Story
Cooper is a mini Australian Shepherd born in July 2024. I got Cooper about 3 months ago from a breeder. Unfortunately my company is mandating I start going back to the office. I cannot leave him at home alone for 8 plus hours so I feel it is better for him to be with someone who can give him more time. He is mostly potty trained but will still have accidents if not kept on a schedule. He loves other dogs, if there is another dog in the home they need to be tolerant of a high energy puppy. Adopter needs to understand this breed and know he will require a lot of exercise. He is shy with new people and takes a bit for him to trust. Will be very loyal to his person. Shots are up to date, but he is not yet neutered. He weighs 13 lbs, will be no more than 25 pounds. He will come with his harness, leash, crate, puppy food and all his favorite toys. He is very well behaved, does not chew on anything but his toys. Knows basic commands. $200 rehoming fee so that I only get serious inquiries.

Story
Lexie is a 7 year old Austalian Shepherd mix. Full of energy, this incredibly sweet girl is looking for a life partner to explore with. she loves couch time with her favourite people. trying to read a book? well, be prepared to have a dog flipping every page for you, as she knows no personal space! Lexie would do best as an only dog and with kids 13+ years of age. she maybe super playful and full of energy, but she does enjoy her alone time.

Story
Smokey was born Jan 12th 2024, she was one out of a litter of 5 puppies. We got her March 23rd along with her brother. Here are the dates for her shots: 1st set 3/8, 2nd set 4/16 and 3rd set 5/16. She was spayed and chipped August 28th. She is registered in portage county - for the next 3 years. We have tags for both. Her fur has come in nicely and is very soft. She has a little white goatee on her chin (brown hair on mouth) She is is the alpha between the 2 dogs. She loves attention and listens well to commands. We got 2 pups and they get very jealous when you show one attention, they want your full attention. They play aggressively and we feel that they would do better in separate homes. She is trained to use a doggie door and enjoys running around outside. We would like to see her go to a home in which she would be the only pet. She loves to jump, very curious. She’s a very loving girl.

Story
Buddy is a very sweet and calm 3 yr old Border Aussie, hard to find calm with this breed. He is good with bigger dogs, cats, and children. He is housebroken, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He is very loyal and always wants to be by his person. He was from a litter we bred and unfortunately the owner could no longer care for him (no fault of his own). He is not neutered at this time. We have taken him to our campground and he does very well. He would be a great Christmas present for someone!!!

Gunner is an extremely loving boy. He loves all people and just is waiting for his chance to have his family and be able to run and play. He came to me from very bad conditions from an owner that was no longer able to keep up with him due to a busy work life. Please give this little guy a chance for a new life and come meet him! He loves new people and would love to make some friends.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Jingles. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Calcutta area and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet, energetic boy looking for a new family to love. I have been very good with people and I love going out for walks with the volunteers. I know some basic commands and I so appear to have been a house dog. I have been good around the other dogs here at the pound, but should meet any dogs I will live with in a new home to make sure we're compatible. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
