Meet the lovely golden girl, Evergreen! This gentle, resilient lady has endured unimaginable neglect, but she’s now on the path to recovery and ready to find a home that will shower her with the kindness and care she’s always deserved.
Evergreen came to us with another dog after their owner passed away. Tragically, they hadn’t even been given proper names—simply called “The Pugs.” Confined together in a cramped wire crate, they arrived in heartbreaking condition. Their nails were painfully overgrown, their eyes and ears were infected, and their dry, cracked noses were barely recognizable. Their coats were matted and reeked of smoke, and they had been left to scavenge scraps tossed on the floor. Due to limited resources, the other dog was emaciated, while Evergreen, with her slightly better vision, had become overweight from eating the majority of the food.
Thankfully, those difficult days are behind them! Both dogs have made incredible strides in health and spirit. While we initially believed the pair to be bonded, we’ve come to realize that they’re content on their own and will be adopted separately.
At 14 years old, Evergreen has some mobility challenges. She moves slowly, but once she gets going, she enjoys short strolls and loves basking in the sun. Daily nose butter has softened her once-cracked nose, her ear infections have cleared up, and eye drops have brought some improvement to her vision. These small yet meaningful changes have allowed her to rediscover the simple joys in life—wandering around, lounging on a comfy bed, soaking up the sunshine, and receiving gentle affection from staff and volunteers.
Evergreen is a serene, laid-back soul who gets along well with other dogs but thrives in a calm, quiet environment. She would be happiest in a home with senior-dog experience, where she can spend her golden years surrounded by love and care.
If you have room in your heart for this deserving girl, Evergreen is ready to share her gentle warmth and gratitude with you. Inquire today and make her next chapter her happiest yet!

More about this rescue
Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
