We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
We are trying to help this sweet girl called Bonnie Belle to find a home since her elderly parents are in failing health and cannot care for their five dogs.  Bonnie Belle is a mix of some interesting breeds.  We think she has some Aussie and maybe Boxer in her.  The Australian Shepherd trait is what makes her a protector of the yard and home when strangers approach.  She is the home security dog officer!   This girl is losing her home because her elderly parents have fallen into bad health.  Bonnie Belle is 4 years old and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  She adores people and is good with the other dogs that she spends time with in the fenced yard.  She is housebroken, affectionate and a devoted girl to her family.  If you would like to give Bonnie her next forever home, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue who is helping her at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Lora Lee is a very sweet dog that is just 2 years old and weighs 38 pounds.  She is said to be an Aussie mix with some Terrier.  Whatever the mix is we think she is a most unusual and truly a beautiful girl who well with other dogs in her foster home.  She is a friend to all and apparently she is house trained as long as taken out regular. Lola Lee is crate trained but cannot be left for long hours in the crate.  She is not leash trained  but is trying to improve.   We are requesting that applicants have a fenced yard for her because she is an active girl that needs to run and play with freedom and not at the end of a leash only. This beauty loves to cuddle and be by your side like your BFF and shadow. If you have another dog that would be great for her to have a playmate that can help her wear out her energy every day.  Lola Lee is a great girl and she is going to need an active family that can challenge and meet her need for exercise and be able to keep up with her.   She is really not a dog for a retirement couple that are ready to have a more laidback dog with fewer exercise demands.  If you are interested in this girl please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Meet Handsome Cooper.  This beautiful Australian Shepherd is 8 years old and only 24 lbs.  Cooper is a ball of energy and you would never guess that he was more than 3 years old.  He is having the time of his life now that he has a huge fenced in yard where he runs and plays.  He is not used to all this space as he had no yard before.  He only got walked for exercise.  Cooper came to Critter Cavalry because his mom could no longer take care of him.  This active guy loves people.  Cooper would enjoy an active family that will take him on walks and hikes.  He is smart too and would love a family that would teach him things.  He knows how to walk on a leash and doesn't pull.  He is the perfect companion for someone who would like to teach him commands or even agility.  Cooper has lived as an only dog and would be fine getting all the attention.  A fenced in yard is a must for this guy and when you see how much he enjoys it you will understand.  Cooper loves people and just wants to be where you are.  He is a very sweet and loving little guy.  He will be an excellent addition to your family.  Cooper has been neutered, is current on all his shots, heartworm negative, microchipped and he has had a dental.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Cooper is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
This is Sevyn. I rescued Sevyn from my Dads home. He passed away Thanksgiving Day of last year. He took such good care of her. I tried to take her in but I can no longer take care of her due to my busy work schedule. All shelters are at capacity and will not take surrenders. She is a large size dog and requires outside time. She is a good dog. Shes independent and loves to lay around. Sometimes she needs a little redirection because she can get extremely hyper. I would love for her to find a forever home, someone who can provide her proper love and attention just like my Dad did with her. If you are interested please let me know.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/gener.You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.Dog's Name:   Rufus  (RUF0624MCTMD)Estimated Breed:   Australian Shepherd MIXApproximate Age:   2 yearsApproximate Weight:   55 lbsCurrently Living at:   FosterAdoption Fee:   $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Hi there, I'm Rufus, and I've had a bit of a rough transition, but I am in a great foster home now with another resident doggie. As you can see from my photos, I've had a hair cut to fix my matted coat, but don't worry, I'll be fluffy again in no time! My foster mom says that I am still settling in and just starting to relax, but that I seem to like people and other dogs and I have a sweet personality. I am not currently using a crate, but at the beginning, I was fine sleeping in one; and, so far, seem to be housetrained. I also know how to walk on leash. Here's an update from my foster mom: Rufus loves to play with toys! As a young pup, he enjoys moving them around and munching on them. He can also fetch! - he will get the ball and bring it back, even though he is still learning to let it go so you can throw it again. He is learning "sit" and most of the time can do it when offered a treat. He is eating well and resting by my feet when we are not out and running. He has good interactions with dogs - both with Leia, but also when we meet dogs in the street. He loves cuddling and really enjoys being petted and hugged.  If you are interested in adopting me please submit an application today!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
