Story
(DOB 07/22/2023) Meet this lovable companion! Winnie is such a sweet girl who absolutely loves giving hugs and kisses. She’s always ready for a car ride and enjoys going with you whenever she can. She is happy to sit in the back seat and doesn't need to ride "shotgun." She is a great travel companion for sure. She’s good with kids and other people, though sometimes her enthusiasm can be overwhelming. When she runs to greet someone, it can startle them, especially when she wants to jump up. This is something she’s working on, as she knows it’s not always well-received. Just know Winnie is doing it out of immense joy! Her excitment boils over to walks as well and she is working on her leash manners and getting better but will need to continued practice and good routine. Winnie is quite the little athlete! She has LOTS of happy, energy and loves all kinds of sports. Some of her favorites are chasing and retrieving balls, leaping high in the air to catch nerf frisbees and herding two huge herding balls. She can spin them up off of her nose, roll them off her back, and then snag the handle to take it back for another toss. She is also exceptional at juggling balloons and playing balloon volleyball if it is not too windy outside and sometimes even inside. Winnie is a master at being gentle and can make a balloon last a long time! Winnie also loves the water and jumping in to cool off. Winnie enjoys sitting on the couch next to her humans while they chill and watch movies together. She also loves to sleep on the bed when she wants, but she’s very respectful of personal space. In the mornings, she’ll snuggle up for some “puppy love” before starting the day. When she doesn’t sleep on the bed, she’s happy to rest on the couch. Despite trying three different dog beds, she just doesn’t seem to enjoy them. Some other silly, fun and unique things about sweet Winnie, a little quirk is her love for small trash cans—she’ll sneak into them if they’re within reach, so they always have to be covered or kept out of sight. She’s also a fantastic communicator! When she needs something, she’ll stare at you or smack her lips until you figure it out. And one of the best things about her: she’s a great guard dog. She barks when there’s something important to alert you to, but she doesn’t bark endlessly for no reason. That’s one of the things her humans love most about her! When it comes to other dogs, she can be what may be "jealous" of her special person, so she might do better with another dog if she’s not around her owner. Winnie may be best suited as an only dog or with a family that is familar with slow and proper introductions and monitored playtime. Winnie has gotten along with dogs, but if they run, she’ll definitely chase after them—because, let’s face it, most dogs love "the chase!" She’d do best with a dog who’s calm and confident to stand their ground. Winnie has some hops for sure and can amaze you with her ability to jump fences so if there is a fenced yard it should be 6ft or she should be on a leash. Winnie has the best ears and is always listening intently to anything you say! She is a great little partner if you work from home or are home a good amount of time. She also has the cutest pink "lips" that look like she is always ready to give you a kiss! No matter what’s happening, she wants to be right by your side. You'd be a winner if you adopted Winnie for sure! If you are ready to love Winnie as much as her foster has, and get so much joy and love in return, then fill out an application today!  As part of Winnie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Winnie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2307175##

Story
Key words: • chill vibes• affectionate• Affectionate towards people• not good with other dogs• heartworm positive; ongoing treatment• good working from home• not a barkerMy name is Rolando, but you can call me Rolly, and I am an 8 year old Australian cattle dog mix.I was at the Wake County Animal Shelter from June to July before going home with a foster family. If you want a low-maintenance, chill-energy dog, then I'm the one you're looking for.I enjoy lounging, looking for affection, and walks (which have to be shorter because I'm heartworm positive).I love meeting new people. If I see someone, I will want to go say hi, which is great, because I'm a big hit in this neighborhood! However, I am very up-front with other dogs and can't help myself with boundaries - I like to go right up to them and this is off-putting to most other dogs. For this reason, I need to be monitored closely when I'm around other dogs.I'm neutered, housebroken, and receiving treatment for my heartworms and I'm ready to bring love and affection to a new family. Story
Marcella is a happy, silly girl looking for her second forever home. She was adopted as a puppy but came back recently because her family could not take care of her anymore. She's put on a few pounds since we last saw her, but she's eating nothing but salads and going to the gym twice a week, so we think she'll be able to squeeze into that bikini this summer.Marcella does well with everyone with proper introductions, which are very important because she's deaf. You really can't tell though, because she's very observant and pays close attention. For a dog that can't hear, she listens really well!Marcella is looking for a low-key home (she can get kind of amped up in chaos) with a family that will support her journey to wellness. She has some weight-related joint issues, but gets around just fine. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and very smart. If you're interested in learning more about Marcella, email her foster mom at diadrascritters@gmail.com. You can also see her in IG: #marcellawiththegoodears Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 57 Age: 8yrs 2mths 1wks

Story
Meet Calle, a sweet 3-year-old girl who came to us as a stray just after Christmas. At 49 pounds, she's the perfect size and has a well-groomed coat, showing signs that she was once someone's pet. Calle is calm and affectionate, warming up quickly and walking beautifully on a leash. She's always looking back to check in with you, as if to say, "Let's do this!"While Calle isn't too interested in treats when outside (there's just too much to sniff and explore!), she takes them gently once back in her kennel and sits nicely for you. In playgroup, Calle surprised us with a little burst of energy! She may be shy at first, but she's eager to engage and played nicely with a male dog one-on-one.Calle would do best in an active home that can keep up with her energetic nature. She's a sweet and intelligent girl, likely with some Australian Cattle dog in her, and would love plenty of outdoor adventures and chew toys. If you're interested in learning more about her, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Calle 256555".She is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
