Marley is a 2-year-old, 20-pound male mixed breed dog from Texas. He is shy but incredibly sweet, gentle, and cuddly.
Marley has adjusted very well during his time with his foster family in the city. He is still getting used to the cold and the snow, and much prefers to be inside snuggled up than outdoors.
Marley seems to be very well house trained, and does a great job of doing all his business outside right away (he knows as soon as he does, he gets to go back inside where it’s warm!) He is still working on his leash skills, and sometimes needs a little coaxing to keep walking.
Marley is still working on learning basic commands like “sit” “come” and “stay.” He is a smart boy, and will learn quickly once he feels safe and comfortable. His foster family will need to continue working on building up his confidence using positive reinforcement.
Marley’s favorite activities include snuggling and falling asleep with his little head on his person’s lap. He also enjoys watching TV, and he is absolutely fascinated by his own reflection in the mirror (see photos for evidence!).
Marley has done very well in his crate at night. He generally falls right to sleep, without disruption, and happily drifts off into slumber. Marley has not been left alone for long periods of time during the day yet, so it would be recommended that an adopter do gradual leaves of absence.
Marley is looking for a quiet, low key family. He appreciates downtime and loves nothing more than being snuggled up on the couch with a person. He is soft and sensitive in nature, and is often spooked by loud noises and sudden movements; therefore, we would recommend Marley go to a home with older children.
Marley is not reactive to other dogs, but often chooses not to enage with them. A home where Marley can be the center of attention, would likely be a better fit for him. Although, an older adult dog, who also appreciates boundaries and space, could likely coexist well with Marley. A respectful and calm canine companion could likely help to bring Marley out of his shy shell!
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, lepto, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
To apply for Marley, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
