Story
Welcome “Lassie” to SSBR 💕 Lassie came into St. Landry Parish Animal Control with a rope type material embedded terribly in her waste. There’s no telling what her past has held but we know it wasn’t good 💔 Upon coming into the shelter, Lassie was provided emergency veterinary care by BISSELL Pet Foundation // Cathy Bissell. Thanks to BPF investing in her life, she was able to make a full recovery and join SSBR this week. She will be finishing Heartworm treatment and looking for her forever home! Here’s what we know so far…. Lassie loves the water! 💦 Lassie loves to play rough and tumble with her canine companions 🐶 and thrives from human love and affection💕! She will make the perfect family member for the perfect adoptive family! Pre-apply online at https://www.southernstatesbullyrescue.org/blank

Story
🩷 XENA 🩷 Follow us down memory lane… Xena came to us a couple months back on the verge of death. She had been mauled by another dog and the owner couldn’t afford vet care so she sat and waited for several days. When she finally made it to us, she was in shock, riddled with infection and in critical condition. We really didn’t know if she would pull through. Thanks to the very dedicated staff at Bellevue Animal Clinic, who have literally worked on her for the past couple months to get to this point, she is alive and thriving. Her leg is completely healed and it’s time for her to move on to her next journey. She’s the sweetest girl despite all she’s been through and needs the best forever home 🩷

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.64 pounds of pure love!! Big Billy is a dapper, dappled three-legged gentleman who loves head scratches, belly rubs, butt pats and kisses. In other words, this handsome boy allows all the love from all types of people. He’s a happy-go-lucky boy with constant tail wags and sweet, slobbery kisses. He’s mastered the head nudge to politely ask for more affection and is happiest when he can be by your side. He enjoys resting his head on your lap for scratches between his brows and will snuggle up in bed with you if you let him! His light green eyes and merle pattern are stunning, too! Big Billy is crate-trained, housebroken, and walks well–with just a little pulling–on his leash. He’s easy to redirect and listens like a champ. He comes when called and knows commands like sit, stay and wait. While we don’t know where Big Billy once lived, we can tell he came from a home where someone took the time to teach him to be a “good boy”!   Big Billy has been in foster care with two adults--a male and female--and a seven-year-old child who he is particularly fond of and absolutely adores. He has a tail-wagging good time meeting strangers and won't hesitate to flop over for a belly rub from the get-go. Big Billy’s enthusiasm for small dogs and cats is endearing, but his curiosity may come off as intimidating for cats & little dogs on the receiving end. His laid-back, easy-going personality has good potential for getting along well with other canine companions though he’d be just fine as the only dog in the home as he does love people!    Big Billy was found in February as a stray with a broken leg and brought into the county shelter. We presume the injury is from being hit by a car. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the fracture, and the length of time he had the broken bone before he found his way into foster care, amputation was his best option. He had the surgery on April 16th and adjusted immediately to 3-legs. He has since been cleared for adoption without any need for follow-ups or medicaiton and he is now ready to find the "furever" family he deserves! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. As a non-profit, we charge a nominal fee for all adoptions. In exchange for your adoption fee, all animals:  • Are spayed and neutered  • Are fully vaccinated based on age/weight at the time of adoption   • Have received a medical exam   • Are micro chipped   • All dogs are tested for heart worms  • All cats are tested at the time of entry for FIV and FeLV and will be specified if negative or positive in the medical as well as the description.  (Please note that FIV and FeLV testing at the time of entry do not guarantee the cats will be free of the disease.) Story
PLEASE READ ALL NOTES BELOW THE ANIMAL PROFILE! Meet Diamond! He was found on a backyard breeder property and he just needed better care than what they could offer me. Although he has battle wounds and may have some trust insecurities, his heart wants to open up and receive love. Having someone willing to give him time and TLC will let him be the sweet boy he knows he can be. He's lived outside all his life so being a part of a family that will spoil him will make him the happiest boy ever! From Diamond:Hi there, future family! My name is Diamond, and I'm a handsome 4-year-old pupper looking for my forever home! I'm a friendly, loving, and sweet soul who's been told I have a heart of gold. I get along great with big dogs, small dogs, and kids of all ages! I'm pretty laid back and enjoy chilling out, but I'm also super friendly and love to make new friends. I don't know many commands yet, but I'm learning every day! I'm crate trained, potty trained, and leash trained, so I'm ready to be your perfect companion. But I do need a little extra help with house training, especially with some destructive behavior when my humans aren't home. I'm looking for a small family who will shower me with love and attention. I'd be great for any family, but I haven't been tested with cats yet. I do love to track scents on walks, so that's something to keep in mind! I can fit into any home style, whether it's an apartment, townhome, or a house with a yard. I just need a loving family to call my own. Are you ready to add a sparkling Diamond to your life?
