Baby is a 10-year-old, 5-pound male chihuahua mix from Texas. Baby is a tiny, cuddly, loving pup. He has adjusted very well during his time in the city. Baby enjoys curling up in his pouf or in the arms of his foster family.
Baby is working on his obedience training. He does not yet understand "sit" but is very receptive to learning, especially if there is a little cheese reward involved. During his time with his foster family, he seems to be housetrained. He does not use pee pads, but consistently does his business outside when let out morning and evening.
Baby is still working on his leash skills. He does not like to be outside in the snow due to his tiny stature, so he has not had any lengthy walks since being with his foster family. When out on his leash he can be a little nervous when people or cars pass by, but he loves to be close to his foster family, so in time and when the weather warms up, we think he will happily follow his family on short strolls. His forever family will need to continue working with Baby to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making.
Baby has done well when left alone during the day. He is happiest when curled up in his bed, and stays there for most of the day. Baby is typically very quiet, but when his foster parents get home from work he emerges from his pouf and squeals with delight to greet them. He loves to be cozy with his foster family and will often moan and squeal quietly when being held or petted.
Baby is looking for a quiet family. He appreciates downtime and is very cat-like. He would do best as a solo dog or with a senior dog to match his lazy energy. We would recommend Baby go to a home with older or no children.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, lepto, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Recent dental cleaning and extractions. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
To apply for Baby, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
