Story
Please help us find a home for this very energetic, large dog. She is beautiful in every way BUT she is "too much dog" for most people. Calleena has been in care of SimcoeDHumane since December 8 2023. While in her foster homes, she has learned all about family life with cats, dogs, kids, some larger animals as well! The large dogs she lives with, often put her in her place and she loves working for affection.Crate and house trained, doing well on leash and walks, love car rides, learning basic commands, high puppy energy, playful, love a good snuggle, and recall - well, not so much! If she had a fenced in area where she could run play and another large well mannered dog to play with would be just grand.History:Surrendered by owner as they could no longer look after, Calleen and her siblings (5 females and 2 males) are looking for Foster or Foster2Adopt Homes, especially over the Holidays. These precious 5 week old babies are too young to be away from Mom BUT 1.5-year-old Mom is depleted and is very ready to have a life without having babies. She is resting lots, gaining strength daily, finding her own space.

Archie is a sweet, goofy, affectionate boy once he gets to know you. He loves playing with squeaky toys, carrying his stuffed toys around the house and nibbling on pig ear treats (supervised, of course). He is happy playing fetch or sniffing around any toys full of treats he can find. He’s an amazing work-from-home companion and will fall asleep at your feet during the day. You can count on him to show off his tricks and he will always let you know when he wants to play fetch! Archie has been in Canada for 5 years, having previously arrived with his siblings as puppies. Since then, he was adopted but his family added a baby to the household, and poor Archie was not a fan and was quite jealous. Because of this, Archie was surrendered back to us and is currently in foster care looking for a new home without any young kids so he can soak up all the attention. Archie would love to be in a home in the suburbs with a fenced backyard so he can run around and play. He is fearful of unexpected sounds on walks, but with a patient and gentle approach he is learning to walk without pulling. While he builds his confidence, it would be great if he had a back yard to help him burn off some energy. He is medium energy and currently gets his exercise in the backyard or other fenced in areas. Archie is a flight risk so it is important he is kept on a leash when outdoors or in a fenced-in area. Archie currently goes on 2 walks per day that last between 10 and 15 minutes and he does need some gentle guidance as he gets distracted about the idea of going home, getting into a car and will pull away from loud noises. Archie is very friendly with people he knows and is playful and cuddly. His current family always asks new guests to let Archie come to them when they enter the home and, though initially a little nervous, he soon goes over to make a new friend. Archie is comfortable around other dogs and behaves well when socializing off leash. He would do best with a canine companion to show him the ropes. Archie is potty and crate-trained and is comfortable being left alone during the day for up to five hours. He sleeps well throughout the night either in his crate with the door open or on another spot on the floor. He loves predictability and routine and is fearful of loud noises like thunder, fireworks, construction, and loud vehicles. Indoors, he knows commands like sit, come, lie down, head down, up, stand, spin, touch, speak, and even play dead - he is treat-motivated indoors and a quick learner! Outdoors, his nerves get the best of him and he is not as attentive and does not have great recall. He is looking for a family that will continue to work with him on this. Archie has environmental allergies and takes medication for this, which is partially covered by pet insurance already in place. Adopters can convert this over to them once adopted and the average cost would be $57. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting Archie, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Archie’s adoption fee is $250. Story
FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Mercy into the Fetch + Releash family September 15th (subject to change). In order for Mercy to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take her home on her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mercy / Female / 5 years/ 27 pounds / Australian Cattle Dog Mix/ Great Family Dog / Good Apartment Dog / from Tennessee Mercy was surrendered after her owners split up; one could no longer care for her, and the other felt overwhelmed with four dogs. This charming southern girl found herself without a home, so we stepped in to offer her refuge at our partner sanctuary. Mercy is an affectionate and outgoing dog who adores everyone she meets. She enjoys the company of other dogs but thrives on human attention and is truly a lap dog at heart. Previously, Mercy lived with three other unrelated dogs in a home where she had free access to both indoors and outdoors. She is house-trained and pee pad trained for times when she can't go outside. While she may have some accidents as she adjusts to her new routine, she will quickly settle into her new home. Mercy will need some continued support with basic training. Having been used to free-roaming, crate training may be a new experience for her. Trust and consistency will be key to her adjustment. She does well on a leash but prefers a harness; with positive association, she'll become a pro in no time. Her eagerness to please should make further training a breeze. Mercy’s small size makes her ideal for condo or apartment living, provided her exercise needs are met. She'll need two walks a day, plus opportunities to relieve herself. Enrichment and playtime will keep her happy and mentally stimulated. While a yard is a nice bonus, it's not essential—Mercy would be perfectly content with a warm lap to curl up on after a walk or play session. Mercy loves people, especially children, and her favorite person is her temporary foster dad. No matter the size of your family, there's room for this delightful companion. We hope that Mercy will soon find her forever home, where she will be showered with the love and care she so richly deserves. Mercy tested positive for Ehrlichia which is a common tick-borne disease that stays in the bloodstream for many years. This has been treated, and moving forward regular yearly bloodwork would be recommended. Although this should not cause any issues moving forward, it's important that if Mercy required surgery or a dental, pre-operative blood work (CBC+Platelet count) are completed beforehand. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Mercy's adoption fee is $850. To learn more about our adoption fees and the foster-to-adopt process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.
