Cherry is an approximately 3 year old Heeler mix that weighs 35 pounds. She is house trained, uses a doggie door and she is kennel trained. She is up to date on all her shots, heartworm negative and recently spayed. This beautiful girl is sweet, affectionate and a loyal companion once she trust you. However, she is defensive when meeting people especially men and it will take time and patience for her to learn to trust. Cherry was abused and neglected before coming into APAC and would do best with someone who has experience with this type of dog. Cherry has not been around many children so not sure how she would behave with them. Cherry is completely house broken, quiet, loves snuggling with her favorite person and is the perfect playmate with her doggy pals. This girl is truly an amazing dog once you get to know her and would be a wonderful and protective companion for a woman or couple with loving understanding. Cherry’s adoption fee is $165. She is not good with small dogs or cats. She would do great in a house that would be willingly to help her get comfortable with the world and go on adventures. Meet Rodger, the adorable boy with both good looks AND personality. We think Rodger is somewhere between 2-4 years old, maybe a cattle dog/husky mix, currently just under 50 lbs. He came in to the shelter as a stray severely malnourished and with a significant limp. The vets determined he had a dislocated hip from an old injury. He is now recovering from his surgery and doing fantastic in his foster home. He is doing great with rehab and gaining some much-needed weight. Rodger is UTD on all vaccines, HW negative, and neutered. He has medium energy, is great with leash walking, house trained, crate trained, knows basic obedience, and is good with dogs of all sizes. At the shelter he ignored the cats in the cat room (his foster home doesn’t have cats). If you are looking for a sweet companion, Rodger would be an excellent choice. Meet Cissy! She is a beautiful Aussie (maybe with Jack Russell?) mixed girl approx 2-3 yrs old and weighing approximately 35 lb. She is utd on vaccines, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. She loves other dogs and is good with cats, too. She is very housebroken and is learning good house manners. She walks well on a leash and loves going for walks. She loves pleasing her people! Cissy initially experienced some separation issues in foster care but has responded very well with training. These days, she is sort of like a Gremlin (80’s reference); she has rules! Cissy needs a home where her new family will be dedicated to continuing her daily structure/training and help her maintain the manners and confidence that she has now learned. Examples of her rules are: she is not allowed on furniture or beds, she cannot jump on anyone for attention, she must be crated several hours a day to get enough sleep (while her family is at work/school and at night), and she must be supervised while not crated to maintain her structure and focus (she is not destructive). While being supervised, it is a great time to work on commands, go for a walk, play outside, or practice her “place” command. She initially had great issues with crating, but she is crating quite well now. Cissy has worked hard and is now ready to find a family dedicated to loving her forever. Story

Laramie is the sweetest little red heeler mix. She is amost 4 months old (as of 3/31/25). She is utd on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and on heartworm prevention. Her spay is included in her adoption fee when done at our vet. Laramie was so scared when we pulled her from the shelter but she has absolutely blossomed in her foster home. In less than a week is kennel trained and has been sleeping through the night. She is doing amazing on house training and has not had an accident in the house after the first 3 days. She is catching on to the command "go potty" very well, but loves her attention first when coming out of her kennel. With a consistent schedule, we would say she is house trained. While we are still working on her confidence outside of her foster home, we are confident with patience and positive reinforcement she will make great strides. We believe she can learn anything with love and positive training techniques. She has not had enough vaccines to begin working on leash training but expect she will learn fast. Once she trusts you she is very attentive and loves pets. She gets along well with the foster dogs and she loves to play chase with a willing friend.
