I am seeking a new home for an amazing elderly retired service dog belonging to an elderly friend of mine with various physical and mental health challenges. Emmie has served this fellow Louisvillian for several years and now needs to finish her life in a safe and stable home where her daily needs can be met, and she can continue to be loved on. Emmie is a 13-yr-old Australian cattle dog and weighs about 40 lbs. She is playful but mild mannered, and cooperates well with other dogs and cats. She shows some weakness in her back legs. We hope to find a place as soon as possible since her current care situation is not suitable to meet her basic needs. As of right now it is not guaranteed that she will be taken outside every day, and the financial strain her owner faces takes a toll on her care.

Meet Lennox, a 2-year-old female cattle dog mix who weighs 39 pounds. She’s spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and preventative care. This sweetheart is an absolute joy and will bring endless happiness to her new family. Lennox graduated from our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. She’s crate trained, house trained, and knows basic commands. She loves attention and craves love and affection. Lennox needs a home without dogs or cats. A fenced-in yard is a preferred so she can get the exercise she needs. She’s a people person and thrives on obedience and structure. Lennox takes medication daily called Proin. Say hello to Meeko! Meeko is part Australian cattle dog. He is relentlessly happy. He will always be happy to see. Loves playing outside, with toys, or with other dogs. He is also a great cuddler. He had a tragic puppyhood. He had a horrible case of mange. He recovered from that, then he got so sick and almost died, but he fought back! Then he was in a bad car wreck but bounced back from that too. He clearly lives life to the fullest and loves everyday after going through those set backs. He is crate trained, and loves crashing hard in his bed while he waits for his person to get home from work. He is also very food motivated, so very trainable, and does great on walks. He has been healthy, happy and fully vaccinated for some time. His foster home for the last year has had 2 other dogs and a decent size yard for him to blow off some energy. His perfect home would include someone who is as loving as he is, has had experience with energetic dogs in the past, someone who is active, and has a yard so he can run off some of his breeds naturally energy. Milo is a high energy 5.5-year-old, half Austrian Shepard, half English Shepard. I received him from a breeder off a farm near Elizabethtown, KY when he was an 8-week-old puppy. He has lived most of his life in the city, however my parents have a farm that he visits frequently. Milo loves to run around the farm and explore. He has always been a very smart dog, he would learn tricks quickly, but he will push the boundaries of the trick/command. Milo has had some problems with aggression in the past. Generally, Milo is friendly with humans, just give him time to greet you, but other dogs tend to make him defensive, specifically large male dogs. Usually, if he has time to slowly meet another dog and get used to the dog, he is very playful with them. Milo has tons of energy and would be a great dog for lots of exercise, I have walked with him and run with him before on the leash, but he does pull some. The ideal home for Milo would be lots of land, or at least somewhere with a large yard.
