Blackie is an adorable 4-year old male kitty who was surrendered by his owner on December 26, 2024 along with his housemate (Garfield) because their family was moving and they couldn't have pets at the new residence.
Blackie has a sleek black short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with large golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers.
This awesome gentleman is good with children and also with other cats, but he does not include dogs in his circle of friends. Blackie has been kept indoors and is litterbox trained.
Blackie was given vaccinations on December 30, 2024. He was given wormer and flea treatment on December 31st .. And was given booster vaccines on January 14, 2025.
Blackie has a friendly, rather demure, personality. He and his soulmate (Garfield) have never been separated (and have been in their home since they were kittens). They have remained together in our shelter and are sharing a double-wide cage. These boys cannot understand what happened to turn their world (as they knew it) upside down when they were accustomed to having the freedom of their home and a family to love them .. And we're sure that their family feels the same way about being separated from them.
Blackie weighed 10.3 lbs when he entered our shelter.
These photos were taken on January 2nd and several others were taken in December/January .. And Blackie always chose to pose in his favorite most comfortable location (the extra-large litterbox). We had hoped for a more flattering background since there were nice blankets nearby, but honored Blackie's wishes (it's a normal "cat thing") Smile.
Blackie and Garfield are being listed as a Bonded Pair since we feel that it is in their best interest to be adopted together. Blackie is the more quiet, docile of this dynamic duo while Garfield is the more outgoing of the pair.
Blackie and Garfield have both been neutered, so they could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application.
Update: Blackie and Garfield are currently being showcased at We Lov Pets (Lafayette Plaza, Marietta Ohio) where they are available for adoption through HSOV. Please stop by their location to meet this fabulous pair of best friends.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.

We work very hard with our rescue groups to move our animals quickly and safely. We do this because we work for those who have no voice.
