My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blue Belle, a sweet and snuggly grey pittie with a heart as big as her personality! This two-year-old ray of sunshine has spent her entire life in a shelter after arriving as a puppy with cerebellar hypoplasia. But don’t let her diagnosis fool you—Blue Belle is all joy, all love, all the time! She’s the kind of dog who makes every day feel like it’s filled with hearts and rainbows.

Dogs with cerebellar hypoplasia may have some motor skill quirks, but they’re not in pain and can live long, happy lives. For Blue Belle, her cute, high-stepping walk is the only clue she’s a little different—and she’s completely unfazed by it! She just needs a home with minimal stairs (she can handle a few) where she can safely enjoy all her adventures.

Blue Belle is not just adorable; she’s also a superstar! She’s mostly housetrained and so close to figuring out the doggy door—her foster family is certain she’ll get it soon! She loves her toys, happily entertains herself, and will do her best to climb into your lap for cuddles. At night, she sleeps quietly in her crate like a perfect angel, and during the day, she even pops in there on her own to relax.

This lovebug would be thrilled to have a home where she can play, explore, and shed a few extra pounds to get to her goal weight. At 66 pounds, she’s aiming to lose about 10-15 pounds—and she’ll do it with her signature smile on her face.

If you’re looking for a best friend who will fill your home with cuddles, laughter, and so much love, Blue Belle is your girl! Apply to meet her at bcaaofnj.org!

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
