Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there! My name is Sashimi. I am a shy little guy at first but once I get to know you, I’ll want to be everywhere you are! I’ll follow you around the house just to see what you’re up to, and I love watching humans cook so if you could get me a nice view to sit and watch the action, I would love that! I love running after humans when they go to a different room because I am very curious. I love watching activities like humans doing yoga and I stretch out like I’m doing it, too! I also love watching cartoons in my cat bed with my brother, Uncle Mary. He’s like other half and I don’t like to go anywhere without him. He’s a bit more skittish so I always protect him and run to him when I hear him calling. We like to dash and run through the house at night so you might want to close your bedroom door while we get our kitten energy out during bed time hours. Because of our initial fearful behaviors, we would thrive in an adult only home where our boundaries are understood and respected and will be patient with us while we adjust. We've also had kitty friends in our foster home that we've loved hanging out with, and wouldn't mind social, friendly cats in our new home, given the proper slow introductions.

More about this shelter
The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.
To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.
There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.
We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
