Story
Hi there, my name is Tigger! Although I am on the older side, I`m still young at heart and have so much love to give! I especially love treats and learning new things- I already know `sit` and `shake`! I have done very well around dogs of all sizes in a foster home but we always recommend slow and monitored introductions with new animals and people. If you have any questions, please ask shelter staff.

Story
Hi there! My name is Josephine. Thanks for checking out my bio! I'm roughly 4 years old, but a true lady never reveals her age. Other than that, I don't have many secrets, and I have so much to tell you! I currently live with 3 other dogs, and I love all of them. I've also met some dogs on my various outings, and I think all of them have been super cool. I love to chew on toys and am happy to chill and hang out wherever you are, so I'm an ideal work from home buddy. I love pets, and I'm not shy about letting you know when I'm ready for them. No playing hard to get here-I'm a girl who knows what she wants! However, I don't like to yell or talk loudly and would much rather whisper sweet stories in your ear. In the mornings or when something exciting happens, I'll talk (grunt/grumble) up a storm, but overall, I'm a pretty quiet gal. I like to sleep in my pen at night and for naps during the day. A woman needs her beauty sleep. So, see...I'm sort of perfect! Now that I've won you over with all of my charm, let's get real with each other. I was in pretty rough shape when my foster humans found me, and they've done so much to help me. But just like everyone, I'm still a work in progress. I'm heartworm positive but have already completed all of my treatment. So now I just have to wait a few months to get retested and get that negative test result back to be officially heartworm free. Not so bad, right?! I also came to them unable to use my back legs. I do have feeling in them; they just don't like to talk to my brain right now. Maybe that's why I like to chat so much-to make up for my silly legs! The good news is I can get around really well with my front legs. I can scoot on the floor all by myself, or if you're up for some teamwork, I can walk around while you hold my back legs up with a sling. I also have a really cool wheelchair. Using it is a lot of work and can be tiring, but I love using it for short distances or to walk around the yard like an independent woman! I'm going to physical therapy twice a week to help my legs talk to my brain and keep them nice and strong. It's a lot of work, but I'm making impressive progress. And I'll need my new humans to keep up my therapy so I can keep it up! I'm now able to stand on my own and even take a step or two! Let's find out together how far I can go! Finally, I know it's sometimes considered impolite to talk about bathroom stuff. But with a pup like me, it's best to be up front. I know to do my business outside, but because I'm paralyzed in my back end, I have some trouble in that department. Poops are pretty easy most of the time. I just need extra help getting in position and balancing. Going pee is a little more difficult for me. It's hard for me to get everything out, so I'll need my new humans to assist me and express my bladder. But don't worry, my foster humans can show you how! And I like to think of all of this as a unique bonding opportunity! I know some of this might seem a bit overwhelming, but I have no doubt the perfect family is out there for me! Plus, my foster humans are ready to help answer any and all questions, so let's talk more and see if we're a match!

Story
Meet Poppy, affectionately known as Poptart! This 5-month-old bully breed mix weighs about 25 pounds and is as sweet as her nickname suggests. Poppy is crate-trained (and sleeps through the night like a champ!) and is almost fully house-trained. Her love for treats makes her a quick learner, and she’s already mastering basic commands. Poppy is currently fostered with other dogs and does great with her foster sibling, showing excellent social skills and taking cues like a pro. While she hasn’t been around children or cats, her adaptable nature suggests she’d adjust well with the right introductions. Poppy’s favorite pastimes include playing tug, chewing on a good bone, and, above all, snuggling. She’s the ultimate cuddle buddy, always ready to curl up next to you while you work, read, or enjoy a cozy nap on a rainy day. This bright and affectionate pup would thrive in a home committed to providing her with mental and physical stimulation while continuing her journey to becoming an upstanding canine citizen. If you’re looking for a loving, playful companion, Poppy might be your perfect match!

Story
We first met Hank (aka Wrinkle Daddy) 5 years ago at our local shelter. We were told at the time that he was 2 years old, making him 7 now. We instantly fell in love with his sweet face and goofy personality and took him home that day. Hank looks forward to a daily walk but otherwise is the ultimate couch companion! This snuggly and affectionate guy loves to curl up with people and will even ask to get under a blanket with you if you’re inclined to let him. Hank has received professional training and responds to basic commands. He is very food motivated which makes additional treat training easier. We love this dog and think he would make a great solo pet for the right household!

Story
Remy's personality is extremely loving and gentle with adults and children. He is a lazy lounger, loves to snuggle and he needs a loving home to share his abounding love. He is loyal and will follow commands. He needs to be an only dog since he prefers his humans to other canines and does not like cats. Remy belonged to my father who has passed away. Since he struggled with mobility issues and was not capable of walking Remy regularly, Remy gained some weight but is now on weight reducing food and has lost a few pounds. He is house trained and up to date on vaccinations. We would love to find someone in the area who can give Remy the home he deserves and we would be willing to help financially for his needs in the right home.

Story
Kiko's breed is technically called BD Terrier (American Bulldog x Bull Terrier). Kiko was Rescued at Wake County Animal Shelter in January 2022 when he was 2 yrs old and we have given him a decent life since. He is friendly, sweet and affectionate, he is playful, a great companion and snuggler, he is house trained, crate trained, and potty trained. When home alone he likes to sleep for hours. As we just moved to a smaller apartment; Kiko would definitely benefit from staying in a larger home with preferably a yard, or pet parents that like to leash walk him a few times a day for some light exercise.

Story
Lucy is approximately 6 years old and looking for her forever home! She is a big love sponge and has never met a stranger. For the first 5 years of her life she was kept outside in a small pen but for the last year has adjusted beautifully to being an inside dog. She is crate trained and housebroken, sleeps in the crate at night and is crated with her favorite kong toy or bone when home alone. Lucy is high energy and would do best in a home with a large yard or the ability to take her on a long walk daily. She knows several basic commands and is a fast learner with endless potential to learn tricks. Lucy loves to chew on bones and toys but has never chewed any shoes or furniture. She has played well with other dogs but plays fairly rough and needs to be supervised during playtime. She injured another small dog in the home which has prompted us to rehome her. Lucy’s ideal home has no cats or small dogs.
