Story
Flaca, whose name means "skinny girl," got her name after being rescued in a severely malnourished state. But those hard days are behind her—now she's a healthy, happy pup with the ultimate foster glow-up! Flaca is a 6–8-year-old, 7-10-pound female chihuahua/italian greyhound mix from Mexico who is adjusting well to life in the big city. This sweet girl adores cuddling with her humans, playing with her canine foster sister, and soaking up tummy rubs. She's eager to please and making great progress with obedience training. Flaca is mostly pee pad trained and is learning to go potty outside too. She's doing wonderfully on the leash—she enjoys stopping to people-watch sometimes but remains unfazed by city noises and is well-mannered around other animals. Quiet, affectionate, and easygoing, Flaca just wants to give and receive love. She can be a little shy at first, but she opens up quickly in the right environment. Despite her rough start in life, Flaca is incredibly trusting and happy. Her future family will need to continue reinforcing the progress she’s made, but she’s already doing great in her crate. She sleeps through the night and is content hanging out in her crate or playpen when left alone. While she’d prefer to be near her humans, she doesn’t seem to suffer from separation anxiety. Flaca loves being cozy and can often be found curled up on a pillow or dog bed, peacefully snoozing away. She has short bursts of playful energy and enjoys her walks, but she’s happiest relaxing at home. She’d make an excellent work-from-home companion, quietly keeping you company throughout the day. Flaca would do well in a quiet, low-key home with or without another dog. She gets along beautifully with her foster sister and respects boundaries. We recommend Flaca go to a home without young children or with older kids who can be calm and gentle with her. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Spayed, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Flaca tested positive for ehrlichia and is being treated with doxycycline. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To apply to foster/foster to adopt Flaca, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2317883##

Story
Meet Ella! Ella is about 23 pounds and. a little over a year old. We are not exactly sure what breed mixes she is but we know she is the perfect supermutt! Mom looked like a Boston Terrier/ Italian Greyhound, and Dad looked like a Shih Tzu with lots of other things, maybe a Jack Russell terrier, beagle, and maybe even Cairn Terrier. She is stocky but looks like she will have short stumpy legs and may not grow past 25 to 30 pounds. Ella is your typical dog who loves to run and play with all of her friends and is even well-acquainted with the cat! She has been working in crate training, potty training, and leash training but still needs some help with all. Interested in becoming a forever home for Ella? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Ella. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Ella the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
