionate boy but I can come on a bit strong. It's only because I'm so stoked to see you! I love giving hugs and will try to sit on you. I'm as cuddly and huggable as can be!  My ideal home will be with adults only who are ready to devote lots of time and energy giving me love, training and exercise. My foster family absolutely loves me!  Here's what they have to say:  'Emilio is a joy to have in our home. He is a little shy at first but once past that, he is the sweetest, most loving, cuddly, and playful boy. He is great with our dog Margo, our cat, and all other dogs we meet outside the house.  We leave him loose in the house with Margo and he hasn't chewed or destroyed anything. He doesn't go in the trash or on the counters.  Potty training is almost nailed down. He is really good with sit, stay, down, and shake commands and eats his meals in the crate with the door shut(we are working on crate training). He LOVES walks (especially when he can run) snuggles, sunbathing, play time and chew toys. His recall off leash is good. He has a lot of puppy play energy and would be good in an active home or a home with another dog he can be friends with.' Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. Story
Foster needed! Video: https://youtu.be/wLiHQtcz_sU GT (aka Snuggles) is an easy-going older guy who's calm, mellow, and gentle. He's low energy so short walks are all he needs. His favorite things are car rides and cuddling. He is calm and well-behaved enough to have gone shopping at TJ Maxx and Safeway and to dine outdoors at restaurants. He is house-trained and crate-trained. GT's been through a lot in his life but he remains a happy dog with a sweet, lovable temperament. At one time, he lived with other big dogs in a foster home. But when his foster mom got too ill to care for them, they all had to go into a boarding facility. Poor GT now lives in a kennel. This sweet guy deserves so much more. If you're able to provide long-term foster care until he finds his forever home, food, supplies, and medical expenses will be covered. Here's what one volunteer said about him: "We call him Snuggles after spending a few hours with him. He is beyond amazing. We took a slow walk, went for a long car ride (which seemed to be his favorite) and then took him shopping at TJ Max! He loved it! We fell in love with him. He’s easy to be with and pulled at our heartstrings. He’s such a good boy. Looks like he’s been through a lot. He’d be such a great dog for anyone from what we saw. I’m so happy to do anything to make his life a little bit happier. He seemed super happy today and he deserves the best life. I’m overjoyed to have met Snuggles??"
