Meet Tay Tay! This sweet girl is looking for her lover—someone who can give her the comfort and safety she truly deserves.
Tay Tay dreams of trading her stressful surroundings for a cozy bed and a place where she can finally relax and shake it off. Tay Tay came in as an owner surrender on December 23rd along with her brother Titan, so she is a little nervous and unsure of her new world. Though she’s still learning to trust people, with patience, love, and time, Tay Tay is sure to blossom into her best self. She’ll do best in a calm, supportive, adult-only home with someone who understands that she needs a bit of space to breathe and build confidence. If you’re ready to show her what it means to be loved, Tay Tay is ready to give you her whole heart. She is open to meeting other dogs, so if you have any at home, please bring them along for a meet.
Tay Tay is in foster care with ACCT Philly. To learn more about her or schedule a meet, please reach out to foster@acctphilly.org

BEHAVIOR:
01/13/2025 staff notes: Tay Tay came out for activity time today. In her kennel she had neutral eyes and low wags. She allowed me to reach in leash her easily. In the room, she was hesitant of me and first when i approached her and got a bit stiff but i offered her a treat and she took it nicely and gave me some sniffs. She had low wags when exploring the room and kept coming back to me for pets, soliciting for affection and trying to jump in my lap. She is very sweet and laid back but needs time to warm up to new people. Another staff member came into the room to say hello and she ran away behind me and would avoid the ACA. After some time she allowed pets from him and would walk with him as we both walked her.
Per volunteer 12/30: Upon approaching the kennel she came to the front and was easy to leash up. She walked out and through the kennels easily into the evaluation room. In the room she began to walk the perimeter, seemingly trying to find a way out. After a few minutes the smell of the treats on the ground caught her and she began eating the treats. When she would approach us we'd offer treats and try to pet her. She would stop and freeze when being pet, and when we would stop she would remain there. So we would pet again, and as we kept doing this it was clear she liked it. She would allow her head to get heavy on our leg or hand. When we were petting her, she continued to search the room for a way out. She was easy to return to her kennel.
Per volunteer 12/29: Really sweet but independent. Seems interested in other dogs!
Per volunteer 12/29: No issues walking, not interested in me, walked in circles around.
Per volunteer 12/27: Very good on leash.
Per volunteer 12/26: Very independent.
Per volunteer 12/25: Good dog meet with Bobby Pawling.
Per volunteer 12/24: Seems interested in other dogs, used Titan to get out, very flighty.
12/24 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
1st attempt: Tay Tay was curled up on her bed when the handler approached the first time. She looked up with wide, dilated eyes, and began to run to the other side of the kennel. The handler lowered the divider and Tay Tay laid against it sideways, tucking her tail and avoiding eye contact. Tay Tay was so shut down that she would not move at all. The handler tried tossing treats but Tay Tay would literally let treats land on her head without moving at all. The handler tried to lasso, but since Tay Tay would not move her head at all there was no way to secure the leash. Rather than continue to stress her out, we decided to grab her brother instead, and see if that would help her come out.
2nd attempt: Tay Tay was on the backside and ran to the front when she saw the handlers. We had brought her brother (Titan) to see if she would come out and open the kennel door. She walked right up to him with a wagging tail and soft eyes and they gave each other some kisses. She allowed me to quickly leash her and once secured wiggled out with her brother. We let them greet each other for a bit and she walked him back to his crate.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls moderately
HANDLING:
In the room, Tay Tay was pacing the room constantly for about 15 minutes. We gave her plenty of space and time as she is so stressed and anxious. The handler attempted to give her some pets and called her over. She tolerated some pets but got tense and gave some wide eyes. She was very uncomfortable and did not even take treats. She is very escape oriented and fearful. She did not want to be touched or bothered and when she could she would hide and try to climb out the door and windows.
PLAY:
Did not attempt
TOYS:
Did not attempt
Per staff 12/23: Scared, shy, friendly, handled well.
Per staff 12/23: Somewhat scared, walk slowly, easy to leash & pick up.
MEDICAL:
On 12/30, Tay Tay was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. She tested negative for pneumovirus and was placed in isolation. On 1/6, her URI signs were worsening and she was not too interested in food, so she was prescribed an appetite stimulant and enrofloxacin in addition to extending her course of doxycycline. She tested negative for pneumovirus on 1/9 and is scheduled to finish her antibiotics on 1/20.
On 12/27, Tay Tay received a vet exam for some skin and ear issues. She had mild ear wax buildup in both ears and signs of skin irritation and possible scratching on her ears and tail. She also had hair loss and darkened skin on her belly and tail, and masses on her front leg which appeared most consistent with papillomas. Her skin issues point to some kind of allergy and she was prescribed a long lasting ear medication.
During her intake exam on 12/23, Tay Tay was a bit thin, her nose was dry and dirty, and she had fleas, along with wounds on her paws, tail, ears, and left side of her body. She was not noted to have any other concerns.
