Story
Bindi is a 4 year and 6 month old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix weighing 30 pounds. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender due to not being able to provide the time and attention she needs. Potential adopters required to understand breed specific needs. Bindi is a high energy dog and needs an active family, she will not do well if left alone for any period of time. Bindi can be timid with strangers, letting her approach you is best. Once she knows you, she's a very sweet girl and loves belly rubs. Bindi is very smart, quick to listen to commands, she's been through puppy training and basic obedience classes. She loves to be outside and go on adventures, good at parks. She LOVES to play fetch, a tennis ball is her favorite toy. If she does not have a daily outlet for her energy and need to "work" or is left alone she becomes very anxious. When she becomes bored she gets herself into trouble. She is good but selective with other dogs, another dog in the home may help her thrive, she can resource guard with her toys and other dogs-supervision needed at all times with toys. Good with children over 12 who will understand her boundaries. Her adoption fee is $150, this includes her spay, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. Her dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet her, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Brooks has been our baby since he was a puppy. He's great in cars, on runs and trails, loves to play and loves affection. He's always seen himself as one of us, he's cozy and comfortable inside just relaxing while we do. Loves sticks and chasing balls down. A very good listener, he sits, stays, lays down, and shakes. We've never fed him table food, and he's always gotten our best. He's vocal towards protecting his property and his needs, but a simple "no" or "thank you Brooks" is enough to stop his alerts. He's been around other dogs and cats his whole life, and he's not had many issues. We just had our first child, and in his limited experience around children, he's been tentative and nervous. He's shown his teeth to our child and growled, but we haven't let it go any further. We have another on the way and it's very difficult keeping the family apart. We'd love Brooks to enjoy the rest of his life in a place with more space and no one that makes him nervous like small children do.

Story
Get ready to meet your new best friend! My name is James! I’m a handsome Australian Shepherd just waiting for my forever home. I’m just getting acclimated to my new environment here at the shelter but they say I’m doing a great job! I love playing and I especially love getting all the snuggles from the volunteers here. I’m 4 years old and I’ve heard the volunteers here saying Australian Shepherds are very smart dogs. I’m hoping that since I’m a smart boy, I’m small to medium sized (35 pounds) and I have beautiful multi-colored eyes…that I won’t have a hard time finding a warm home to call my own soon. If you think you might be a good fit for me then please come to the shelter to meet me! Bring any other dogs you might have in your home too! They say we need to do a meet and greet to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone! - James 🐾 The shelter is open Tuesday's through Friday's 3:30pm-6:30pm & Saturday's & Sunday's 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need.

No need to look any further. Here I am!! 🐾 Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Myrtle and I’m the best combo of sweet and sassy that you’ve been looking for your whole life! First things first….I’m an Australian Shepherd and I’ve been hearing all of these nice people at the animal shelter say I’m such a smart girl. I guess my breed is known for being smart, energetic and loyal. I agree! I enjoy going for walks and playing but I’m at the perfect age where I also love a good cuddle session with my humans. I’m 5 years old and I’m in my prime if I do say so myself! Along with being the perfect age, I’m also the perfect size! I weigh in at 40 lbs so I’m your gal if you’re looking for a dog that’s not too big or not too small. I’m just right! I’d love to have a family of my own and maybe even some fur siblings if it’s the right fit! When you come up to meet me please bring any other dogs in the home so we can do a meet and greet! Stay sassy - Myrtle 🐾 The shelter is open Tuesday's through Friday's 3:30pm-6:30pm & Saturday's & Sunday's 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need.
