Story
Located in Warren, PA Baby and King are a bonded pair of Italian Greyhounds in need of a new home together. They were taken in by a compassionate, breed-experienced woman in order to improve their situation and ensure that their future would be happy and safe; with six dogs of her own, she is not in a position to offer them a permanent home. Baby is a four-year-old, fawn female who weighs about twelve pounds, while King, who is blue and white, is five-years-old and weighs thirty-two pounds. King had a veterinarian appointment which included a thyroid panel and all results are normal – he does not have hypothyroidism. With the continuation of a good diet and exercise, he should continue to slim down – his weight has currently been reduced to thirty-two pounds. The following requests have been made for Baby and King’s new home: No children – although not aggressive, King was jealous of the baby in his previous home A fenced yard – must be six-foot high Italian Greyhound experience And, of course, lots of love! These two Italian Greyhounds are doing exceptionally well in their current home and are great dogs. They are house trained to potty outside, with Fawn also being trained to use doggy training pads and King using them if he “has to.” They are accident-free if taken outside as needed. Of course, a positive house-training approach and acceptance of accidents is necessary! Although not crate trained, Baby and King, when left alone, do fine in a gated area of the kitchen; they are accustomed to being on-leash and doing nicely with loose-leash walking (Italian Greyhound Place would be glad to provide information on techniques for this); they are currently living with other dogs and do great with them; and although Fawn does well with cats, King is interested in chasing them. Both Baby and King, who are fairly high-energy, are lovable and friendly; King does take some time to warm to people, but once he does, is very loving. Baby gives kisses and King will put his paws on your shoulders and give hugs. Italian Greyhound Place always puts an emphasis on safety, but please be aware that King will try to exit doors and scale a fence. His tendency to dart out a door or attempt to get over a fence will be more pronounced when he is acclimating to a new home, but an adopter should not become complacent. If you would like to consider sharing your home and love with these two, sweet Italian Greyhounds, please contact Italian Greyhound Place.
