Story
Say hello to Sadie! This sweet 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog is looking for a loving and gentle forever family to call her own! Sadie is a shy girl who loves people but can be a bit sensitive and nervous around strangers until she feels comfortable... Once she gets to know and trust you, Sadie is a snuggly sweetheart who wants to please and cuddle! Sadie came to us when things were not working out for her in her previous home. Sadie does not always appreciate her personal space being invaded and can have some body handling sensitivity, unfortunately the young children in her previous home did not understand appropriate boundaries with dogs, so the home was just not the right fit for Sadie. Sadie did live in a home with other dogs and a cat, so we think she should do well in a home with other friendly animals after a proper slow introduction. Sadie is also used to being around horses and may appreciate the chance to run and stretch her legs on a farm or ranch! We do think a home without any young children will be the best choice for Miss Sadie! This girl loves to run and play! We think she would do well in a home where she can get lots of exercise, both mental and physical. (She is a herding dog, after all!) Sadie is a smart cookie and we think obedience and maybe even agility work would be right up this girl`s alley! Sadie is pretty overweight right now, we have her on a special diet food and she is getting lots of nice walks with volunteers but we would love to see her continue to slim down and reach a healthier weight in her new home. Sadie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines! This girl is going to be an amazing pooch for the right home, she just needs someone special to give her a chance! If you would like to inquire more about Sadie, give us a call at (970)328-3647!

Story
Age: 11 monthsWeight: 60lbsDogs? Yes! I`ve made a few dog friends at the shelter.About Me: Hey there! I`m Rosie! I`m just a puppy looking for my forever home! I`m a 60 pound lap dog, smart as a whip, and great on a walk. I`ve got lots of energy for play time but I`m also happy to sit under a desk and rest while you work. Swing by the shelter and take me home, I`ll fit in forever! If interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website by following https://www.ark-valley.org/adoption-matchmaker-application/. We recommend calling the shelter at 719-395-2737 after you submit your application to ensure that we have received it. You can also give us a call if you have any questions or would like to learn more about a specific animal. Walk-ins are welcome during our open hours Monday-Saturday 12-5pm, although an adoptable animal may be in a foster home instead of at the shelter, so we also recommend calling us prior to driving to the shelter to confirm the pet`s current location. If you prefer emailing instead, you can reach our staff at to info@ark-valley.org, however, time sensitive matters would be addressed quicker via phone.Note: We do not DNA test our animals to determine breeds. The listed breed(s) are either an educated guess from staff based on physical characteristics, or from information given by their previous home.
