Introducing Nova!
Affectionate Social Playful Lively
Personality: Nova is a sweet, affectionate, and playful Great Dane who thrives on attention and being close to her people. She is a true Velcro dog who loves to snuggle on the couch or bed. Nova has an energetic and curious personality, and she’s always happy to be involved in whatever her family is doing.
Socialness: Nova enjoys meeting new people and loves affection. Off-leash, she enthusiastically greets humans with kisses and leans into them for pets. On-leash, she can be reactive and bark but has shown great improvement with training.
Nova does well with children but doesn’t realize her size, so she is best suited for homes with older children who can interact with her confidently.
Around other dogs, she is playful and loves to wrestle but may display dominant behavior with equally dominant dogs or larger dogs at first. She is better suited to dogs that can keep up with her energy while respecting boundaries. Nova has not been tested with cats, but her interest in squirrels suggests she may have a prey drive.
Likes: Snuggling with her people, treats and food, playing with her foster sister, hard chew toys, and exploring during walks.
Dislikes: Being left alone, baths, and loud or unexpected noises like sirens.
Training: Nova is crate-trained, housebroken, and knows commands like sit, no, yes, “Nova,” here, boop, and “find a spot.” She is learning to improve leash manners and reduce on-leash reactivity. Nova does counter-surf and will dig in accessible garbage, so her forever family will need to keep counters and trash secured.
Health: Nova is in good health and has recently completed heartworm treatment. She is not spayed yet and will either be spayed prior to adoption or be adopted with a spay clause in her adoption contract. She is missing a toenail, which does not affect her mobility or energy.
Forever Home Requirements:
Fun Facts: Nova loves to sniff on walks, has half of her right eye colored blue, and enjoys listening to the Moana soundtrack. Her favorite foods include hot dogs, steak, and anything stinky. She’s also a fan of car rides and sticking her head out the window.
Nova’s playful, loving nature makes her a perfect addition to an active, affectionate family. If you think Nova will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below.
