Story
URGENT Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Boone, NC Fig is an 1 year old Australian Shepherd/Miniature American Shepherd/Husky/Border Collie mix and weighs 50 lbs. He is neutered and up to date on shots, but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Fig is nervous around strangers! He is good with kids, cats (as long as they don’t run away from him), and dogs! He is housebroken and crate/trained. Fig bit a visitor in their home the day after his foot surgery. This occurred when a visiting child was making food in their kitchen and Fig jumped up, putting pressure on his injured foot. She pushed him off the counter and he froze before he bit her. He is currently on Prozac. He has some leash reactivity towards cars and other dogs. The owner is surrendering him because of his fear aggression and they have children. They have worked with a behavioral trainer who said he would do well in a less chaotic home. He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for Fig, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Fig. Owner’s Contact Information: Byrony at bluebirdexchange@gmail.com.

Story
We rescued Rip from a bad home and from ending up on the street, weren’t sure if he’d be a good fit for us (we’re Great Dane people) and we’re not allowed to have more than our one dog per our lease. But we knew at the very least we’d find him a good home and keep him off the streets. He’s good with cats, good with dogs, needs adjustment time to get used to dogs coming into his house and great with kids, infants unknown just cause he’s got a lot of energy. His previous owners shaved him at one point (not supposed to fully shave doublecoated dogs) so he overheats if outside too long, needs to not be an outdoor dog. He's insanely friendly and lovable but he was attacked as a puppy so he’s protective of his ears. Even with that protectiveness though, he keeps his cool he just prefers them not to be messed with. Will let Vets touch them if peanut butter is involved haha love and treat motivated. He’s such a good dog and deserves a good family that will love him as much as he will them.

Story
Hi! My name is Donut! Cute, huh? I was born on June 14, 2022. I was adopted from Heart of the Foothills as a puppy, but then ended up at the animal shelter in another county. The shelter contacted Heart since they were listed on my microchip. They were not able to ever reach my adoptive parents, so I went back to Heart and have been there ever since.I'm an Australian Shepherd, so I'm very sweet, but also very high energy. My very favorite thing to do is run around outside. I could run forever! I'd really love a home with a fenced in yard to help keep me safe while I explore and play. I also really love my swimming pool!I'm a very smart guy; I know several commands. I am friendly with other dogs, so if you already have a pup, I'd love to make friends with them! I would do best in an active household with older children. I'm still a young dog, so sometimes I don't understand my strength. I'm very friendly, but I may be a little much for a small child. I currently weigh about 50 pounds; I shouldn't get too much bigger, no more than about 60.I'd really love a home of my own with my very own forever family. If you're looking for a new best friend, please give me a chance! If you are interested in adopting this animal please fill out an application at heartofthefoothills.org/adopt.
