My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Amina, whose name means “feeling of safety,” truly deserves the finest home we can find for her. Amina isn’t just friendly and sweet—she’s incredibly friendly and unbelievably sweet. This beautiful three-year-old girl will melt your heart and come running when you call her name. She’s the ultimate lap cat, happiest snoozing on your lap while you binge your favourite Netflix series. At bedtime, you’ll find her curled up right beside you. Playful and curious, Amina loves playing hide-and-seek and chasing the laser light. After playtime, she’ll gladly accept a treat—Churus and Temptations are her favourites! Amina thrives on affection and will gently bury her head in your hands, asking for pets. She’s also the perfect work-from-home companion, keeping you company as you go about your day. Amina is good with kids, but we’re unsure how she feels about other animals. As long as she has all your love and attention, she’ll be more than content as your one and only.

Amina’s journey hasn’t been easy. She came to us as a stray from animal services, where she was at risk of being euthanized. Before that, she was found outside trying to survive on her own until a kind person rescued her. During her vet check, Amina tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV might sound intimidating, but it’s nothing to fear. Cats with FIV can live long, happy lives and even live peacefully with non-FIV cats. The virus is primarily transmitted through deep bite wounds, but gentle Amina is not going to bite another cat. It’s also not transmissible to humans.

Amina has faced more than her share of challenges and deserves a loving home where she can finally thrive. She’s looking for a family to give her all the cuddles, warmth, and unconditional love she craves. Please don’t let her FIV status stop you from meeting this incredible, affectionate girl.

More about this rescue

Home at Last Rescue (HALR) is a Registered Canadian Charity, that is 100% volunteer driven. Our goal is to rescue cats from substandard living conditions and give them the loving homes they deserve.

We provide medical care, emotional support and a loving environment while preparing them to find their forever homes. With no physical location, all of our cats and kittens reside in loving foster homes across the Greater Toronto Area until they are ready for adoption.

We receive no government funding and rely solely on adoption fees, donations and our fundraising efforts to support our initiatives. We believe there is a home for every cat and a cat for every home.
